I had a bunch of old records given to me by my in-laws so I decided to buy a starter turntable last week. I picked up the Crosley C100 turntable after seeing it recommended on Reddit and checking out the reviews on Amazon. Ended up saving me $100 as the turntable I was planning on buying was quite a bit more expensive. Even in the age of having pretty much every song ever made available to stream instantly, there is something about the physical act of swapping out the record. I also tend to be more engaged in the music, not just playing it for background sound.

Currently playing Stardust by Willie Nelson.

Yesterday I "spun" The Band by The Band and Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys.

Looking forward to some major record hunting once this bullshit all blows over.

I have about 30-40 at home. Was thinking about adding a few to that number, but have to wait until the local record store opens back up to do that.

This thread depresses me. My next “splurge” purchase was going to be in the fall and it was a vinyl player hooked up to some speakers in our fireplace room. Then buy a bunch of my favorite records. Was looking forward to listening to them by the fire this winter with a glass of whiskey.

Alas, I currently have no income. So this is obviously on hold.

It'll still happen.

I would love to. I love the cracking and popping sound. I just don’t really have space in our apartment. When we eventually buy, I’ll for sure invest in something.

I have around 30. Expensive hobby. I haven’t listened in a while and my turntable is right in my living room. Maybe I’ll fire it up tonight.

The worst part is my parents had HUNDREDS of records. I told them not to get rid of them years ago, but my dad said they did when they moved in 2016. Sigh...

My parents were downsizing last year and gave me their vinyl collection, full albums and a lot of 45s. It is a mix of music from the 70s and 80s. It is a mix of Eagles, Foreigner, Billy Joel, Micheal Jackson, Cars, Boston, Chicago, Stevie Wonder, Styx, and other typical rock and soft rock groups from that era.

I didn't have a record player, but bought one on Amazon for half off on Black Friday. It is the Wockoder. It is fine and works well. I enjoy listening to them as most of the time it is songs I have not heard in years or since I was a kid.

Oh yeah. Every Eagles, Beatles, Stones, Billy Joel, Elton John, Michael Jackson, etc.

They actually had 3 of every Beatles. My dads, my moms and my dads brother died young and my dad got his records, so more Beatles.

Technics – direct drive, SL-D2.  Still works well despite its age :)   Had to replace the stylus about 15 years ago when I resurrected the system.

Our album collection runs the gamut from classic rock to new wave to jazz, but the majority would be material from the late ‘60’s through mid ‘80’s.  We have added about a dozen new records in the last couple of years as vinyl made a resurgence.  I think we were playing some Eric Clapton – ‘Slow Hand’, the other night, along with Michael Stanley Band – ‘Stage Pass’, and even The Outlaws – ‘Playin’ to Win’ and the debut album from ’75 with the epic track ‘Green Grass & High Tides’.  The new stuff includes Imagine Dragons and The Killers.

Literally could be playing albums from Led Zeppelin to Spyro Gyra; Ultravox to Marshall Tucker Band.  LOL

^^^Speaking of Michael Stanley, his band recently did a live reincarnation of STAGEPASS called STAGEPASS REVISITED. It's not on vinyl, but it is on Youtube!

Spoiler........they did leave off a couple of tunes from the original.

The 10 minute intro is worth watching, some good info there.

Rumours is one of the all-time greatest selling albums.  I am clutching my Dire Straits, but may trade for food in August if this situation keeps up.  A quick look last night, we might be closer to 400 albums than 300.
