Watkins D1 Sectional!

Just some thoughts on some kids at each weight! Of course i could have the weights wrong especially with kids dropping/ bumping to get themselves in a better position to go to or at the schott. No specific order just naming names!

106- Norris (TW) Johnson (PC) Marek (W)
113- Hines (OO) McGrath (HB) Mcelwee (PC) Manarolla (DC)
120- Timchenko (OO) Lieb (W) Ackley (TW) Terry (PC) Stratton (HB) Kenderzski (O)
126- Banks/ Scott (W) Farmer (OO) Hogue (PC) Coleman (TW)
132- Messaral (TW) McGrath (HB) Barnes (CW) Banks/ Scott (W) Farmer (OO)
138- Fath (OO) Hoff (TW) Holter (W)
145- Pollit (O) Piecyznski (PC) Good (TW) Hammond (CW)
    152- Yarger (PC) Lancia (W)
    160- Wooden (DC) Bondurant (PC)
170- Sunkle (PC) Stratton (HB) Johnson (Rey) Muncrief (DC)
182- Shackleford (TW) Hall (O) Mcdowell (PC)
    195- Kamba (OO) Reed (Rey)
    220- Lacey (CW) George (W)
285- Gilmore (TW) Need some help here

If i missed anyone or have them at the incorrect weight i apologize! Should be a great day of wrestling with Orange, Pick Central, and Thomas Worthington competing for a sectional title.
  • Lateraldrop
McKinney and ford from tw should make it out at 195 and 220
  • USMCdevil2005
Pick Central has a HVY. Big red headed kid. Red on the head like a ......... Never mind lol.

If he's got red hair though, you know hes angry and tough! lol
  • knightflyer150
I thought Reed from Reynoldsburg was a 220?

Orange has two Farmers, Chad will be at 26 and Alec at 32. Both have some name wins this year.

106 relatively easy wt here. 113 looks balanced. 120 looks loaded, but 120 is loaded all over central district d1. i think they get out in the order you have them listed,a lthough Ackley might edge lieb.

126 looks weak here. Watkins' bankes should win this. he beat hogue handily at the state dual vs pick central. he lost to a farmer but it was the bigger one. 132 looks way more entertaining, maybe my favorite weight here -- moreso if scott is healthy. not sure on 138 either. have fath, hoff or holter faced each other this year? 145 might be the best weight at this sectional, or at least the most entertaining. you are forgetting HB's Driscoll -- very talented DQ from last year. I think driscoll might have been a state alternate or just short of it in 2012?
    ptown3;1375827 wrote: 152- Yarger (PC) Lancia (W)
lol. guess we get to see if i was right about by prediction a week ago. lol. no further comment...

can wooden go 152? might we see a drop? if so, bondurant walks into darby a 1 seed for sure. I think one or two borderline kids will get in at 60 here.

kamba, lacey walk. not sure on heavy?

thomas worthington should take the title.

I think ive seen Driscoll at 138, not sure. Can anyone clarify?

Funny thing about that is the kids nick name is "Big Red" hes only a sophomore!

Thomas had a pretty good showing at Eaton this weekend. Taking 2nd overall behind a loaded Hamilton Ross squad

    Messerall took 1st
Ackley, Shackleford, McKinney, Gilmore took 2nd
    Ford took 3rd

Ackley somehow did not get seeded here - he had to blow through the #2 seed in round 1, a borofan ranked Bussard in D2 in the second round, #3 seed in the semi's before meeting #1 seed stud from Chaminade Julienne in the finals. It was a rough weekend!

I am going to say 120 is going to be an entertaining weight class to watch come sectionals. I can see Timchenko, Ackley, Lieb and Terry pulling through with Stratton and Kenderski as possible upset threats.

I think the seeding plays a huge role in how 120 will shake out. I know Terry has two wins over Stratton this season

both sides of that bracket will be tough. Do terry and ackley have any "big name" wins? I remember lieb beat minnard somewhere, i think west jeff, and also pinned river valley's crabtree. I'm thinking Lieb gets No. 2, ackley 3 and terry 4??
  • Booger Boy
I thought Dodson from Orange just beat Wooden at 160 last week during the state duals? If thats correct he would have to be favored

I don't think Dodson beat Wooden. I believe Dodson won his match vs. Coffman, but it was against an opponent other than Wooden I believe. Someone can correct me if I am wrong on that, but I am about 90% sure of it.

Pinned Kyle Bussard from Valley View - I think Boro Fan had the names backwards though in his rankings...

He Pinned Gasca, Beat Zeller twice last year who beat Terry at the Wazie in the finals. Bauner Chafin, Joey Yerace both DQ's from last year.

We will see how he handles Valenti come Wednesday as well.

What is Lieb's record this year. Ackley is 26-5 so far only losing to 4 kids and atleast 18 by Fall

    120 is very tough

Ackleys tough and much improved! Hard work does pay off!
He never misses a Monday at the Ohio Caps Club. Good luck to him.

TOUGH! whichever one gets the 2 seed, the other should be 3, so that will be one heck of a semi. Can't wait!

I cannot agree more with you.

I encourage all the Central Ohio boys to check this out, it is opportunities like these that come after the rest of the kids are home eating donuts. These kids get to roll around and learn from each other hoping to ultimately achieve the goal of making Central Ohio a strong wrestling community. I am so sick of Ed's boys and them other NE siders stealing the show at the Schott.

Plus if it wasn't for stuff like OC Club, Ackley would probably be wrestling 160 :)

To be honest with you, I wouldn't be surprised to see Timchenko stay at 126 for post season. He is thinking state title and Thompson and Bavery are both much tougher than McClay @126. I wouldn't be too sure to bet on him going 120 yet! Not saying he can't beat Thompson or Bavery. Thompson is very tough though. I just think he would have a better shot at beating McClay at 126.

well, he's certainly the no 1 out of darby at either weight IMO!!!

Good point - he has wrestled and dominated at 126 this year several times. He is one of those kids that could go anywhere. Well if Timchenko is at 126 that would free up another 120 spot. Who I think would go to Kenderzski from Olentangy, unless Farmer is better but Ackley Majored Farmer at the Pioneer invitational back in the beginning of the month.

Oh yea either way, but he's not looking at the central district stage! He's looking at that coveted state title and Oranges first state champion ever!

I personally think 126 is Timchenko's for the taking - because 120 is pretty deep on the grand stage this year. Has he wrestled Rooney this year at 126?

I don't think so but I would put money on it that he beats Rooney by major. Also I haven't seen results on Rooney in the past 3 weeks and no one has answered my question on here as to where he has been? Injured, sick, etc??? Why not competing!

Personally I think Timchenko will go 120 because I talked to him at the orange tournament earlier this month and he said that he was planning on go 120 because he made the drop already and doesn't have trouble making it but who knows it will be interesting no matter what
