Figured I'd start a thread to let everyone discuss how their 2024 season is going, share cool courses to hit up, talk about the new gear, etc.
I'll start. I just played Southern Hills and Oak Tree National in back to back weeks. Those 2 courses are on another level of maintenance and hospitality. If you have the opportunity to play either you should definitely do it. I'm 12 rounds in since 3/1 so really getting time in and the scores are trending down (still a 20 handicap after playing about 15 times in 2023 taking like 4 months off).
I also just got a driving iron, it's awesome off the tee but I can't do shit with it off the ground, anyone else play one and have any tips?

That's a dope picture. I tried to post a picture of the clock tower from where my drive (and Mito Pereira's drive) landed on 18 at Southern, but after 16 years I still don't know how to upload images to this website lol.

Doesn’t seem to work. No biggie. You get it. So I did exactly what you said, clicked confirm and nothing happens.

I have a driving iron that works pretty well off the tee, but yeah, it sucks off the turf. I just tee it high and swing for the fences and it usually works out pretty well.

I take it you wanted this thread to just be about golfing as a hobby/recreation activity, not about professional golf? I would also like a thread that is just discussion about playing golf, not watching/betting on pro golf.

If you’re on an iPhone you have to tap the options link at the bottom and select something other than full size before you select your photo to upload. The original photos are so stupidly huge it takes a shit when you upload them.

It will be 42 or 53. There is no in-between.

my last 4 9's (i only play 18 hole rounds but i want to show what i'm capable of, and what i normally do at the end of the card) - these are all on the same course in OKC where i'm a member
42, 54 - 96
59 - 41 - 100
i have only broken 90 on this course 1 time in like 75 rounds, i just cannot put 2 9's together. My main issue that i've noticed recently is, i can either putt okay, or chip okay during a round, i can never do both well.
i mentioned on the travel thread that i got some incredible courses coming up:
Bluejack National 4/24
Whispering Pines 4/25
Ross Bridge 5/7
Oxmoor Valley 5/8
Crescent Pointe7/1
Trying to get on at Harbor Town that week of 7/4 but haven't confirmed that. Will for sure try to get into that pro shop.

Man 41-59 is a huge range
Golf is damage control. It devours the aggressive mentality. Pros can get away with it.
* Be great at putting inside of 4 feet….and on long putts, you have a huge 8 foot circle to get it within. Try not to miss approach shots or even chips where things will be tougher the next shot.
If shooting the occasional 41-43….the high end should resemble 49-52
When I was growing up and beginning to get good I played every hole as a Par 5…every hole.
When shots are going astray…shorten things up.
same thing happened yesterday. 6 pars and shot a 103, on holes where i'm not good, i'm god awful. i'm also a mental case and one bad shot puts horrible swing thoughts through my head for the next few minutes. i'm going to start walking up to shots that i've hit poorly instead of driving the cart to give myself time to clear my head of the bullshit.
