Yes! That’s who I wanted

Legit asking, not trolling here. What I read about him, he sounds like a white WR.

I’ll trust you guys bc you watch college basketball. But all I see is we took a 6’1 pg without a jumper ?

My thoughts as well. PGs with no shot are plentiful. Why not try and get Shoereder from ATL, or Bledsoe from Miluakee. Then take a guy who has the physical traits to be great in the Association. I was a Porter guy, take a fucking shot. But I don't want watch college ball outside of OSU, so what the fuck do I know?

Philly takes a chance on the younger Antetokounmpo brother to wrap it up. Can't wait to watch Ayton and Bagley battle next season.

Schroeder makes 15.5 each of the next 3 seasons. Pass.

Cavs don't have anything the Bucks want outside of Love.

Porter is too injury proned. The back surgery he had is what Tiger and Steve Kerr(the season Walton took over the team), thats not good.

Sexton at 8 isnt a reach and until LeBron re-signs they shouldnt try to trade Sexton.

No trades involving players who weren't drafted tonight or in future drafts. Weird to see.

Not sure what you mean, but I like Sexton. He’s a freak athlete with explosive burst. He’s a career 33% 3 point shooter, which isn’t great but not terrible. He’s a streaky shooter which id  rather have than just not a very good shooter. He CAN shoot, he will just then go 0/7 from 3 the next game.

Main thing I like about him is he’s fearless. Takes on challenges. He hit that dagger GW shot to basically send bama to the tourney. Even though he can sometimes let his emotions get the best of him, he wants the ball. I like that

LOL...that's funny. The local radio must be stalking you because that's exactly how they described him this morning. The one strong comparison I heard about him was comparing him to Chris Paul. Not in how they played the game as much as he's an alpha.

I'll trust your opinion and proceed to get excited. However, this is the most positive atheltic profile I've read on him,
"-Good not great physical profile for an NBA lead guard. Average height and frame when compared to some of the NBA's elite lead guards." - Source: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Collin-Sexton-91232/

He’s sstill a freak athlete though. That quote just says he doesn’t have freak physical attributes (aka, he’s not 6’5)

from that article:

-Quick twitch athlete with excellent burst. Dynamic in transition. Shifts gears with force. Doesn't need a ball screen to get to the rim. Explosive leaper in space, especially off two feet. - Source: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Collin-Sexton-91232/ ©DraftExpress

thats what I’m talking about. He has that Westbrook explosion that not many players have. If he can work on his shot, he will be a great player.

The main positive that I heard on him was that he was a very good defender, which is nice, but also heard he needs a lot of work on his jumper (33% from 3 at the college level). Not a dynamic scorer that would make an immediate impact. TBH, I really don't know much about the guys, as I'm not an avid college hoops fan, but I haven't heard really glowing praise on him.

To defend him, it also sounds like once you get past the first 3-4 guys in the NBA draft, guys like Sexton (taken at 8) would be more like 2nd or 3rd rounders if it were the NFL if you were to compare/contrast drafts. Not common to find a Donovan Mitchell-type later.

Fair points, ok I'm on board the hype train.

. right off the top of the show here . On the chances of Sexton getting traded: "No way. Dan Gilbert loves this pick."

Print the shirts, build the bust, I'm buying a jersey.

Where did you hear he was a very good defender? I’ve seen that he’s an aggressive defender but is average at best. Almost every scout site I’ve seen has his defense as a weakness.

I also disagree he’s not a dynamic scorer. I don’t think he’ll be a great shooter but he’s definitely a good scorer and someone who can get to the rim with ease.

I loved Sexton at Bama. Had him on the shortlist of guys I wanted. 6’1 is scary for an NBA guard, but I think he can develop a jumper.

The really long wing span makes up for the height issue a little bit. But yeah, not an ideal height.

For what it's worth, he's projected to be the worst defending guard in the top half of the draft: https://dribbleanalytics.blogspot.com/2018/06/using-machine-learning-to-predict-best.html

Collin Sexton's predicted DBPM of less than -2.0 puts him at a level of defense worse than Damian Lillard (whose career DBPM is -1.5), yet not as bad as Isaiah Thomas (whose career DBPM is -2.8). The models predict the De'Anthony Melton will be the best guard defender by a large margin, and Collin Sexton will be the worst by a decent margin.

There is another interesting post about how height & wingspan play into his models and which one translates to being a better defender in the NBA.

https://dribbleanalytics.blogspot.com/2018/04/is-wingspan-or-height-better-predictor.html

Conclusion from the Wingspan v Height arguement, wingspan plays a slightly bigger role in defense than height.

I think if you're expecting Sexton to be an avg defender, you're going to be mistaken. He's probably going to be a negative defender in the NBA, he HAS to make up for it on the offensive end. But if guys like Harden can be in the MVP discussion, I'll buy his potential.

they project him worse than Young? I can't believe that.

Yeah, I’m not sure where BR heard he’s a very good defender. He’s not. But he does go 100% on the court so hopefully that’ll make up for some of the physical attributes he lacks.

You hope he is similar player to Donovan Mitchell? Without diving into defensive numbers I probably don’t correctly understand this is just the first comparison I thought of

Mitchell would be a great comparison as far as his ceiling goes. He would need to greatly improve his 3 point shot though.

These morons here in Cleveland, including a few national guests, have been spewing that shit all day...even the ones who know some hoops. I don't know much about the guy but all I've heard them say was "very good defender." I'll take your word on it. I don't watch enough college hoops to know.
