Is the Dave Schultz HS award figured on only folkstyle HS wrestling accomplishments, or is it like the other guys who give automatic bonus points for competing at Fargo?

snugglyhippoA friend and former high school teammate of mine Jason Still, passed away last week. Jason loved wrestling, coached Westerville South for a couple years and for a couple years at the middle school level in Westerville as well. He was our 103 pounder in high school and I spent countless hours with him in the sauna starving as well as time not related to wrestling at church youth group and from time to time as adults, although we didn't see each other as much as i would have liked due to family, jobs, etc. All of the things that get in the way when you get older, until you realize that now there is no more time. Jason wrestled Eddie Jayne in the first round of Alliance Top Gun, he wrestled Kevin Cleveland once, he wrestled Curtis Raney numerous times and many others we all know, making him a part of all of our Central Ohio wrestling community more than many people know. More than anything, he was caring, funny, and really loved his three kids and he will be missed by everyone who knew him.

cruiser_96Phil: I saw that. A good friend of mine attends Heritage Church in Westerville. I asked my friend if he knew Jason; he said he didn't, but rather knew of him. As I read your post it seemed like you had frustration for life getting in the way of a bond. I'm not sure how to fix that, but my point is that Jason was known by my friend because of his kindness, his personality and his love. That's a pretty good legacy.
I only wrestled Jason once... 1995, sectional tournament, 130lbs weight class. I was a junior, Jason a senior. We met in the consolation semifinals. Crazy. -
cruiser_96I just drove by the Polaris QS&L. Good memories. Good memories indeed.

cruiser_96Groveport's annual "Be Better" Camp is coming together nicely! Fliers are made, website forthcoming, 2/3rds of the clinicians are set, give-aways are in hand, shirts are being designed...
Can't wait!!!!!!!!! -
cruiser_96SO, in my last post, I made it known that 2/3rds of the clinicians are set. This is still true, but in an effort to not behind, I tried to secure another clinician, just in case the last guy falls through.
As I'm sitting here today, looking at the flyer, and creating the website, I think, "Why not just let all four do it? Give them each a night and roll with it."
I might do that. The more the marryier, I always say. (I don't really say that. In fact, I may have never said it. Can't say I've ever typed it either, other than when I just did.)
Anywho, "Be Better" Wrestling Camp, wrestling, website, flyers, blah, blah, blah... -

cruiser_96Whatever Tommy Rowlands and CONQUEST Brand (for #OriginalAthletes) are offering, that's what we're buying. The last two years have been Champion dry fit, so I'll assume something close to those.

The biggest thing I remember about that movie is that it took so long to be aired on television. -
dbluvsd1amondsSome of you know that I do not live in Ohio, but stumbled across this site because my husband and I were seriously considering moving to Ohio to live closer to his parenst. (You know, but far enough away so that my mother in law couldn't drive to me.) So you may wonder why I read this site. It's for one reason simply. It rocks.
So I've been perusing my own state's wrestling site, and am frustrated beyond words. (Well, not literally, as I'm complaining about it.) There is no camaraderie. It's a site full of bickering (what I assume to be) adults who argue over menial disputes. There was not a single mention of the Olympic team (of which my state had three natives,) no mention of some amazing high school wrestling matches at the state finals this year, or some of our perfomances at the national freestyle duals. They neglect to mention rule changes, schedule changes, or anything else that in any way relates to wrestling or the legacy that both precedes and follows this amazing sport. Instead I'm relegated to forums that trash talk, set up meeting places for potential fights, and call various people in multiple clubs thieves. They spend more time posting the names of individuals who supposedly comit crimes than they do in earnestly seeking alternatives to make the youth sport clubs better. So in short I suppose I'm envious of how willing the members of this forum are to share and encourage one another in the sport. And so I stay and read. Thanks for all the awesome wrestling info you provide day in and day out!
