Picked up Keyshawn Woods from Wake Forest as a grad transfer. Senior shooting guard who picked up about 11+ off the bench last year, with his stats being a bit down from the previous year when he started.

Good insurance to have in order to let the incoming freshmen adjust and work their way into the rotation instead of getting 20-25 minutes a game the instant they walk onto the court, regardless of how ready for that they are.

Are Grad transfers something Holtmann has relied on in the past?

I honestly have no clue, but I know that it was a plan for this year, simply due to open roster spots even after a four-man recruiting class. Or perhaps especially because of the four-man recruiting class, because it's going to be a very young team with those four freshmen and the three sophomores along with a few older guys, of whom Jackson is the only established vet (Andre Wesson is good on D, but hasn't really found a consistent offensive game yet and Potter only played 10 minutes a game last year). Helps to get another guy with (hopefully) legit quality to provide veteran influence as the younger guys work into the system.

Besides, I'd rather have 11 legit players and a walk-on or two than last year's 10 legits and 3 walk-ons. 10 just isn't enough depth over a 30-some game season (especially this year, when seven of those 10 will be freshmen and sophomores, as every little "Potter is banged up" or "Kam is suspended" incident where someone misses action just puts a burden on the others. And with how the team was red-hot in January, but seemed a bit worn down by the end of the year, having that extra body might be helpful.

Holtmann was here in Jackson at the playoff football game watching 7’1 Zach Loveday.....play his trombone in the Gallia Academy band.

I think it’s kinda cool he does that. 2nd time this year he’s been at a game for the band

Loveday is a 16 year old junior

Buckeyes lead Bearcats 27-18 at the half. Defense looks very good.

I’m going to start a 2018 OSU thread instead of keeping this one going.
