falcon81I think the Golden bears are missing some of their best Talent in JR High to club teams and should be getting a nice crop of kids coming in that were not at the Jr High meet.

WildbearClever Guy;658145 wrote:Second that crew... Can we get a match narration?? Sounds like the Bear's just got an atmospheric tune-up for County. Proudguard I also agree with you about Jr. High County... Team title came down to numbers I'd say, with Northwestern filling all 16 classes I believe. But, rich young talent scattered throughout the league, especially below 128!
Eye poke and two aggressive ankle picks with time running out. Opponent jerked back on whistle where throw bye hand swings past head. Looked like swing/slap attempts. It was a great match. Beam scored two td's in first period with about 8 shots. Several which were pretty deep but fought off. The second was followed with attempted step over and then into a grandby that put them both on the line. Opponent was sitting out of bounds and turned on beam (who was laying on the line) gets reversal and now 2 back. Score now 5-4 with penalty pt. 2nd period Beam down. Spent whole period fighting off two on one ride to no where. Stood and walked out of bounds twice. 3rd period neutral. Beam aggressive with multiple shots deep but again fought off with strength, wizzer's, turning out, etc. One last really sweet head outside, drove opponent to the line, both legs in arms, butt hits down but has hand behind shoulder to bounce up... but No Score as beam would have to pursue out of bounds to maintain any control. Maybe 10 seconds left. Ankle pick off whistle but opponent jerks back at same time and looks like swing thrown. Ding!! Off the whistle very exact same thing. Dbl Ding! Ding! Maybe too much Rocky music or something I don't know. I believe opponent was Izzak Williams and not what our local paper indicates. -
Clever GuyThanks Wild. Matches like this have a way of keeping young guys very hungry... Young Beam will bounce back furiously, I'm sure. Numbers in Jr. High are deceptive! Remember, there are no extra, non-point scorers competing. Which, in a 3 man weight class, I don't understand.

Red RumI heard Nortwestern got 4th at Sanduky DIII duals. Also heard Schaefer & Phillips sqaured off (phillips won by dec). Was anybody there? How did the Huskies look overall?
-
WiseOwlGreat for Schaefer, no substitute for quality mat time!
-
nikstlitslepmurI was there Friday and part of Saturday. Thought the team looked pretty good overall. Plenty of ranked kids in almost all weight classes. 13 of the 14 varsity kids had winning records. I believe that Schaefer, Hershey, Topp and Fortune were 9-1. I like that fact that there is a little break now with only one tri match between now and county. Most importantly everyone is healthy. I think we will see some weight class shifting by the front runners for the wcal although I don't know that for sure. Will take a lot to beat them bears.......seeding, luck and karma will be important factors. Watch out for norwayne...I wouldn't rule them out.
-
nikstlitslepmurThe huskies gave west jeff all they could handle losing by one. They also lost to edison and one other team going 7-3. Schaefer gave phillips a match....which is I would expect.
-
1_beastBeast has given respect to the Huskies ALL year...I think we have some sandbaggin goin on in New Pittsburg/Lattasburg !!! Should be a great prep for sectionals!

Mr Miyagiwell..........Mr Miyagi and Redrum are very , very close to finding out who Falcons " ace in the hole Huskie " is....the investigation will continue and they will be dealt with accordingly........details later this week .......looking forward to a great WCAL tourney. Hopefully the Huskies will finish in the top five......kind of a down year for us......just looking to be competitive ....might even have a couple of guys place.......keep working Huskies and do your best !!!! There is always next year
-
Bloody ToothbrushYa got me!!!....Miyag & Rum are just too clever, Yes it was I, "Bloodythroat" that is guilty of almost everything....false rumors, pianos on sandbars, women being allowed to vote, reality TV & gas prices!!
Since the 2 wonder fools have busted me....I'm going to "out" them, Miyagi & Red Rum are actually Pat Morita & Jack Nicholson....they moved here from LA cause they heard amish chicks are easy!
Now, on to business....
I gotta think Nikstlitslepmur (Nikko) has taken a page out of Beastys book! Creston has some tough kids but I just don't see them challenging Apple Creek & West Salem for the title.
Schaefer/Phillips.....Great match, still Phillips was never in danger. Utley, Schaefer and everyone else is just a step below Phillips.
If the WCAL can take home a state title this year, I'm guessing it will come from one of the following...
1. Bryson Hall
2. Kurt Schaefer
3. Zeb Beam
4. the heavier Nelson (sorry 81, I get the first names confused)
I really don't forsee anyone winning it all this year, but thats the guys with the best shot in order. All the others (Grier, lighter Nelson, etc) will have to do it "Stiltner" style...
Feedback on the state champ odds.....(Rum,Beast,81,R-Man,Nikko,Wildbear,Miyagi,Zoo,Ringz,dad,owl....anyone) -

I think Waynedale will be insanely strengthened as a team. What ever doesn't kill you makes you better. Don't be surprised to see a 140 pound state placer from last year show up at 130 to make a statement and run for State with Stieber at 135. I know two kids that have doubled down on their work ethic and intensity to make a statement at county and districts. He also has not took kindly to a few posts by a certain dark blue School posters. County could be very very intense and entertaining. Let us hope.
Please be careful here. I am sure the boys will be re-instated on friday. But IfZane, at anytime, weighed in at 135.1 or above (even with growth allowence) he would no longer be eligable for 130. Under General Rules section B-Weight Control program; sub sec weigth class eligabilty; it defines this. The example they use is a wrestler with a 130 Alpha.
I only bring this up because there appears to be many "stalkers" they may try to hurt you and I don't want to see that happen. Why a "grown up" would try to hurt a child is beyond me -

I always get confused on this... Are you sure this is correct? I always thought it was 2 weight classes... So he would have had to weigh 140.1 to be ineligible for 30 right? I also thought with this system the reason they made it was if alpha weight is say 135 for sectionals...they could make it that day and it wouldn't matter what they weighed or wrestled during season... I know it's not that way but I thought it was supposed to also be used in that fashion as well... Does anything I just said make any sense? -
Dad4Sports
I'm not sure this applies if he has not made scratch at 130 yet....also the interpretation I've been told is that it does include the growth allowance. So if you make scratch at 130, then you can not weigh in more than 1 "weight class" above that to keep your 130. At that point, "weight class" means whatever that class is for that day....137.0 assuming we are talking after Xmas.Matburn;660552 wrote:Dean;

You cannot not weigh in more than 1 weight class above your lowest weight class OR bump up and wrestle more than 2 weight classes above and still retain your lowest weight class allowed. -
falcon81Incorrect Matburn. Zane is eligible to drop to 130. He has never wrestled above 135 since the 1st week of December. He alpha'd at 130. He will need to make scratch at county or sectionals. This has already been checked! I also believe Zack to have as good of shot at 119 and has alpha'd at 112. They have a "Vision Quest" with what they have been thru . We will see how load they speak on the mat. Rule out no weight class and yes they can both drop! Jmar25 you are corect in your opinion IMO.

we lost a wrestler last year in a very similar situation, his alpha said he could go to 119. He wrestled at 125 for most of the year, but weight in at 127 (with the weight allowance) and he was said to have forfeited 119.
I'm on your side....just be careful -

I think the key there is the growth allowance. The way I've read it and thought to understand the rule was if alpha is 130... The wrestler is allowed to wrestle 30,35,and 40. The only way 30 would be forfeited is if the wrestler would weigh 140.1. Then participate at a meet with the weight above the scratch weight. Then the wrestler would now be eligible at 35,40,45. That is how I thought it works. It had nothing to do with what weight class the wrestle in. all had to do with what they actually weigh. This is the only time where you don't take into account the growth allowance because we are talking about establishing a scratch weight. -
Dad4SportsJMar...I respectfully disagree
This is copied from the OHSAA website: (For simplicity, all examples are listed without growth allowance.)
"A 129.3 pound lowest minimum weight wrestler weighs in at 129.6 pounds, legally wrestling several times at 130 and 135 pounds. Later during the season his/her actual weigh-in weight is recorded at 135.1 pounds making him/her eligible for the 140 and 145 pound weight classes. This requires that he/she surrenders the 130 pound weight class, establishing the new minimum weight class of 135."
You can check it out for yourself......much more detail there

Jmar252. a. A wrestler with a lowest minimum weight of 125 is descending toward his/her lowest minimum weight, but has yet to reach the lowest minimum weight, and weighs in for competition. In compliance with his/her timeline the wrestler weighs in at 132 (making him/her eligible at 135 and 140) and wrestles at 140. The wrestler still retains the opportunity to continue to descend toward the lowest minimum weight of 125 as he/she did not weigh in more than one weight class above his/her lowest actual weight.
Here is the one where I think I get my confusion at. Please tell me if I'm thinking wrong then... So for this wrestler... I'm taking it the alpha weight says he can wrestle at 125 at some point of the year. Correct? But... Has not yet weighed in at 125. Correct? This wrestler then weighs in at at 132 (which is more than 1 weight class above the minimum or alpha weight if 125 is indeed the alpha weight. 130 is one weight class above 125 and 135 is two above correct? This wrestler has no choice but to wrestle 135 since 132 will not work for the 130 weight class.... UNLESS the weight allowance is allowed to matter... which one of the very first thing this section explains is Growth allowance may not be utilized to achieve a lower weight class for a wrestler.) Then wrestles a match at 140 which is 3 weight classes above alpha of 125. Correct? The wrestler still retains the opportunity to continue to descend toward the lowest minimum weight of 125 as he/she did not weigh in more than one weight class above his/her lowest actual weight. So... even though this wrestler has the alpha of 125 and then proceeded to weigh in at a weight 2 classes above the minimum and wrestled in a class 3 above that minimum... They still have the right to continue towards the alpha weight of 125.... I read 2b) and I'm taking that it depends on what weight class your alpha weight says you can be that week.... and depending upon what it says that week is where your one weight class above rule comes in??? What am I not understanding??? I have read and re-read this rule that in all honesty does not affect my duties. I have even dictionary.com'd the word retain to make sure my knowledge of the English language is on the same level of dictionary.com. How does the above scenario work with what rule 1 says?!?! I'm lost and need a professional to decipher this and dumb it down or something. -
falcon81Zane has slowly dropped from 140 . Reaching 135 dec 5th or so. He has never went back to 140 and know can decent to his next lowest weight that he has alpha'd for , The same for Zack at 119. They are great weight cutters when they want to be. They never get more than 3 pounds off their weight. We use the philosophy of training our weight off. No starvation, nosweat suits. Eat 6 small high protein low fat meals a day. Train 3 times a day. 5am(run and drills), 3pm(team practice), 7:30pm (Team Nelson facility). Lots of sleep, Lots of water. We may not drop but it certainly is a strong possibility.

That is the key....if a wrestler has not reached his lowest allowable weight and is in the process of descending there then you are OK. BUT if you have wrestled scratch and certified there, then you are subject to the rule....you cannot weigh in more than 1 weight class above your lowest weight class that you have reached -

Ok. Think I've got it then. So you could start out at 60 and Wrestle at 60 then if your lowest weight is 35... You have all season to get there but once you make 35 you can't go over 40.1... Think I've got this down then
