NPC?
Non Playable Character. It's a way to denigrate them. The NPC's in games that always tell you what to do (quests) because that is what they are programmed to do. It's used politically now lol
It's gamer lingo, primarily used in MMORPGs for a character that isn't controlled by a real person.
Essentially, people are using it to refer to people as unthinking, unreasoning, politically lazy drones who regurgitate the same talking points (like the limited line rotation of an NPC) without being able to expound on them, think critically on their own, or differentiate their own reasoning from that of those from whom they are spoonfed information. The idea is that they are so seemingly incapable of original thought that there is reason to believe that they are not actually even real individuals, but part of the environment of earth.
It's a pretty fucked up theory.

But a really funny theory for me, as a guy who has played a lot of RPGs (which is where it came from; MMORPGs came a long way after NPCs, you N00B!!!!), but doesn't pay much attention to all the political namecalling and shit.
