I thought Pitt and Jack Dawson did a good acting job, but I found the plot long, boring and very uninteresting.

That's where I'm at.  Although Leo was good, his character was beyond boring and dragged the whole film way down. If you deleted all of his scenes, then you'd have about half of a very entertaining movie.

I didnt really realize it until after the movie thought that there isnt a QT movie that i like so maybe it is just his style.

We went with three other couples and all 8 of us really didnt like it (guess its true that birds of a same feather flock together) and by reading reviews it really was a love or hate it sort of movie.

That’s fair, and I do think it’s a QT is a love or hate. In fact, I love and hate his movies haha. But I think the only boring part was when Tate was watching her own movies...yet it was necessary for the plot. QT was trying to convey how Dalton was a former star who was aging and on the downside of career, while Tate was loved by everyone, young and could do no wrong. That she was going to be Dalton in 25 years, if not for the Manson Family murdering her.

When taking a broader look at what QT wanted to get across, no scene is wasted. That said, some can come across as boring if you don’t like his style (I frankly love it most of the time).

I also love QT for always being original. He shoots his movies his way. He writes original plots. He does it all the way he wants and doesn’t rely on adaptations or comic books to make incredible movies, which I think it to be applauded in 2020.

Im also someone who was pretty fascinated by Manson and the Manson Family. This Alt-Universe was fun to be apart of, for me.

I’m also curious if you liked Inglourious Basterds. Which, imo, is the gold standard  for movie making the last decade+.

As for QT, my tiers of excellent, fine, awful:

  • Basterds
  • Django
  • OUATIH
  • Jackie Browne
  • Pulp

  • Hateful Eight
  • Reservoir Dogs

  • Kill Bill
  • Kill Bill 2
  • Death Proof

IMHO:

1) Pulp Fiction

2) Django Unchained

3) Ingloriuous Basterds (almost 2b)

4) Resevoir Dogs

5) Jackie Brown,

6) Hateful8

7) Kill Bill

8) Dusk til Dawn (Hayek FTW)

NA: Death Proof or Once Upon Hollywood

FYI, he did not direct. Not considered one of his “10” films.

I think everyone gets that.  It's not some great insight (not you, I mean QT) or even that original as a story line goes. IMO, entirely uncompelling.  Watching Dalton work his craft wasn't necessary to the story, and all it really served was to drag the movie out another 20 minutes. I guess if QT had made office space, we would have gotten 20 minutes watching Kevin fill out TPS reports.

The best scene may have been Leo in his trailer after sucking it up on set.

Anyway, you two are in the minority, crazy and don’t appreciate great cinema!!! Lol

9/10 Ford vs. Ferrari

Damon, especially, just put on a terrific performance.  But the acting all around was generally great.

I know it was nominated, but I still didn't expect it to be so exciting and gripping, even despite knowing generally of the story.

I've wondered several times if the reason I actually liked it was that I came in with such low expectations (not without precedent for DC movies), but either way, I did enjoy it.  Not sure I'd watch it again.  Might have to be in the mood.

If you think about it, the only truly good DCEU movie so far has been Wonder Woman (was actually great). Ok, Aquaman wasn't too bad either, I would put it in the "good" category.

BvS sucked.

Justice League's plot look like it was thrown together in 5 minutes to compete with the Avengers' movies.

Man of Steel was ok at best.

Suicide Squad was a great idea, poorly put together.

I get what you are saying, with as terrible as DC has been recently (other than WW the last truly great DC movie was the Dark Knight Trilogy), going in assuming the worst, etc.

While I didn’t think it was very good, Joker was just up for Best Picture...

I forgot about Joker, I actually thought it was pretty good.

I maybe on the O-trap problem though, I went in assuming the Joker was going to be bad (DCEU plus bad initial critic reviews).

Birds of Prey - I couldn't get into it at all. Ewan McGregor was the only part that was decent to me. Harley was much better in Suicide Squad.
