^^^We still go to a few games a year, and watch a bunch on TV. I'm going to devote a "very little bit of time" to this time curiosity of mine.

I believe it is 1:30 of commercials. ~2:00 between pitches. I’m sure networks try and sneak in 2:00 worth every so often and that’s when we are at commercial before the umpire makes the out signal and back just in time for the 1st pitch of next inning.

But I also haven’t worked a baseball game in about 2 years, so I’m not sure at all lol

While there may be some things with broadcasts, time, etc. that need fixed (to help speed it up), the other problem that will never be fixed, unfortunately, is the problem with the fan.  When I went to a game with my folks growing up, I didn't care about going home.  I wanted to stay at the park all day.  Home could wait.  Society's problem now, is that there is ALWAYS something else to do.  Baseball needs to hurry up, so I can go do something else.

This is true.  It also doesn’t help that most all games are at night compared to times past.

Many blame the pitchers, but the problem is the batters stepping out of the box after  e v e r y  s i n g l e  p i t c h  to adjust their gear which is total bs.  Get in the box, stay in the box, and play the game.

Sean Casey, the human rain delay while at bat.

I seee more micro managing from the dugout as well with catchers looking in between every pitch when someone is on base.

Also, strikeouts are soaring, and outpacing hits.    Saw a chart awhile ago that the pitches per at bat is around 4, and up 1 pitch per at bat since the early 80s.

Just one pitch...aint much right?  When it is each batter, each inning, each game on average and 20-30 seconds between each pitch then we are at about 20-30 seconds more per at bat, with a minimum of 1 min per half inning.....

Just that right there can add 16-20 min/game over the early 80s....

If a game is filled with action, I don't mind a long game. If a game is long because there is a minute between pitches, then I have a problem with it.

Concur, and I do believe that scoring is up over the years but the difference from then and now is it is more feast or famine. Runs are coming more via the HR than multiple hits.

Just read an article about rule changes:

- no more extra inning “ghost runner”

- no more 7 inning Double Headers

- National League will use DH

- players can’t be sent to minors more than 5 times in one season

Love it all. Only thing I didnt mind (but also fine that its gone) is the 7 inning DH.

Next year everyone plays everyone at least 1 series, one fewer division series with each division team

They're so rare any more, particularly scheduled ones, it's hard to care one way or the other.

Ok, here it is:

Today's KC-Cleveland game. The time between the last pitch of the top of the 1st until the first pitch at the bottom of the 1st was 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
