Gardens35HEY Firestone....HEY Pants, be at the EOWL Tournament?
-
firestonefanI can't make the EOWL but will be counting on you for results Gardens35. I will be in Columbus with my son (on leave from the Army).
-
Gardens35Very Nice!
I'll post the Finals results when I get home that Saturday night, and if I get my hands on complete brackets Ill get them to you.
Interesting that it's at Salem, I think it's probably been 10-15 years since they hosted.
Anyhow, there's 4 being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Powell(Fitch), Butch(Official), Poweski(JFK).....and right now I can't think of the other one....I'm embarassed about that at the moment. -
firestonefan135
1-Benedict (Canfield) 2-Hupp (W Branch) 3-Fejedelem (Crestwood) 4-Ladich (Field) 5-Sampson (SE) 6- Schafer (Marlington)
Benedict placed 2nd at the Dies losing to one of the state's best, Mirman 9-5 in the finals. He is the best here. Hupp wrestled up at 140 in the dual vs Marlington and lost (surprising IMO) to Gonzalez 9-3. In a crazy tri Fejedelem beat CVCA's Powers 3-1 (Powers is a state placer and one of the best)) but lost to Ladich 11-9. The freshman from Field is starting to realize his potential. Shafer lost W Branch''s Faulkner 7-1
140
1-Fox (Field) 2-Faulkner (W Branch) 3-Lodge (Salem) 4-Chaney (Hubbard) 5-Daprile (Canfield) 6-Gonzalez (Marlington)
Fox had another productive week, jumping up to 145 and pinning Horovitz in their dual and then placing 4th at the Top Gun (losing twice to Perry's Z Dailey 1-0 and 3-0). Faulkner dropped to 135, winning 7-1 over Marlington's Shaffer. Lodge continued his successful season, taking 2nd at Howland. Chaney wrestled here at the Dies and I see he is listed at 140 for the Hephner. Daprile dropped from 145 and Gonzalez makes his debut this week with a win over Hupp (Branch's 135) 9-3.
145
1-Horovitz (Crestwood) 2-Bates (Marlington) 3-Pidgeon (W Branch) 4-James (SE) 5-Z Lias (Hubbard)
Horovitz went 1-1 last week, losing to Field's 140 Fox and pinning Macllellan (CVCA). Lots of close match ups with the rest of the wrestlers. Bates wins over Pidgeon 5-4. The latter had close wins over James (7-6) and Lias 3-1. Looking like this will be a hard fought weight come February.
152
1-Porter (Crestwood) 2-Poyser (Louisville) 3- McGinnis (Field 4- Nadeja (Hubbard) 5-Seifke (Marlington) 6-Paynter (W Branch)
This is going to be a very tough weight. Porter beat McGinnis (down from 160) 2-1 and beat CVCA Mike Meadows 6-2 in dual action.Poyser placed 6th at Top Gun. McGinnis defaulted out of the Top Gun. Nadeja was injured at the Dies (hopefully nothing serious) and didn't place.Seifke beat Paynter 9-4 in their dual. I have moved 3 thru 5 around and would be happy with any configuration. This will be a barn burner.
160
1-Lamancusa (W Branch) 2-Matarrese (Crestwood) 3-Kaplan (Marlington) 4-Mirto (Canfield) 5-Brokaw (SE) 6-DePasquale (Hubbard) also Monroe (Alliance)
Lamancusa took 2nd at the Dies Tournament (losing to Brecksville's Roddy in the finals) and beat Kaplan 5-0 in a dual match. Matarrese has been out since the Kenston Tournament, but should be back soon. Brokaw is now in the SE lineup.
171
1-Ryba (Crestwood) 2-Lawrence (Southeast) 3-Lias (Hubbard) 4-Thomas (Marlington) 5-Karlen (W Branch) 6-Smith (Canfield) also Conway (Alliance)
Ryba won by fall over Pete Meadows (CVCA). Lawrence had a good Dies Tornament (taking 4th).He beat returning State placer Kluk from Highland 7-1 along the way. Lias took 7th at the Dies, Thomas is just down from 189. He won by fall over Karlen last week. He may be under valued here. Karlen beat Smith 10-8 at the Dies.
189
1-Monroe (Crestwood) 2-Kuhn (Marlington) 3-Flanagan (Canfield) 4-Brown (W Branch) 5-Hettick (Field) 6-Thomas (Alliance)
Monroe was out with an injury last week. Kuhn is up from 171 and beat Brown by fall. Flanagan was injured at the Dies and did not place (losing to Brown by default). He did score a pin over the tough Haramis (Norton). Hettick won by fall over Thomas at the Top Gun.
215
1-Gray (Louisville) 2-Lowry (Crestwood) 3-James (W Branch) 4-Smith (Marlington) 5-Saunders (Alliance) 6-James (Salem)
Gray is just up from 189. This will be a highly contested weight with any of the top4 able to win on a hot weekend.Lowry lost by fall to Matt Meadows (CVCA). James (W Branch) beat Smith 3-2 in OT in their dual and placed 7th at the Dies.
285
1-Higgins (Marlington 2-Sharp (W Branch) 3-Goss (Crestwood) 4-Banks (Field) 5-Masters (Salem)
Higgins beat Conner Sharp 2-0 in their match. Logan Sharp took 7th at the Dies. Goss pinned Banks in their dual. -
Gardens35Just came to me, the 4th inductee is Smith(Girard).
-
firestonefanIs Poweski one of the wrestlers or the Father (Coach)?
-
Gardens35Wrestler.
I think that one of the best potential bouts at the league may be at 125 with Reed and Dillon. -

Carrollton 18
I'll get you a box score eventually.
Dustin Graham got his 100th win tonight. -
firestonefan1/25/11
I'll get a head start before work and finish these this evening. The Hephner Tournament had 6 of the teams from this sectional (Louisville, Marlington, Poland, Salem, Hubbard, Southeast).
103
1-Nemec (Crestwood) 2-Anderson (W Branch) 3-Lott (Field) 4-Oliver (Louisville) 5-Spencer (Canfield) 6-Prizant (Poland)
No changes here. Nemec pinned Spencer in their meeting last week.
112
1-Graham (W Branch) 2-Frost (Canfield) 3-Alger (Crestwood) 4-Gibson (SE) 5-George (Hubbard) 6-Kubitzka (Field) also Duran (Poland) St John (Marlington) Ford (Alliance)
This is a hard weight to rank, other than Graham. Frost moves to #2 via an 18-5 win over Alger. I don't have many results from the freshman, but this is a big win. Gibson finished 7th at the Hephner, where George wrestled 119. He may move to that weight, not sure.
119
1-Romy (Louisville) 2-Schauffhauser (W Branch) 3-Jones (Alliance) 4-Walkerow (SE) 5- Weisent (Marlington) 6-Shields (Poland) also Mayfield (Field) Dunkin (Crestwood) Kay (Canfield) Briceland (Salem) Halicki (Hubbard)
This is a very closely matched field. Romy beat Weisent in a dual 9-4 and placed 6th at the Hephner Tourney, while Walkerow placed 8th. I don't have the individual results, but from a reliable source I hear Mayfield went 4-1 at the Gahanna Lincoln duals Saturday. Dunkin beat Kay 4-2 in their meeting last week.
125
1- Reed (Canfield) 2-Kager (Crestwood) 3-Perry (Hubbard) 4-Shelton (W Branch) 5-Byelene (Marlington) 6-O'Brien (Louisville)
Perry wrestled this weight at the Hephner where he placed 6th. Byelene pinned O'Brien in their dual and also placed 8th at the Hephner Tourney.
130
1-Estock (W Branch) 2-Oliver (Louisville) 3-Rapone (Canfield) 4-Hillier Crestwood) 5- Pruitt (SE) 6-Swiggart (Field)
135
1-Benedict (Canfield) 2-Hupp (W Branch) 3- Fejedelem (Crestwood) 4- Ladich (Field) 5-Sampson (SE) 6-Shafer (Marlington) also Lepar (Louisville)
Benedict wrestled 140 in the dual against Crestwood, where Fejedelem beat Rapone 11-5. I haven't seen any results from Ladich since the tri with CVCA/Crestwood. Sampson took 5th at the Hephner Tournament. Shafer beat Lepar 4-2 in a dual.
140
1-Fox (Field) 2-Faulkner (W Branch) 3-Chaney (Hubbard) 4-Lodge (Salem) 5-Daprile (Canfield) 6-Lovejoy (Louisville) also Gonzalez (Marlington)
Chaney and Lodge have been switched as Chaney won head to head in the 7th/8th place match at the Hephner. Daprile jumped to 145, losing by fall to Horovitz in their dual. Lovejoy recorded a 10-3 win over Gonzalez last week.
145
1-Horovitz (Crestwood) 2-Bates (Marlington) 3-Pidgeon (W Branch) 4-James (SE) 5-Z Lias (Hubbard)
Horovitz had a good night in the tri with Canfield and Howland, beating Daprile (Canfield) by fall and winning a decision 8-4 over Howland's tough Robbie Klose. Bates took 2nd at the Hephner
152
1-Porter (Crestwood) 2-Poyser (Louisville) 3- McGinnis (Field) 4-Seifke (Marlington) 5-Nadeja (Hubbard) 6-Paynter (W Branch)
Poyser and seifke took 2nd and 3rd repectively at the Hephner. In their dual Poyser won 10-3 last week. Nadeja took 8th after defaulting out. Plagued by injuries most of his career, here's hoping he can get healthy for the post season.
160
1-Lamancusa (W Branch) 2-Matarrese (Crestwood) 3-Kaplan (Marlington) 4-Mirto (Canfield) 5-Brokaw (SE) 6-DePasquale (Hubbard) also Monroe (Alliance)
No changes here. Matarrese is back and recorded two falls last week. Brokaw took 7th at the Hephner and could be a spoiler here.
171
1-Ryba (Crestwood) 2-Lawrence (Southeast) 3-Lias (Hubbard) 4-Thomas (Marlington) 5-Karlen (W Branch) 6-Smith (Canfield) also Conway (Alliance)
Ryba had another good week (as usual) beating the very good Brice Tricker from Howland 14-3 and pinning Smith.
Lawrence won it all at the Hephner beating 2010 state placer Kuk (Highland) in the finals, 9-5. This is his 2nd win of the season over Kluk Lias placed 6th. Thomas took 4th at 189 also and may opt for that weight. If so Kuhn would be #4 here.
189
1-Monroe (Crestwood) 2-Kuhn (Marlington) 3-Flanagan (Canfield) 4-Brown (W Branch) 5-Hettick (Field) 6-Thomas (Alliance)
No changes here. The biggest question is will the athletic Thomas decide to wrestle this weight. He may be the only other at this sectional to push Monroe, since Gray moved up to 215.
215
1-Gray (Louisville) 2-Lowry (Crestwood) 3-James (W Branch) 4-Smith (Marlington) 5-Saunders (Alliance) 6-James (Salem)
No changes here. Gray took 4th at the Hephner forfeiting his placement match), while Smith placed 7th.
285
1-Higgins (Marlington 2-Sharp (W Branch) 3-Goss (Crestwood) 4-Banks (Field) 5-Frederick (Louisville) 6-Masters (Salem)
Higgins tok 2nd at the Hephner, losing in OT to Lugo (SVSM) 2-1. He also beat Frederick 5-1 in their dual meeting. Stll not sure which Sharp will take the mat for the Warriors, but after the top 2 here it could be any of the rest or someone not mentioned. -

I Wear PantsWest Branch beats Canton South 51-12 (pretty sure it was 51 I know it was 12).
Branch lost at 171 by decision, 103 by fall, and 112 by decision. The 112 match was a close one with the final score being 7-4 for Morris (CS) over Dustin Graham. There was a weird stalling call against Graham that I didn't understand that gave Morris another point but he still wrestled a good match. Morris looks huge at 112. -

Most of the weights remain the same this week. There are a couple weight changes that are noted in the commentary along with some results.
103
1-Nemec (Crestwood) 2-Anderson (W Branch) 3-Lott (Field) 4-Oliver (Louisville) 5-Spencer (Canfield) 6-Prizant (Poland)
No changes here. Both Nemec and Anderson suffered losses by fall last week. Nemec to Willoughby South's Gallagher and Anderson to the very good Shoeppner of Canton S.
112
1-Graham (W Branch) 2-Frost (Canfield) 3-Alger (Crestwood) 4-Gibson (SE) 5-George (Hubbard) 6-Kubitzka (Field) also Duran (Poland) St John (Marlington) Ford (Alliance)
No changes here. Graham had two tough matches last week, beating Carrollton's Miller 6-4 and losing to Canton South wrestler Joey Morris 8-4. After Graham this is a tightly grouped bunch.
119
1-Romy (Louisville) 2-Schauffhauser (W Branch) 3-Jones (Alliance) 4-Walkerow (SE) 5- Weisent (Marlington) 6-Shields (Poland) also Mayfield (Field) Dunkin (Crestwood) Kay (Canfield) Briceland (Salem) Halicki (Hubbard)
No changes here. Some results of note from last week are Schaffhauser's 4-2 win over Canton South wrestler Tucker and Jone's high scoring 14-8 loss to Northwest's Wilhelm. This is another very evenly matched weight with a lot of contenders.
125
1- Reed (Canfield) 2-Kager (Crestwood) 3-Perry (Hubbard) 4-Shelton (W Branch) 5-Bylene (Marlington) 6-O'Brien (Louisville)
Once again no changes. Perry lost by major to beaver's McComas while Bylene defeated the very good DePalmo of Minerva 9-6, but lost a close one to Tuslaw's Perez, 6-4.
130
1-Estock (W Branch) 2-Oliver (Louisville) 3-Rapone (Canfield) 4-Hillier Crestwood) 5- Pruitt (SE) 6-Swigart (Field)
135
1-Benedict (Canfield) 2-Hupp (W Branch) 3- Fejedelem (Crestwood) 4- Ladich (Field) 5-Sampson (SE) 6-Hawkins (Alliance) also Gonzalez/Shafer (Marlington) Lepar (Louisville)
The only change here is that both Shafer and Gonzalez (down from 140) wrestled for Marlington last week. Gonzalez lost a 3-2 decision to Marthey of Tuslaw.
140
1-Fox (Field) 2-Bates (Marlington) 3-Faulkner (W Branch) 4-Chaney (Hubbard) 5-Lodge (Salem) 6-Daprile (Canfield) also Lovejoy (Louisville)
The biggest change in the rankings this week comes here, where David Bates has dropped to 140 from 145 (where he was also ranked #2 all season). He won a 12-2 major decision over Tuslaw's Powell on Saturday morning.
145
1-Horovitz (Crestwood) 2-Pidgeon (W Branch) 3-James (SE) 4-Z Lias (Hubbard)
With the movement down for Bates, this weight just got a lot thinner. I'm wondering if Seifke may drop also or maybe one of the periphery wrestlers at 140 jump up.
152
1-Porter (Crestwood) 2-Poyser (Louisville) 3- McGinnis (Field) 4-Seifke (Marlington) 5-Nadeja (Hubbard) 6-Paynter (W Branch)
One of the better weight at this sectional. 3-4-5 are very close. McGinnis seems to be adjusting to the weight drop well, as most of the results i have for him since Top Gun have been by fall. Seifke lost an 8-6 decision to Tuslaw's Blair and Paynter has been out due to injury.
160
1-Lamancusa (W Branch) 2-Matarrese (Crestwood) 3-Kaplan (Marlington) 4-Mirto (Canfield) 5-Brokaw (SE) 6-DePasquale (Hubbard) also Schuster (Salem)
Kaplan had a tough week, losing to Elliott (Tuslaw) 12-4 and Minerva's Boyce 19-5 (both are very good wrestlers). I think after the top 2, it will be a dogfight for the final two qualifying places.
171
1-Ryba (Crestwood) 2-Lawrence (Southeast) 3-Lias (Hubbard) 4-Thomas (Marlington) 5-Karlen (W Branch) 6-Smith (Canfield) also Conway (Alliance)
Thomas seems to be getting most of the mat time for the Dukes at 171. He won by major over Tuslaw and beat Minerva's tough Lutes 17-5 last week. Lias wrestled up at 189 against Beaver Local, could he be contemplating a move to that weight? Thomas has also wrestled 189 quite a bit this season.
189
1-Monroe (Crestwood) 2-Kuhn (Marlington) 3-Flanagan (Canfield) 4-Brown (W Branch) 5-Hettick (Field) 6-Thomas (Alliance)
Monroe beat a very good Palisano (Willoughby S) 5-3 in their dual last week. Kuhn lost to Minerva's Kullman 10-4.
215
1-Gray (Louisville) 2-Lowry (Crestwood) 3-James (W Branch) 4-Smith (Marlington) 5-Saunders (Alliance) 6-James (Salem)
Smith didn't wrestle for Marlington last week. Hopefully all is well.
285
1-Higgins (Marlington 2-Sharp (W Branch) 3-Frederick (Louisville) 4-Goss (Crestwood) 5-Banks (Field) 6-Masters (Salem)
The 285's had some close matches last week. Higgins had a 3-2 win over Minerva's Shelton. I have moved Frederick up based on his results. Both he and one of the Sharp's lost to Carrollton's Dolvin last week, 3-1 for the Branch wrestler and 1-0 for Frederick. I don't have any results of late for Goss. -
