Thoughts after the game were that this defense looks like it could be lights out by the time they get to the Chargers game. They have 3 more games, against some mediocre offenses, to build their confidence. Couple of boneheaded gaffes allowed this to be MUCH closer than it should be.
With upcoming games, it's feasible that Garrett could be at 9-10 sacks by the Chargers game and it's not looking like he's going to have competition from TJ Watt this year (tough break).
Brissett is still "meh." DPJ stepped up a bit and Schwartz shockingly caught a ball thrown to him. Would've liked to have seen more Bryant/Njoku (TE's) get involved.
Chubb is still a beast. Hunt compliments him well and FINALLY Stefanski did what I've been wanting for two years, both of them in the backfield at the same time. I'm not sure they are going to be able to do this to every team (rush for 200+ yards) but it would be nice.
Tip of the cap to James Hudson & Ethan Pocic who did admirably on the O-Line.
Today was a snapshot of why they moved on from Mayfield. Outside of two long plays he was horrible. Still poor footwork, getting passes down and wild high with his passes.
Nothing more needs to be said about Cade York. #stud
Bonus ad: Jim Donovan's the effin' man. If you haven't heard his call on York's game winner, it's Tom Hamilton-esque.
Good to FINALLY be 1-0 going into the home opener with the Joe Flacco-led Jets.
