I wonder how many people still assume “the tip is included”, as Uber kind of referenced this early on. It was a way to get more users away from Cabs.

posted by justincredibleI'm working a beerfest on Friday night so I won't be able to drive, but I'm contemplating driving on Saturday night to take all the drunks home.
Watch out for power zones. If you plan to go all over Cincinnati, there should be zones where you make extra money for runs.
Which is better, Uber or Lyft?

There's really no difference. I pick whichever one sends me the better discount code.

I know it took me a while to figure it out.

This is what 80 percent of the people I have picked up have said. I've given 67 rides so far and Uber usually comes up every time. A few of the people don't care for the local Uber drivers, so they only use Lyft but a lot of the people have said they use whichever finds them a ride quicker.

Uber's cars are a lot nicer...
posted by bigdaddy2003This past weekend I did prob 25 rides and 11 people tipped.
Congrats! Your percentage is rising.

I couldn’t tell you the last time I was in one that wasn’t also the other.

Considering they are personal vehicles this would depend on the driver. I've ridden in some ratty cars through Uber.

Okay.
Justin, if you do it tomorrow, let me know how you like it.

50 miles. I live in a rural area. The closest big area is Sandusky and Lyft is still relatively unknown out here. I know, it's crazy to drive 50 miles to do it, but with the power zones, it's ok, only on weekends though.

Gotcha, I think I remember, quite a distance

Yes, but I only do it on the weekends and it usually works out for me. As I said In a previous post I probably won't do it much soon as I'm close to opening my medical transportation business.

I didn't end up driving tonight. I had a little too much fun last night so I didn't move much today.
I had a pretty good night. I mostly stayed in the power zone which is by Ohio City and Tremont near downtown Cleveland. One of my last rides was a mile away. I made 3 something for the ride itself and 10 for a bonus. Oh and a 2 dollar tip.
I cleared $115 after gas.
How many hours did you drive?

But how much of that was actual driving (as opposed to hanging out waiting for a trip)?
Wait, you only made $115 in 7 hours..?

I did 14 runs, so yeah there was plenty of time that I didn't have a run.

Yes. I don't think that is bad for a side gig, 1 night of the 3 I do it.
