Julio Franco

Minnie still alive?

Niekro went to 47 or 48 I thought

Hoyt Wilhelm? Bartolo 48?

Julio is correct.

Niekro didn't quite make it to 49.  Topped out at 48.

Hoyt qualifies, but he died in 2002.

Colon went until 45.

One left.

That's it.  Went 2-5 when he was 49.

QUESTION #24:

The most grand slams in a single season is six (6), and only two players have achieved this mark.  One is former Cleveland Indians slugger Travis Hafner, who tallied six in the 2006 season.  The other was a Yankees legend.  Who was it?

Gehrig was all-time leader with 23 until Arod passed him. I guess Gehrig

If Gehrig is wrong I’m remember Mattingly doing something of the sorts

I think that you are right with mattingly. I remember hearing about it when hafner tied him.

Believe it or not, both Mantle and Gehrig are wrong.

"Legend" might have been stretching it, but he did have a lifetime .300+ average, has one batting crown, and led the league in RBI once.

That's it.  Mattingly had six grand slams in his entire career, all in one season.

QUESTION #25

Speaking of grand slams, this slugger who is one of just six players to slug two grand slams in the same game since 1971 also holds the current hit streak record in NCAA baseball.  Who is it?

Ventura?

Ventura?

That'd be it.  Ventura's college hit streak still stands at 58 games, and the game that snapped his streak featured him still reaching on a ball ruled as an error, though some thought it should have been ruled a hit.

QUESTION #26

This Hall of Fame pitcher once led the league with the lowest ERA for a starting pitcher and still managed a winning percentage of just .333 (2.76 ERA, 8-16 record).  Who was it?

That’s 1987 Nolan Ryan....struck out like 275 that year I think as well

QUESTION #27:

This Hall of Fame pitcher with a top-ten career ERA owes much of his pitch movement to a farming accident when he was a child.
