With the Astros dropping another one last night, anyone think the Indians can catch them for the 2 seed and home field?

They are only 4 back in the loss column. (5 back in win column) Looking at the schedules down the stretch, I think it is really possible.

You jinxed it now, so no.

It absolutely is, but only with a healthy Bauer

Very possible. Astros have a bunch of injuries and a much tougher schedule down the stretch. If I were the Stro's I'd be worried about winning their division with the A's only one game behind them. Houston may not even make the playoffs.

Damn, I didn't realize Carlos was doing so poorly for the Phillies.  .214 BA yikes. My buddy is a Phillies fan and he was excited to get him.  I told him that he was nowhere near worth $60M.

Still getting OB at a solid .350 and have heard Phillies players on MLB now interviewed and saying he’s been a big leader in the clubhouse.

Wow, I periodically check on that division race and figured Houston had a comfortable lead.  I would love if Houston and NYY are playing in the wild card.

He and Mookie are ridiculous. I still have Mook with a slight slight edge but it’s tight.

I wonder who will stay more focused on the meaningless games the last two weeks of the season? I think that’ll decide it.

If José has a 40-40-40 year (only be 2nd one ever...) how can he not win it?.

Currently is at 36-31-27. Need 4 HRs, which seems like a lock. 9 2Bs, which is 1 every 4-5 games (ahead of that pace now). And 13 steals, which is 1 just over every third game. Currently he is at 1 every 4.5 games, so definitely behind there. But also definitely doable if he keeps reaching base.

Oakland is insane. Never expected them to be this good. Expected them to be more like the teams below the Tribe in the Central. Hell, Seattle's only 4.5 games out.

MLB.com has an article listing their picks of each team's best August trade ever.

The Indians was in 2014 when we got Clevinger from the Angels for Vinnie Pestano.

Now the Reds was back in 1984 when they brought Pete Rose back.

I think JD Martinez has a better shot than Betts to win it from his team. Betts & Martinez will cancel some of each others votes out but Lindor, if he gets hot, could do that to J-Ram too. Hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist but I think that award is someone from Boston's to lose.

Because Mookie is right at it as well. Ramirez won’t get 40 SB and Mookie won’t get 40 HR

Mookie has a .025 better OB% and .028 better Slug %...Mookie OPS over 1.1

I’ll guess JRam 46 HR, 39 2B, 36 SB....insane

I’ll guess Mookie 35 HR, 43 2B, 32 SB

But hits count too. Mookie is arguably the best defensive RF In baseball, leading the best team and will win the batting title.

JRam needs to pass him in OPS the way I see it right now....or at least make it neck and neck

Current WAR JRam has edged ahead 8.2 to 7.9, RC+ Betts leads 191-177

All I know is this year they have been more worthy than Mike Trout!

Didnt realize Betts had played 16 fewer games

Jose has better defensive metrics. 7.5 Defensive WAR to Betts 4.9 (using Fangraphs over BBRef). Ramirez is the best base runner in the AL, trailing only Hamilton in MLB. Betts is 5th (7.1 to 5.5). Offensive WAR is Jose is 3rd to Betts 2nd in offensive (56.6 to 54.7). It’s very close. Might be one of the closer votes. In the end though, Jose leading all of MLB in WAR I think will win out.

If I voted today:

  1. Ramirez
  2. Betts
  3. Trout
  4. Martinez
  5. Lindor

And I could easily be convinced to swap JD and Lindor around in 4/5.

1-2 could be either way and same with 4-5

It’s too close with too much to play. JRam 0-2 and just made an error...take away the error and had his first ball went 8 more feet, I’d have him #1...it’s close

Matt Chapman getting screams of love lately to be in the race. I’m not there right now.

Good God that was bad by Guyer. Looked terrible on the last out also. Where did that version of Tyler Olsen come from? Allen looked great.

Bieber is a rookie. We don’t need a fifth starter this year. Don’t really need one next year to be honest lol.

Votto playing is asinine. Could barely run. Suarez looked very very very unlike himself....

I mean give some days off for fuck sakes

Good Luck to the Tribe the rest of the way
