You can ban it, but you'll have to set barriers.  And when you do, teams will go as close to the barrier every single time.

But would be similar to how we grew up….not Manny making catches on the warning track (though I am here fir that shit lol)

MLB has become unawatchable to me. I may have watched 9 innings this past season.

I dont mind the length of games to an extent, but when there are just as many, or more, strikeouts in the game than actual hits then it makes it very unenjoyable to watch.

I expect ST to get delayed a bit next spring.  The season will start pretty close to on time.      They will use the shortened ST as an example/reason to shorten in moving forward because they do not need all of that time.

Proposals I read where they want to increase the postseason?  My Lord, if they do that then they HAVE to scale back to 140 games.

I think the big question is whether Ohtani has enough support in states to become president. If he was eligible under any circumstance, that is. Miggy was the combo breaker to keep him from owning the west/SW coast. And the Mondesi/Riley duo kept him from having the entire southern coast and SE coasts.

Also, virtually every state follows a current player the most, but Montana is there with Hammerin' Hank. That's kind of weird in itself that a state's most popular is a guy who's currently dead and hadn't played in many decades. Double (or triple, or quadruple) that for Tennessee and Shoeless Joe and give it to North Dakota on a lesser level for Barry Bonds.

Also also, LOL at the Rockies. A very recently former player for them is #1 in Wyoming, but in Colorado, it's KC's Whit Merrifield.

Good catch with the Arenado/Merrifield

My searches this past year would definitely have been Ohtani, DeGrom and Beiber (especially before injury).

Mine were all over the place as many would guess….depending on the argument/debate I’m in on RedsZone/twitter etc, probably Kyle Farmer for me lol

Mine were probably random Pirate call-ups to see if they were legit minor league players or if they'd hit another new low and were filling out their roster with Walmart greeters and fast food drive-thru workers.

Oh, I was all over the place. I look up guys daily. But Ohtani was almost 3x a week. DeGrom and Beiber were each start.

Gimme universal DH.

Ban the DH altogether; let's play real baseball.

In 1980 the average duration of a MLB game was 2:33

In 2020 the average duration of a MLB game was 3:07

Many blame the pitchers, but the problem is the batters stepping out of the box after  e v e r y  s i n g l e  p i t c h  to adjust their gear which is total bs.  Get in the box, stay in the box, and play the game.

Saw that. Manfred is not only incompetent, but he's a little bitch as well.

The umpire doesn't have to grant time out to the hitter. Maybe a rule is needed where a team gets a certain number of timeouts for the game or inning, or however they want to do it.

We just need to implement the pitch clock when bases are empty. It applies both to the pitcher (has to be released by then) and the hitter (has to be in with XX on the clock).

Do that for a year, with other changes, and re-asses. If the game is still too slow, because the pitch clock doesn't work with men on base, then you can try something for that. But I think just do certain things that have worked at every level so far, first. Then go from there.

I went to two minor league games with a pitch clock in place. It did nothing to hurt the game and it may have helped establish a pace of play which was agreeable.

3 hours per game is ridiculous.

The Time between half-innings......

Is it dictated by the tv networks so that they get a certain number of commercials to the viewer?

Has the time between innings changed now that every local team broadcasts almost every game?

Yeah, they need to get commercials. The solution maybe to have all games start at :15 after the hour...pump in commercials during that "pregame" and shorten each half inning by 15 seconds.

Straight up, I haven't ever timed the time between last pitch of a half inning to first pitch of the next. Do you know what it is?...........Does MLB have a set time between?

I'm probably just nick picking by now, just curious about it.

At least 3 more pitching changes per average…..that’s 12 min right there and then every single reliever in trouble works so much slower than most starters do. Pitching is the #1 factor easily.

I would have been able to tell you this exactly (or near exactly) a year or two ago, but because of the whole deal where Dish stopped carrying the former Fox Sports Ohios (current Bally Sports), I haven't watched baseball via that route at my one friend's. Because we'd use the DVR to give us a buffer to fast forward between commercials and it'd either be 3 or 4 clicks at 30 seconds each. So for regional regular season games, it's either 1:30 or 2 minutes for commercials. Postseason is definitely longer; not sure about regular season national games.
