Trump officially running again as of yesterday. Surprised I didn’t see anything on this thread for it.

I actually don’t think anyone here really supports him personally anymore. From most everything I’ve seen elsewhere, people seemed to have moved on from him.
I think it was pretty much certain he would run. I hope he fails because he has no chance of winning the general election again.
I'm voting democrat i guess.
I hope someone competent primaries him but i fear everyone is too afraid of his army of blind followers

I really thought he was just milking his base for more money. I didn't think he'd run again.

Hey, I don't want to vote for him either but look at it this way.....was our quality of life (lower gas prices, lower inflation, lower interest rates, booming housing market, etc) better 2 years ago or today? I'll vote for the lesser evil as the current dip shit in office can't count to potato, let alone solve the messes he's created. And if it continues (Dems, or worse, progressive/socialist Dems) to move forward it will continue to get worse.
I'd prefer Desantis be the candidate but after hearing about it more & more, I think he'd lose.

I think the middle of the road voters that can’t stand Trump would debate voting for Desantis. All the Trumpy backed candidates in the midterms mainly lost, so I think a lot of people have given up on Trump.I'd prefer Desantis be the candidate but after hearing about it more & more, I think he'd lose.

Believe it or not, I believe that Trump relates more to the minority community than Desantis who'd just be looked at as a "conservative white guy." I believe Trump's share of this demographic will grow.

Well, campaign funds can't be used for personal expenses (though MANY politicians manage to pay high consulting fees to completely unqualified friends and family).
But Trump could be facing some legal peril and might be hoping to finally pardon himself!
When have you ever seen someone lose an election, and then continue to hold rallies months/years ahead of the next election cycle? Trump is addicted to those adoring crowds (and so is Don Jr. and Ivanka - creepy seeing them speak at his nomination).
Again, with a crowded field it's hard to see Trump not winning the nomination.

I don't know. Seems like Desantis is doing awfully well with minorities in Florida.
I haven't followed Desantis super closely, but a lot of the country thinks he's a MAGA idiot because they only know him through the lens of CNN/NYT. I think he's going to do very well with moderates once they see him on the campaign trail and in debates.
Will be an interesting couple of years, no doubt about it.
DeSantis will win if he win the primary, imo. But Trump could take that because of so many die-hards and then others split vote. I think Trump would get waxed again, maybe by even more, in 2024.
Speaking of delusion....seems like Pence is planning to run, also.
Will be interesting to see who can raise money with Trump and Desantis, and also assuming Haley and Noem in the field.
Oh, and looks like Pompeo is also going to run. He might do a bit better than Pence, but unless he's bucking for VP, don't know he thinks he has a chance against Trump and Desantis.
Had a good laugh the other day when someone said "remember when Trump was going to self-finance his entire campaign?"
DeSantis is an absolute slam dunk so of course it's going to be Trump.

He comes off as kind of "MAGA-lite". He's also worlds smarter than Trump.

I think that's why he will do well. A lot of Trump's policies continue to be popular, but Desantis can sell those without coming across as a 3rd grade idiot.
He is very smart, but also very fake (like a lot of politicians). I don't know who the real Desantis is, but I'm pretty sure this MAGA-lite version is an act or persona that he saw resonating for a Presidential run.
I wonder how many thousands of [more] times the liberal media is going to say "Desantis is smarter than Trump, and that's what makes him so much more dangerous..."

Probably come down to when/if the lesser names (Pence? Pompeo? Lol!) drop out. Trump will have control of the crazy conspiracy-theory loving goofballs and while I don't think that's enough to win the nomination, if the sane people are split between multiple candidates, that leaves him with a good opportunity for his nut-job base to carry him through.

Pompeo might surprise [very] moderately. But I don't see either Pence or Pompeo moving the needle before they drop out.
But even two strong candidates, like Desantis and possibly Haley, splitting the vote might be enough for Trump to win the nomination.
Noem and Youngkin could also grab enough votes to make Trump inevitable. Past losers like Christy and Cruz just need to stay the hell out. I assume Pence is not running to be VP again, so you wonder why bother? It takes a special kind of narcissistic psychopath to still run when you have absolutely no chance of even being relevant.
I think Trump declared so early hoping to basically freeze out other candidates by siphoning up all the big donors. But apparently the big money is not supporting him.

Trump will for sure win because if Pence gets 5% it'll be 5% from DeSantis, not Trump. if enough dummies run that's what'll happen and Trump wins. The only way someone else beats Trump (and i'm not sure any of the current crop can) is if it's 1 on 1 from the jump.
I stand by what i said. I'll vote democrat if Trump is the nominee. For Fuck's Sake I just had to choose between a socialist and a January 6th Full Q retard for governor and a corpse vs a TV Dr Grift expert for senator in this election. NO MORE LESSER EVIL. If i get shitty options i'll just choose the shittiest. if we have to burn it down i'd rather it burn quickly than using a 10pound fire extinguisher on a 2 alarm fire.
I think a very real possibility is that Trump loses the Primary, but obviously doesn't accept it. Spews hate to the winner (DeSantis) which makes a portion of his base turn on him and abstain, or write-in Trump. Either way, I would project the Democratic nominee to win in a landslide again.

People forget that Rubio, Cruz, and Kasich ate each other for like the first 30 primaries. If 1 or 2 of them would've dropped trump would never had the lead he had going away.

Or he runs as an independent…

If he loses the primary, will he still go with the stolen election theme?

If it's a landslide against him, he wouldn't because he wouldn't have a leg to stand on with that argument. But in the more likely case that it's at least reasonably close, he'll have some conspiracy as to how because he operates on the belief of "ME FAIL SOMETHING? THAT'S UNPOSSIBLE!"
