Anyone have one of these? Anyone have the combo?

All I need is a Fire Stick. What's the Sling TV add?
I have and older Fire Stick that we don't use anymore, it was pretty sluggish. I hear the newer ones are much faster, though. I had SlingTV at one point but didn't keep it past the trial subscription. It seemed fine, we just didn't watch it enough to justify the cost.
We have one of those Roku sticks and somehow my girlfriend has found a channel/website where we can see current movies. Some are very good, some are pretty sketchy, where it looks like someone was filming the flick from their cell phone in a theatre.
We have a jailbroken firestick, Netflix, an antenna, and ESPN/Fox Sports logins that I borrow from a friend. That covers just about everything.

I hve 2 firesticks. I have cable mostly for sports and local news. I can't think of anything else that I can't get on the firresticks.

I know I've seen this discussed before, but can't remember - what does jail-breaking a FireStick or Roku do for you? And what software do you need to use them?

Jailbreaking downloads some apps on the FireStick. Those apps allow for streaming of what you want. For us, we used it for movies, television shows, and live sports. Doesn't cost anything. But, allows us to have an endless supply of movies and shows.

Kodi is the go to software for now.

Kodi developers have come under attack by Netflix and some of the other pay services and is constantly changing. I think Terrarium Tv is the most stable app right now.

That's pretty much the same deal we have with the Roku. We were going to get one of the FireStick's when we realized we had everything we needed already.

Hmm, might try to get one in the foreseeable future.

Do you have a link to how you did your firestick?
You can find everything you need to know on you tube. Type in jailbreak firestick.
I just hooked up my firetsick tonight
Unreal call on that fumble.

I don't. My father-in-law has a guy a work that does them, and he gifted it to us. I found some setting modifications on Youtube that made it more efficient, but otherwise I didn't have to to anything.
There may already be a thread on this but I wanted to bump this one as it's somewhat related. As I mentioned earlier, we have the Roku stick. We're getting ready to dump cable and are thinking about going with the Playstation Vue. Anyone have experience with this? If so, can you get local channels? Wouldn't want to lose Sunday football.

I think it’s always easiest to get an antenna for local TV. You can get an AirTV if you want. But, I do believe PSV has local channels.

We couldn't find any local channels on it. I'm looking at this AirTV. Would you need to buy that and then just get a subscription to either Vue, Sling, etc? You'd get your local channels from AirTV and your cable channels from the other streaming device, I assume?

Yeah, so basically you would get your local channels from an antenna, and then whatever subscription you choose for “cable” gets the rest. But instead of having to switch inputs on the tv, they all come through a single input.
I don’t have AirTV, so can’t speak too much about it. But I have Roku and SlingTV and love it.

Yeah, we have the Roku stick already and love that but I've signed up for free trials of both Vue & DirectTV Now and neither have local channels. I did see when I got on Sling's site that they have a package deal where you can get that AirTV adaptor for $50 (regularly $129) if you subscribe for 3 months. That may be the direction we go. Now, for the internet service??? Spectrum's costs ($160/mo) are ridiculous. I may keep their internet and switch to Sling for TV.

We have been thinking and researching this pretty much since dropping cable. We have decided on DirectNow for $35 since it has Sportstime Ohio and the local channels. Vue does not have STO if you want Tribe games nightly.
Appreciate the input, gentlemen. I'm going to check out the antennas at Best Buy and will also look at AirTV.
I had playstation vue and honestly, it is the best streaming service out there. But i cancelled because they recently dropped my local fox network.
