Is close to approaching a month since the application process was closed.....I know it was said it was narrowed to 4 is there any new news on whats going on? Havnt seen anything in paper when have gotten online to read it to check for Gibsonburg and St. Joe job....Any word from that way?rocket streak wrote: Alright well the group finally met and have narrowed it down to 4 candidates. From the sound of things they are trying to set up interviews with the 4 asap. In an ideal world they will have all the interviews done by next week at this time but that may be a stretch. At least it is a start though. I know the kids are still working hard and training though as both Knisely and Lento are technically still their coaches and they have the kids on a workout program. -
rocket streakFor St. Joe I know they got done with the first round of interviews last night. Now they are planning on having a second round of interviews for 3 of the candidates I guess. I am guessing those wont be till early next week at the earliest. It is frustrating they have taken so long but hopefully they can name a coach by a week from today.
As far as Gibsonburg, I know they were having second interviews last week but i dont know where they are in their process now. -

Crimson_StreakCongrats to coach knisley (butters) on the coaching job he will do a great job keeping sjccs success going
-
TeamsterNice article...Kept it within the system I see, any coaches staying or is the new coach bringing any back....Sounds like enthusiasim hasnt left....Good luck all and the new coach...
-
rocket streakFrom what I hear Roth went with Drusback to Rossford and Gabel is staying on staff, Lento has not decided if he wants to stay on staff or not, and Yeckley has decided not to coach this year.
-
cometallstarDidn't lose anything with Yeckley not coming back.
-
Crimson_StreakThe key to sjcc's season will be if lento comes back. He did a lot for the offense last year
-
rocket streakWell unfortunately Lento has decided not to come back and instead is going to Ross. Its a shame he decided to leave but thats his decision.
-
Crimson_Streakit doesnt surprise me considering him and knisely didnt get along very well
-
TeamsterFrom what I am reading Lento was just a first year coach, how much of an impact could he have made. Also if I am reading right it appears only one coach remains on staff from last year...Gabel...Has Coach Knisley put anyone esle together to put on another successful year for the Fremont Streaks, if I remember they had a boat load of successful juniors they should be alright, tough team last year..
-
rocket streakTeamster- you are correct. This past year was Lento's first year coaching. I think Lento was a good coach but I think it is pretty silly to think that he had that much of an impact on the team last year. The jump in wins should be put all on the players. maturing and just being in the system another year. Plus Lento wasn't calling plays on either side of the ball so while he may have had some impact it probably is greatly exagerated by some.
You are also correct in that Gabel is the only remaining staff member besides Knisely. Knisely has brought former Calvert player Eric Baugher onto the staff as well as former SJCC WR Brett Wilhelm, among others. They do have a very talented junior soon to be senior class that will be the core of the football team next year. Although i heard a rumor that one of the key members will not be back because of relocating but I wont say anymore as it could be all rumor. -
TeamsterBaugher was a pretty good athlete at Calvert back in the early 2000's correct and if I remember right they were pretty good those years, could be a good pick up and makes sense if he didnt get ask to come back with the new Calvert coach whom ever they choose. As a read a previous post Lento was going to Ross, Division 1 pretty big jump perhaps they see something in him. I am sure the staff will have the crimson streaks ready to go, only 5 short months till 2 adays and games start love friday night lights in ohio....rocket streak sounds like some big news could be on the horizon with a player relocatiing although we wont pressure please keep us updated if any new breaks hope all well in streak country
