Started watching the BBC version of The Office recently. Also bumping this so people stop posting tv shows in the movie thread.
Your welcome, ernest.

never heard of it? quick google search shows its animated? is that the one youre refering to?
Yes. It's on Prime. JK Simmons voices the main character. It's from the guy that created The Walking Dead.
posted by justincredibleOriginal British versions are always better. Singles (or was it Couples?) was way funnier on BBC. Office, too.Started watching the BBC version of The Office recently.
Been watching "La Brea", and wondering every week why I'm still watching it. And I like the premise, it's just poorly written....poorly acted....and lacks hot women.
Not sure there's been a new show in the last 2-3 years that I like.
I did not like British Office at all. And I like Ricky Gervais.

Maybe. But I don't subscribe, so no.

Oh. Well yeah, if you aren’t paying for HBO, Showtime, Netflix, Disney, etc you aren’t gonna get very good television consistently.

The Mandalorian. You win

Wasn’t trying to win. We have similar tastes in a lot of movies and shows, and I’ve enjoyed a bunch of new stuff over the last 3 years. Was more surprised you hadn’t/we didn’t overlap.

No, I honestly was at a loss for new shows in the last 2-3 years. Shows I DISCOVERED, but had been running for a while.
I guess Evil also fits. Manifest, but that quickly fizzled for me.
Oh, and Resident Alien. Legit great show.

I am in the same boat. Love the premise, reminds me of the Terranova from like 10 or so years ago that only lasted one season.
The acting has been bad so far. They made sure to check every single “box” from ethnicities to genders to sexualities to even disabilities in their actor/actress choices. Maybe they went for inclusion over who was acting the best in casting.
The main woman and the pilot she had an affair with are the only two I remember on any other show, ever.
He was on The Good Doctor before he got killed off and she was on The Unicorn on a couple episodes before they wrote her out.
That’s it, I can’t think of ever seeing any of the other actors on anything else and I hope they didn’t just go after box checking in lieu of the best actors for the job.
I was really hoping the show would be great as I love sci fi stuff. So far it’s been bleh. I hope it turns around ASAP.

Same, love US Office, didn’t find British that good and I also love Gervais.

I was same on Manifest. Loved the first few episodes, stopped watching by the end of season 1.

Ha! The doctor was on Chicago PD the first season or two, I think. And there's an older female cop that had a minor recurring character on NCIS LA
Which is fine. I think most shows start with all unknowns. But some of those are actually good actors, so clearly the writing/production sucks.

I like it, it's very funny. But I still like the US version more.
David Brent is worse than Michael Scott.

Touché, I had not seen Chicago PD but I do admit that I seem to have recognized the faces of the old policewoman, the doctor, and the husband that has visions. Just couldn’t place any of them to a show.

I want to add I am all for the diversity if they are the best actor for the role. I just am against the “well if the character is an amputee you better cast an amputee rather than an ‘able bodied’ actor” mindset.
I saw Eternals last weekend and they changed the speedster Eternal from a white male who can talk/hear in the comics to a woman of color who is deaf (in real life and the movie) and I actually think it went over well because her acting was pretty good.
Saw some of her interviews since the seeing the movie (I didn’t know she was deaf in real life) and she is actually quite funny as well.
Sorry, tangent.
But La Brea is just been bad acting and/or terrible direction to get the acting right so far.
Like I said, I love the show’s plot/idea, just been not great so far.
La Brea seems like it would be similar to the book Outland by Dennis Taylor. If you like the *idea* of the show, check the book out.
This Adele special is top notch
I really liked the pilot for Mayor of Kingstown. The first two episodes are out on Paramount Network (CBS)

I've used "It's so bad it's good" to justify continue watching.
