Wait, you only made $115 in 7 hours..?

I'm curious to know what you meant by this.

If I’m going to do something for 7 hours, I sure as shit hope I make more than $115.

I was going to say $16 an hour isn't bad for some extra cash....but that's only considering gas, and not maintenance of the vehicle.  And I don't know how much higher your insurance is if you provide a ride service.  I'm thinking the net might be more like $12 an hour, before taxes.

I thought I read that you don’t have to tell your insurance carrier because uber provides insurance for their drivers (while driving for uber). I also heard the insurance is trash though.

Yeah, Lyft and Uber have insurance. I don't remember how good it is though. Either way it's not a job. Just something to do or to make a little extra cash. As I said, I won't be doing it long.

That's interesting.  I know my auto and umbrella policies asked me if I was a driver.  I'm not, so I have no idea what happens if it was Uber or Lyft.

I had two crazy rides last weekend. I was in Lakewood when I got an alert for a trip that said OH-2. I assumed it was someone who ran out of gas or whose car broke down. So I pull up behind the car with the hazards flashing and noticed two black girls walking towards me with a gas can. They explain to me that they were on their way to Dave and Buster's when they ran out of gas. They blame the guy who owns the car for ruining their night, saying they would just rather go home at this point. The gas station they put in for their trip ended up being closed, so I decided to be a nice guy, turn off the app, and take them to the next gas station for free. We passed a few bars in Lakewood and the one girl asked how nice the bars were and what kind of people usually frequented them. I said I didn't know but she made a quick assumption, saying to the other girl in a "white voice" "do you want to go rub elbows with Susan and Helen?" So then we make it back to the exit and noticed the cops were behind the car. They questioned whether they even wanted to stop, so there was obviously something going on. We stop and they leave their stuff in the van. I'm wondering what is going on, but I remained there expecting them to pay me cash for their ride home or request a new ride with Lyft. So a few mins later the guy comes stumbling up, high or drunk, and gets into the front seat. They then ask if I can run them home and I tell them they should request a ride because the closest driver gets the ride. So she does it and it turns out they were going to Euclid. So I found out within the first few mins that not only was he high or drunk, he also was driving with a suspended license. So then  25 miles of listening to the guy begging me to turn around because he needed his car and the women telling him that he was an idiot for trying to go back and how he ruined their night. I get them to Euclid, they get out, and I notice candy wrappers under my seat. I didn't get a tip, but I did get told 3 or 4 times that I was the best Lyft driver, how I was getting a 5 star rating, and candy wrappers left under my seat.

Then later on I got a call from Parma to Lakewood. It was a 75 percent prime time run, so it was going to be a decent run. So I get to the bar and 3 guys walk out. 1 guy decides he can drive, so he hops in his vehicle and I leave with the other two. We get a mile down the road and the other guy calls the two In the cab, asking if we could go pick him up. So we go to the place he made it to, the guys get out, go get in his vehicle, and then sped off. Who does that?

Ah ok.

I had my first puker this past weekend. I tried to be cool about it. I even thought about not telling Lyft. I was going to clean it up and go on about my night if the people would have acted differently. The woman whose account it was wasn't the person who threw up, but they both ran out of the vehicle and kind of hurried into the hotel. They didn't acknowledge that it happened or anything. I thought I would clean it up and keep it to myself if they tipped me and told me about it but neither happened, so I told Lyft.

Yeah, I'm not sure it's worth the risk of someone puking in my nice new car, regardless of whether or not Lyft/Uber will pay to clean it up.

Yeah, I would agree if my car was newer. They charged the person $150. This will probably be my last weekend doing it, because I'm about to turn my apps in for my business.
