I saw a still shot on twitter that someone posted for a caption contest, but didn't know the context or see any video. I don't know anything about Gibbons, but Mandel is an absolute moron.

From seeing a commercial or two that Gibbons has put out, he's seems like a QO/CC candidate. In other words, they're word salad where he tries to throw in as many right-wing buzzwords and dog whistles as humanly possible in his 15-30 second spots with no regard as to whether anything resembling a coherent statement is being made.

Being pro-liberty is not the same as anti-American. His stuff on Snowden and abuses of the Patriotic act absolutely was quality journalism. That he doesn't write fluff articles doesn't make him anti-American, just a critic.

Not sure it pays all that well, LOL. There are still a few out there, but you almost have to go independent. The editorial boards at NYT and WaPo kill just about every story that is damaging to the progressive agenda.
Countless examples the past 5-6 years of fake stories getting widespread coverage, and legitimate stories getting killed. The media has become so unreliable how do you even fact-check or determine what should be flagged as fake news? Not nearly enough "journalists" doing their own independent verification

Facts. Unless the story has receipts, I don’t even entertain it. It’s hilarious when for a few days people run with a story that cites “sources” and end up being wrong every time.

I mean, he won awards for the stories I mentioned. I don't agree with all his stuff, but I find his articles to usually be pretty well sourced and to hold up.

It used to be real facts and legit stories were acknowledged by "the other side" even if it took 2-3 days. Anything that you couldn't find conceded in both left and right wing sources was suspect.
But that all changed with Trump. From Russian Collusion to Hunter Biden, the leftwing media has straight up stopped any pretense of objectivity or journalism.
