I don’t know who is going to win, but it’s going to be a massacre. And it’s going to be awesome. Head superintendent said he wanted the winning score to be +8, so that’s how they are setting up the course. The rough is going to be disgustingly long. Going to be a “real” US Open.

Over 7,400 yards and par 70 ......then add in US Open conditions and amazing green complexes running at 13 on the stimp ........look out.

Yeah, I don't want to see +8. I'd like to see anything from -2 to +2 win it.

This tournament always brings to mind the most unbelievable tournament performance in my lifetime - Tiger's 2000 US Open win.  I'm 50 years old and cannot recall a more dominating performance in any sport like that during my lifetime.  Still unbelievable to me.

+8 won’t be fun. That would be watching guys shoot 80 and move up the leaderboard. Give me E (+/- 1 or 2) and I’m happy.

  • Tier 3 - Fitzpatrick
  • Tier 4 - Hatton
  • Tier 5 - Im
  • Write In - Stenson
  • Write In - Harmon

Tiger's ball just got swallowed by the thick rough. Yikes.

The greens are pretty soft right now. Guys still struggling when they get out of position though. Expect these scores to go way up on the weekend if they don’t water.

Saw this factoid on the US Open site.

In Thursday's opening round, a total of 21 under-par scores were registered, nine more than were recorded for the entire championship in 2006.

A 380 yard tee shot sets Bryson up for a 10' eagle putt on his last hole of the day.

And he sinks the putt for a 68. Nice round.
