Div 4 Region 14 2010

5knotsThat is an absolute joke. O-G was a very good football team, but I can assure you no one got handled! If it weren't for the unexpected passing game, O-G struggles. You watch a great game that is decided by a missed extra point and make a comment like that. You must have been wearing purple tinted glasses. We had three linebackers that could have used the O-G game as a high lite reel....in fact one of our junior linebackers practically did and now has 6 DI offers on the table. I wouldn't call that getting handled. You want proof....pull up some Orrville boy's videos on scoutingohio.com and watch for yourself. Game was at Tiffin om turf and since we only played OG and Genoa on turf games are easy to pick out.

bwcomet89Ottawa Glandorf is one of the most fundamentally sound teams up front in division 4, and probably the best in this region. Teams usually do lose the battle up front to them. I have a lot of respect for OG and Coach Shriner and they truly deserved to finally win the region. How are they looking next year?
-
5knotsAgain, I agree with all the kudos to OG. They just didn't handle Orrville....and I would say the same vice/versa...Orrville didn't handle OG. It was a great football game between two very good teams. OG was fortunate to come out on top as would have been the case if Orrville would have won. Here is a link to game stats to prove the point.

Riderwannabeif Hoobler dont get hurt its a different game...period.....and i thought OG was a running team and i dont think that happend well,as i saw it,OG made nice adjustment and passed the ball and had some great plays .OG made plays at the end and it got them to the next round.Hope to see you again.

Classyposter58Who does it look like will be starting backs for Genoa?

I think you would probably know best, just tell us.Classyposter58 wrote: Who does it look like will be starting backs for Genoa?
I've heard:
Transfer from Eastwood
Dufendock (sp?)
Murphy -
RiderfanWith McCune 100%, Clear Fork should make a run at the playoffs.
-
Classyposter58
I thought Dufendock for sure but I really am unsure. Sibby and Pickard also are good backs and I see them getting lots of playing time but I don't know much about Tijerina the transfer from EastwoodGhmothwdwhso wrote:

bwcomet89What about Cuevas? Genoa will likely have 4 backs in the varsity roatation, it will be interesting who will make it. If I had to guess it would be Dufendock, Cuevas, and Sibby, with Pickard switching in.
On the other hand, what they should do is have Cuevas, Tijerina, and Sibby start so it will be a backfield made entirely out of transfers lol. -
Classyposter58
Haha well what the heck why not we've already had 3 1st Team All-Ohio kids that were transfers in the past two seasonsbwcomet89 wrote: On the other hand, what they should do is have Cuevas, Tijerina, and Sibby start so it will be a backfield made entirely out of transfers lol. -

Isn't that Vicars MO. If you can't build them, recruit them. He has never coached a true "Genoa" team. He started with his son's, and the two Lake boys, and the Woodmore kid, in his first three years, why not add to the party.Classyposter58 wrote:

I forgot, he missed out on the Orrville stud linebacker. -
bwcomet89Yeah it was meant to be a joke. As far as the Woodmore transfer goes, he was originally from Genoa's district so there goes that theory, and the last two year's SLL's player of the year came from Genoa, it looks like he can coach a team with purely Genoa talent. You can't put Josh Hillabrand against Vicars as its not like he was a huge impact on the team. He does not recruit. He coaches what he has. Just because he happened to have 2 kids and because your flyers didn't want the Hillabrands, you cannot hold that against him. Maybe next time Abbey shouldn't kick two good players off the team and let them come here.

smanGhmothwdwhso...you said og handled orrville up front???? do you call 90 yards rushing on 40 attempts handing someone??? Thats what og had rushing wise against orrville. it was a good game between 2 very good teams.....og is very sound and does'nt beat themselves with turnovers and penalties. orrville had turnovers and penalties....og played better and won....but they sure as heck did not handle orrville up front...and orrville did'nt handle og up front. It was a great game to watch. og attacked orrville's secondary in 2nd half.....which was a great game plan. they beat orrville with the pass, something that was a thorn for orrville all year.

sman, read before you post. Please. Do you have that much of hard-on for O-G??????????sman wrote: Ghmothwdwhso...you said og handled orrville up front???? do you call 90 yards rushing on 40 attempts handing someone??? I will copy my post into this response to make it easy for you, or you can go look it up.
OK?
Here was my post "Orrville shot their collective wad last year against Genoa. I saw the game against O-G, and physically, O-G handled them. Score was close, but up-front O-G did the job."
Do you have such a hard-on for O-G that you can't read/comprehend an entire post?
Where did I ever say this (as posted by you) "Ghmothwdwhso...you said og handled orrville up front????" -
RedRider1^^sman is an Orrville fan....just giving props to O-G...but I wouldn't call it "handling Orrville" either.
Max Pirman for Orrville had so much success against OG's line that night he's parlayed that 1 game film into about half a dozen (and counting) D1 football offers. If they "handled" Orrville, they certainly did nothing to stop Mr. Pirman.
OG executed better, but it still came down to an extra point. If it was 30-0, then that's being handled. -
TinkertrainSuccess recruits itself see Oak Harbors wrestling program for an example.
If you have a winner they will come lol -

Cool it bro just because we've had some good transfers doesnt mean we aren't a real team. Ha thats only three people football is a game played with 11 guys on the fieldGhmothwdwhso wrote: Isn't that Vicars MO. If you can't build them, recruit them. His 2 boys + 2 Lake boys + 1 Woodmore boy = 5 of 11.Classyposter58 wrote:

No recruiting amongst(sp?) those 5, but hardly a "true" Genoa team.
Ya play with who ya got/get. -
bwcomet89Well in his opinion players like Diekman, Skilliter, Apel, Bialorucki, Bless, Wendt, Schreuder, and Wonnell, all of which are ALL-State players under Vicars had nothing to do with Genoa's success. It was all his son's, the Hillabrands, and Cuevas lol. Without those players, apparently Genoa would have spent the past three years in the basement of the SLL. We might as well ignore all those true "Delta" teams he coached to a couple NWOAL titles and 6 playoff appearances.
-
Classyposter58
Eh the guy prolly has some sour grapes for Genoa. Ha I would too towards a school that has owned the league the last 3 years and won 29 straight regular season games and will in all likelyhood extend that to 39bwcomet89 wrote: Well in his opinion players like Diekman, Skilliter, Apel, Bialorucki, Bless, Wendt, Schreuder, and Wonnell, all of which are ALL-State players under Vicars had nothing to do with Genoa's success. I 2nd this.Tinkertrain wrote: Right now I think Clear Fork would have to be considered the clear favorite in region 14 if Jordan Mccune is healthy. Mccune is a special back and his loss late last season really set back Clear Fork. Outside of Clear Fork i'd imagine it will be a collection of the "usual" suspects in reg 14 ie Ottawa Glandorf, Genoa, Huron, Orrville, Fostoria.
Some Darkhorse contenders to maybe sneak in as an 8 seed would be Wauseon and Port Clinton. Yes you read that right i said Port Clinton. It's a real longshot but if a couple things break right for the redskins on what should be a much improved team they just might sneak in. -
cometallstarI think Genoa may win the region this next season, though OG will be very good.
I think Eastwood may be in the mix for 5th thru 8th. -
bwcomet89Though I hope you are correct in your statement, on what grounds do you foresee Genoa being the favorite in R14 and why will Eastwood make the playoffs?
-
cometallstar
I think that because of the past three years. Genoa will be in the top two if they go 10-0. We have Vicars and Speiss. Eastwood has also made the playoff the past three seasons, Eastwood will always put a good team on the field. I think Eastwood lost a lot of good players but still have athletes.bwcomet89 wrote: Though I hope you are correct in your statement, on what grounds do you foresee Genoa being the favorite in R14 and why will Eastwood make the playoffs? -
bwcomet89Last year Genoa went 10-0, had Vicars and Speiss, and still didn't win it. I think many people from Genoa underestimate just how difficult it is to win the region. With the number of players from last year's team graduating I think it will be harder this year to win it than last year. I am assuming you are on the team and I was hoping you would give more insight than what you did. For what reason should all the other teams fear Genoa this year? Going 10-0 and 2nd seed in the region didn't last year. What do they have this year that will? I hope you're right and on to something here, but other teams can make strong cases too.
As far as Eastwood goes, they Lost to Genoa by 43, to Ottawa Glandorf by I think 48, and backed into the playoffs after losing to Patrick Henry and escaping a very average Lake team from last year. They also only have one legitimate returning player in Pernell Connor. I would not be the least bit suprised if they miss the playoffs next season. The SLL is weak, or at least top heavy, again next year so Eastwood will have plenty of wins, but I'm not so confident they will win any of their big games in Clyde, Genoa, Lake, or Patrick Henry. Unless an Eastwood supporter comes on and tells me something I don't know, I have no reason to believe otherwise.
