It's the way people say it. It's stupid to emphasize THE so much. Like, if you say Ohio State I am pretty sure everyone in the world knows what you are talking about. You don't need to add THE in such a way that makes it sound like there are multiple options of where you may have gone.

Yup. I never use The. Only Ohio State or OSU.

In a conference with folks from around the country, everyone agreed The is dumb.

Without context, you sound like CC 😂

Yesterday, Ohio State was finally granted the trademark for "THE"

Great to see my alma mater using its resources in pursuit of knowledge and education.  Great job.  Perhaps this effort was handled by the part of the administration that has tripled in size over the past 30 years.

Great victory over other schools such as The University of Michigan, The United States Naval Academy or The Ohio University - all legal names.

Fucking joke.

Always liked the way WOSU-TV ch 34 says it iduring their promos:  "the OHIO State University".  Focusing on "Ohio State", and not the pronoun.

I hope Arch Manning succeeds.  I like his family a lot.  But I get a wary feeling about him getting this level of accolade before he's begun college.  This reminds me of a Ron Powlous type situation.  Basically if this guys doesn't win a Heisman and a NC for Texas, he's like a bust.

I hate that he chose Texas, but that's just because I don't like Texas.  I wish him well though.

I think the pedigree of the family will help. Plus, my God is he good haha

He seems like a hellova player for sure.  You also know the guy’s getting the best guidanceca kid in his situation can get.  But there are only a handful of athletes that live up to this otherworldly billing when they are that young.  I hope he’s one of them because he seems like a good kid.  His family is first class too.

Rutgers at UCLA on Big Noon Kickoff at 9am local.

Cant wait for the basketball tournament to be played in Omaha -- the central location for the B1G.

Won't this and the other moves to different leagues have a negative effect on the "minor" sports due to travel costs?

I can't imagine how.  These schools split up so much money from TV, I would think that'd more than cover it.

It's almost to the point where they need conferences for football only and conferences for everything else. The travel for football isn't as hard because it's only 4 or 5 times a year, and it is rarely in the middle of the week.

I think this makes sense.  Football is operating outside the NCAA anyway.  No reason for the pistol team to be crisscrossing the country.

I guess this is another step down the path that leads to CFB being the NFL’s minor league willing to shed what made it different.

USC and UCLA officially accepted in to Big 10.  Easy set for 8 team divisions:  Purdue to East.  USC AND UCLA to West.  Would have Eastern time zone teams together and then central and pacific time zone schools.

Exactly. Pretty soon it will just be the SEC and Big10 with no other conferences.

It erodes the regional nature of CFB, but it’s just the way things are going.

Who’d have ever thought while watching a Rose Bowl between  Ohio State and USC in the 1980s that they’d one day end up in the same conference.

Would be odd if USC won the conference and had to play Oregon in the Rose Bowl.

There will not be a Pac-12 without USC and UCLA. Arizona and Oregon probably next to go. Colorado and the lesser schools make sense for Big 12 expansion.

This is honestly fine/whatever for football. It really sucks for basketball though.

Exactly. A lot of longstanding rivalries possibly down the toilet.

And the Conference Tournament Week leading into NCAA Tournament. My CBK weeks ranked:

1. 1st Round

2. Conf. Tournament (2 weeks)

3. Regionals

4. Thanksgiving Tournaments

5. Final Four

We are legit losing a lot of the cache of my second favorite stretch of the season. More at larges and less Auto-Bids up for grab just sucks for CBK fans like myself.
