My cousin is a nurse in Michigan.
She has been tested today because she has a mild case of all the symptoms.
She is in self quarantine in her house, separated from her husband who is a firefighter/paramedic.
He is to also self quarantine until her test result comes back (48 hours) or 14 days.
They are both healthy in their mid 40s. The scary part is her mom and step dad live close to them and are over all the time. Her step dad has health problems and they are in their mid to late 60s.
Based on the fact she has every symptom, down to the altered taste, I am 99% sure she has it. Just hope she didn’t pass it to her mom.
SMH. Your cousin should know better. Michigan is a hotbed for this shit right now so why is she - a frontline worker - spending time with her older, sick(ish) parents. Literally the opposite of what you’re suppose to be doing.

How bad do we expect things to get tomorrow when a large chunk of people can't pay their rent/mortgage? And, seeings as this doesn't look like it's going to end soon, what does it look like on May 1st?

“Chinese students at MOUNT UNION were wearing masks 6 months ago. This is definitely the Chinese government paying back Trump for what he did to them!!”
God damn I’ve missed this site

1. She is a nurse but doesn’t work at a hospital. So she isn’t on “the front line”. She is a nurse that travels around to older/sick people’s houses, as they are in the ladder stages of terminal diseases but want to die at home and she checks their vitals, takes care of their needs, etc daily. She has had to take inventory of her temperature and symptoms daily for this reason. But she hasn’t been around hospitals where the high number of cases are at. She is 1 on 1 with patients.
2. She doesn’t live anywhere near Detroit, which is the “hotbed” in Michigan.
3. Don’t make assumptions, it will make you look like the first 3 letters.
And despite all of that, you’re “99% sure” she has it still. Hospital or hospice, you don’t know what patients have come into contact with what. That’s the fundamental reason these social distancing guidelines exist.

I don't know who needs to know this (haven't caught up with all the posts), but it is very common in Asian cultures to wear masks, especially when they are sick. It's a common courtesy in Asian countries and honestly after traveling to Vietnam and Japan I kinda wish most countries adopted it. It drives me crazy when people are sick coughing up a lung and don't cover their mouths.

In some solid Italy news, yesterday's new cases were only 3 more than the previous day. The bubble is going to burst imo in couple weeks.

Your cousins a moron. Stay away from your parents during a self-quarantine. It’s simple.

Most banks are allowing for hardship waivers for a mortgage payment or two. And renters have right if they miss a payment or two. I imagine if your renter doesn’t pay, you can request the bank to give you a hardship waiver. I doubt it becomes a huge deal, but who knows.

I'm assuming that you'll have to fill out paperwork for the waiver, correct?

Except for those just starting out in their grownup lives, and those who have had a catastrophic event, anyone at or above the 33rd income percentile (a little over $40K) has no excuse for missing a single paycheck being a disaster. Sadly, the "stimulus" checks to be received will blunt any motivation to change that when things get back to normal.

Hard to tell at times. On FB this morning, I saw a post by someone I kind of know saying that because it's called COVID-19, that means there were 18 failed attempts and this one is the one that worked...FOOD FOR THOUGHT!
Despite how 5 fucking seconds on Google would explain that the 19 means 2019, when this particular strain originated.
In other words, there might be no depths to the level of shit people will believe in a time of uncertainty as they try to turn crackpot conspiracy theories into reality because, hey, what the fuck, no one REALLY knows, right?!??!?
Preparations A thru G were failures...
