The Devils Centrail District Rankings!~

  • USMCdevil2005
Just wanted to start some good conversation on here about the central district. Since the Holiday tournaments are over I figured I'd compile my own rankings and well take it from there.

    106

    1. Nace TV
    2. Guitierez PN
    3. Lakso CC
    4. Laney GM
    5. S. Transue DJ
    6. Furnas OLIB

Nace has beaten the "Guit" once this season and had a great tournament at Brecksville taking 2nd losing to Assad. "guit" got 5th at Medina and Lakso came onto the radar with his 6th place finish at Medina, also beating R.Valenti while enroute. Honorable Mention-- Valenti HDAR, Gill HDAV, Campbell HB, Johnson PC

    113

    1. Riley MV
    2. Dooley TV
    3. DiSabato WN
    4. Brady CW
    5. Hines OO
    6. Rob McGrath HB

Riley is a clear number one here. Wimer has yet to get to 113 so I am not ranking him here until he does, but if and when he does. (I think he will) he will be number 2 and the rest bump down a slot. Riley had a good tourney at Brecksville, the second toughest bracket out of the whole tournament in my opinion. Dooley has wrestled tough all year, DiSabato had a good tournament at Medina losing his first match and battling back for 7th. Brady has just come back but I think will pick it up pretty fast. Hines is always tough and Mcgrath had a good showing at GMVA placing 7th. Honorable Mention-- Garrett HDAR, J.Transue DJ, McEllwee PC, Johnson TW.

    120

    1. Timchenko OO
    2. Wimer CC
    3. Penzone OLIB
    4. Kakos FH
    5. S. Valenti HDAR
    6. Terry PC

Clear number 1 here, this kid is on the hunt for a state title. Has a tough opponent from Solon though. Wimer may drop to 113. If not he is number 2 here. Once Rahmani actually stepped onto a mat for his 12-13 season he is 3 or 4 here. Between Rahmani, Penzone, & Kakos it could go anyway on who is hotter that day. Kakos is hot right now and could even possibly be 3 here after beating Minnard from Bloom Carroll in the finals at West Jeff. Honorable Mention-- Lieb WM, Gasca WEST, Ackley TW, Latham TV, Snyder PN, Sratton HB, Flutty NA??

    126

    1. Rooney St.C
    2. Sparks MARY
    3. Ferguson PN
    4. Shaut WK
    5. McKenney CC
    6. King TV

Rooney is strong. I think edges Sparks out here, but Sparks is scrappy and has been coming on strong recently. Ferguson placing at Medina was impressive. 4-6 is a toss up here. Shaut has looked tough and should get out this year. McKenney went 3-2 at Medina and was very close to clinching that spot, plus having Josh Wimer as a workout partner everyday helps. lol. Honorable Mention-- Ruiz HDAR, Banks WM, Lybarger MV, Taranto PC.

    132

    1. K. McDougle GL
    2. Wilson HDAV
    3. J. Donatelli HDAR
    4. Dunn TV
    5. Durieux WN
    6. McGrath HB/ Messerall W

McDougle had a great tournament at Brecksville and has yet to lose to Wilson in High school competition that I know of. Wilson looked good at Brecksville. Donatelli lost a heartbreaker to get out last year at Darby. Dunn has dropped close matchs to all great/ranked opponents. I think 4-6 here could go either way, all are scrappy and tough kids. Honorable Mention-- Fajardo OLEN, Jake Snyder PN, Barnes CW, Thrasher OLIB, Hinkle MV.

    138

    1. Forrider MARY
    2. Alexander NORTHLAND
    3. D. McDougle GL
    4. Miller LAN
    5. B. Comfort DJ
    6. K. Driscoll HB
    7. Goldsmith WN

Forrider is a monster. Alexander is fun to watch and is clear 2nd here I think. If he could get in shape more he would be amazing! His gas tank runs out in the 3rd. McDougle could be 2 here but lost to Alexander last time they met. Miller looked great at Medina taking 4th. Goldsmith impressed the crap out of me with a 4-2 at Medina. Honorable Mention-- DiBenedetto UA, Wall HB, Lawler HDAV, Booth HDAR, Snyder OLIB.

    145

    1. Ryan OLIB 7. Pollitt OLEN
    2. Smith HDAV 8. Notestine PN
    3. Black HDAR 9. Sintobin WN
    4. Hammond CW 10. Pieczynski PC
    5. Llaneza WS 11. Farris CC
    6. Holter WM 12. Wall HB

This weight class is one word.... LOADED! Ryan and Smith are clear 1 and 2 here. Black is tough tough tough! He went 7-2 at Medina after losing in the first round! 4-12 here can go either way. This weight class is jacked! Hammond will turn it on I think, and Llaneza has looked tough! Honorable Mention-- T.Neely UA, Kauffeld TV, Wahl WK,

Nicely done USMC - Semper Fi on both not mentioning Rahmani in the top 5 right now and for serving our country...

Just for the Record - Ackley pinned Gasca in 1:29 at the Pioneer invitational.

Also in regards to Alexander and Forrider - I would switch them, I heard Alexander gave Forrider a workout this year. I can't even debate your list right now, nicely done.

    152

    1. Staten MV
    2. Deluse LAN
    3. Chappalear GC
    4. Pollitt OLEN
    5. Yarger PC
    6. Z. Donatelli / Krasovec WC

Staten is number 1 here, Placed 8th at Brecksville. 2 and 3 will square up Thursday night, I think Chappalear wins but I will keep Deluse at 2 until it happens based on how he has been wrestling lately and also his schedule is a lot tougher. I think Pollitt needs to stay here, 145 is loaded and he will not get out there. Yarger isn't having the year I thought he would. Honorable Mention-- Trochio DS, Pearson DJ, K. Neely UA, McLlvain HDAV, Hammond HB, Ferguson WN, Snyder CW.

    160

    1. Boyd MARY
    2. Bond LAN
    3. Bondurant PC
    4. Chappalear GC
    5. Wooden DC
    6. Hinz WN

I think Boyd is the best in the state at this weight. He placed 3rd at Brecksville losing to Scheutte of Waeson. Bond wrestled tough at Medina. Bondurant impressed me by placing 4th at GMVA. Chappalear I think is dropping to 152 but still is 4th here. Hinz dropped a close 5-4 match to Bond. Really 3-6 here is a toss up. Whoever is feeling better that day. Honorable Mention-- Lancia WM , Holloway GL, Moore HDAV , Watson UA, Mitchell OLEN, King TW

    170

    1. Sunkle PC
    2. Walker HDAR
    3. Funk LAN
    4. Dial PN
    5. Hood DJ
    6. Heyman HDAV / Heilman OO

1,2, are on a roll right now and looking tough. Could go anyway but I think Sunkle is number 1 here after a great showing at GMVA. Walker placed 5th at Medina and looked good doing so. Beat the "brakes" off Funk and dropped a heart breaker in the semis to Cramer from Oak Harbor. 4-6 is a tossup and could go however. Honorable Mention-- Crosby GC, Slade OLEN, Call TV, Muncrief DC, Roberts MARY.

    182

    1. Hall OLEN
    2. Shackelford TW
    3. Coulter WN
    4. Rigss HB
    5. Starkey PN
    6. Maynard TV

Hall beat Shackelford last weekend at Olentangy Orange and is number 1 here. 3-6 here is a level below 1 and 2. Coulter looked good at Medina. Honorable Mention -- McDowell PC, Parker HDAR, Pavoni UA, Crabtree MV

    195

    1. Lybarger MV
    2. Pfarr MARY
    3. Kamba OO
    4. McKinney TW
    5. Young OLEN
    6. Maynard PC

Lybarger is a level above everyone else here. He looked great at Brecksville enroute to his championship! Pfarr and Kamba are a level above the rest as well. personally anything can happen 4-6 but McKinney has been on a roll recently. Honorable Mention-- Oller/Darnell TV, Norris LAN, Chau GL, Kramer WN

    220

    1. Mowery DJ
    2. Lacey CW
    3. Kinser TV
    4. Struttman WN
    5. Juty BRIGGS
    6. Backenstone HDAV

1,2,3 are all pretty close here. Lacey has beaten Kinser and just lost to Mowery last weekend at Kevin Cleveland Memorial. Struttman came on the radar after a 6-2 showing at Medina placing 5th! Kinser was a district placer last year and got caught on his back in his go to match. I am not sure if Juty is back this year. I know he was a junior last year but I have no results on him. Backenstone is tough, plus his drill partner is a returning state runner up hvy weight! That always helps. Honorable Mention -- Ford TW, Stockton WEST, Crumb OLEN Mitchell PN, Miller MARY, Miller HDAR

    285

    1. Gusan HDAV
    2. Akutsu DS
    3. Walker MARY
    4. Evanichko GC
    5. Hertz OLIB
    6. Gray WEST

Gusan is a monster. He eats baby toes for breakfast and drinks a large glass of tiger blood. After he combs his manstache a few times and then carries his car to school, not drive it. Akutsu is a lot better than everyone thinks though and if he stays healthy I believe is top 3 in the state. The kid is explosive! Walker looked great at Brecksville finishing 4th with a 5-2 record. Evanichko is next best here I think battling for 4th. Honorable Mention-- Morefield PC, Nader GL, Rollo PN, McCullough WK.

*** There ya go folks. Lets hear the comments. I can imagine a few already! lol

Thank ya much sir! I didn't have full results for Pioneer Invite. Thanks for the heads up. Alexander over Forrider??? I don't know man. It is going to be exciting though I know that! Come on February!

I, for one, think the Centrail district is far tougher than the Oregon Trail...just sayin. Sorry.

Dang! I didn't even notice. Thanks Hippo for pointing that out. Oregon Trail is a cake walk compared to Centrail!

great job! Thanks for giving some love to gasca, stockton, and gray.

    my only arguments:

Would like to see Brusco from Hayes ranked at 106, super tough kid.

at 145, Pollitt beat Llaneza this weekend, and i dont think it was that close (i didnt watch full match though).

At 220, Backenstoe hasnt wrestled yet to my knowledge and I also heard that he isnt wrestling at all. Also, Juty has yet
to wrestle this year, but did enter the nelsonville tournament and scratched out.
  • bump_and_run
thank you! my only comment is i think you are overlooking lancia from watkins at 160. i saw him dominate at the licking county tournament, pinning granville's excellent navin (17 in state at 170 per borofan) and man handling northridge's solid mickey, who looked like he had 10 lbs on the watkins wrestler. he also won west jeff, which means he beat hillsboro's johnson, a state qualifier last year at 170.

Whats wrong with Juty. I always love watching this kid wrestle. He is a scrapper man! Thanks for the info on Pollitt, either way he needs to stay at 152 in my opinion. Stockton is tough... I was hoping he did better at Pioneer Invitational!
  • snugglyhippo
Also. Pollitt just beat Llaneza 17-2 and I am curious, no B. Reid from UA - 182? Where has he been? Is he wrestling? The kid is pretty good.

    Any D2 central rankings?

I can do those too but will probably take a few days. Take a stab at it Great95!

Nice. Where was this that Pollitt beat Llaneza 17-2? Also I was looking for the Reid kid from UA but from all there results there is no Reid in there. He is tough too.

Lancia is good. He is one of those guys who can jump in there anywhere. He's dangerous.

Brusco is tough! I haven't seen any results on Hayes though actually and I wasn't sure were he was. I think he gets out at 106 or 113 even. He is a tough little dude. I think he is 3-4 in either weight.
  • The2cKDude
Lancia will be at 152, I believe... he would likely be 2 there, atleast imo...
  • USMCdevil2005
If he gets to 152 he is 2 or 3. Can he get to 152?
  • ptown3
Hogue 126 from Pick Central comes back this thursday from a hand injury, had wins over schaut and dooley at Darby last post season, bumping Toranto up to 132

Agreed. just going off the names listed above, 152 is one of the less-competitive weights this year. I'd give staten or deluse the benefit of the doubt for now, and slot lancia in at 3 but my gut says he beats them both.
  • Westie101
oh and one more thing is that I am a HUGE alexander fan, but I dont think he has ever beaten/wrestled drew mcdougle, but I could be wrong. I know he beat Kasee last year.
  • nykc
Alexander is a very classy, personable kid. He is my pick to win darby this year.

Besides Brusco Delaware has Sierawski at 182 (Bucksman #11) who won the Wazie and placed 5th at the very tough Berman Holiday Classic in Chicago. They also have Johnson at 195 who placed 2nd to Lybarger at the Wazie and took 3rd at the Berman. A couple of tough kids to put on your radar.
