We all spend money of various things... I could never pull the plug on a shirt for that much.  They look really nice and comfortable, though.  What is the noticeable difference from a cotton button down?

Breathability and odor resistance are the big selling points for me. I've read of folks who wore this exact shirt for 100 days straight without washing it with no noticeable odor. And, having seen the shirt in person now, it's ridiculously soft. Should be easy to dress nicer in the mugger Cincinnati summers as I usually walk a mile to and from my parking spot for work. I have a couple wool long sleeve t shirts and I can wear them a lot before they need washed. I wore one for the entire week I was in the boundary waters this summer and it didn't stink when I left.

Maybe you just have a sweet odor.  No homo.

Nah. I stunk, but the shirt didn't.

I just got dental coverage with orthodontia included, I'm planning on biting the bullet on invisalign in 2019. We should have enough HSA money to cover the rest.

Make sure your kid wears their retainer afterwards. I had braces at 12/13 years old and here we are.

Justin hit on most of them, but I'll also throw in my experience.

  • bit of stretch
  • odor resistence
  • temperature control - probably the best benefit. Helps keep cool in the summer, and warmer in the winter.
  • durability - will last a long time
  • its very nice and soft to the touch - better than cotton IMO

Wool is superior to cotton in every way IMO. It's worth the cost to me, but to each their own.

Yep, all of this.

Just bought some brewing equipment. A 15 gallon brew kettle with two welded ports, a ball valve, and a thermometer to put together for a basic hot liquor tank. I've found that the best batch of beer I've made so far included me using a super makeshift HLT that was a total pain in the ass to operate. This will allow me to do the same thing, but with almost zero effort.

Bought a new suit.  I've never been a big pattern guy, and I've never owned a navy blue suit before, but the one I got has a nice, subtle plaid pattern to it, and it fits nicely.

You forget how well a suit can look when you're so used to just buying off-the-rack.

Damn, in bay area?  I assume you could buy 5-6x the house in my bumpkin neck of the woods.

I tried to talk Mrs. COA into moving back to Cleveland. Pay cash for a house, free child care, retire at 50. Couldn't sell a California girl on it unfortunately. All well, I knew that going into it.

Only reason I'm able to even consider buying a home in the bay area is due to no college debt, a big sum of money from FIL when we got married, and my last company going public and cashing out stock. Bay Area is fucking nuts. We looked for housing for a freaking yr, and were rejected from several options, We were literally outbid by $350k on one house, and we bid $40k over asking.

I just bought a Raspberry Pi 3 B+.  Was tired of using a laptop as the entertainment setup in the family room.

I bought some new shoes recently. Two different pairs of New Balance 574 Sports. Bought a travel golf bag for my upcoming trip to Vegas.

Got these last week, attempting to break them in. Not going so well, they are destroying my feet. Thankful for REI's one year return policy!

LOL. I'm not a dad so I don't think I'm legally allowed to buy white NB's.

That was the best possible reaction.

Even if I'm living in CA, for those prices, I'm moving down to La Jolla or something.

Dads buy white New Balances because we spend so much on our kid's shoes. Just picked up an ugly ass pair of Adidas Ultraboosts that my 14 year old "had" to have.
