"Touchdown" Tommy Vardell? Boy did he SUCK when he played in the 216.

Here are my two questions for the day:
- What pitcher’s 215 MLB wins (70 with the Indians) left him 99 victories short of his Hall of Fame brother’s win total?
- Whom did the Indians receive in the infamous 1960 trade of Rocky Colavito to Detroit?
Sure did, and was a #1 to boot.
Vardell is correct.
Jim Perry
Harvey Kuehn
Boy was my Dad super salty about the Colavito trade. He brought it up on a regular basis when I was growing up.
#2. Kuenn.
Good job, cat_lover!
And Kuenn was only with the Indians for one season.
🤦♂️

Gaylord Perry was a Horse! One of my all time favorite Tribe pitchers.
*I just looked it up.......He was 39 years old when he won 21 games for the Padres.
Won 70 games in 3 1/2 seasons in Cleveland, and threw over 1000 innings.
His complete games stats are amazing.
Questions for today:
- What six-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman for the Browns was finally inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007, 34 years after his retirement?
- What St. Vincent-St. Mary grad was selected by the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the 1988 NBA Draft following a standout career at the University of Pittsburgh?
Looks like we have some stumpers. (Or everyone is busy today)
Questions are now at the bottom of page 13.

Charles smith is who I think of from those pitt teams, but I don't think that he was from Ohio.
Hint: One of his teammates in HS was Frank Stams. (Notre Dame football and also played for the Browns)
"Send it in Jerome" Jerome Lane
Jerome Lane is correct!
Back in the day, when I was coaching, we met up with Lane and Stams a couple of times in the Districts at the Canton Field House. They beat us, I think twice and we got them once in Lane’s senior year.
What was the very first event held (July 3, 1931) at Cleveland Stadium, and who were the two participants?

Baseball seems too obvious. I'll guess boxing.
It’s boxing, but I can’t remember who.
Also, one of the reasons for building the stadium was to host Olympics. Never happened.
Here’s my joke answer: Burr vs. Hamilton
You guys are right. Professional Boxing, Schmeling vs Stribling. Burr and Hamilton were on the undercard.
Attendance: 36,000
Max Schmeling had some big fights with Joe Lewis (Germany vs. USA)
Interestingly enough, Schmeling set up training camp at Conneaut Lake Park, and Striking had his at Geauga State Park.
Jerome Lane is from SVSM!? Never knew.
