Fostoria's coach did the same thing last year.bigkahuna wrote: http://www.the-daily-record.com/news/article/4709667
Possible bulletin board material for Genoa???
IMO Bad move on Orrville's Coach's part. You say that kind of thing "They havent played anybody" "They havent seen what we've got..." to your team behind closed doors; not to the paper
Awesome!
....and in my opinion, yes I am saying OPINION...
Hines Ward is not dirty. He just likes to hit.
Just because he broke a guys face with a legal hit doesn't mean he's dirty.
Disclaimer: No Genoa player has ever broken, or come close to breaking any opposing players face. I am not in favor of physically harming anyone. Getting into their heads with aggressive play....welll...that's all good. -
TinkertrainYes Duffendock did pick up a personnel foul on a play that most likely would have gotten him ejected in the regular season. It was dirty and could have seriously hurt the edison player on the recieving end of his blatently late hit. I lost alot of respect for coach vicar's due to the fact that he didnt put duffendock on the bench after that play. Alot of talk in Genoa about life lesson's and teaching them to be better men and not a whole lot of follow up on that come game time.
Genoa as a group play's on the edge as I like to say. They play emotional football and when you play emotional football you always run the risk of loosing control. If Orrville can get under Genoa's skin and get the comet's backs up against the wall. There is a strong possibility that they will start to make mistake's but thats just my 2 cents.
Now as for the Orrville coach...... what a moron! I mean just because your telling the truth doesnt mean that you should broadcast it like that! -
bwcomet89Dufendocks late hit was a result from the player that had recently stepped on his, well lets say man parts. Do I think he should have done that? No, but I do realize the connection. Now I'm no psychologist, but wouldn't a person from a team that just got their butt kicked by Genoa think that the Comet players were a little "over-aggressive" for hitting to the whistle? Especially in a blowout?
As for Orrville's coach, it looks like he will get to try to back up his words tomorrow night. If not he will look just like Fostoria's coach. His quotes made Genoa's highlight video last year, nice touch. -
LetsGoCometsDoes anyone know of a good place to eat in Ashland?
-
wolverine2000Genoa was definitely the hardest hitting and most aggressive team that I've seen this year. As far as over-aggressive...maybe, but not all the time. I remember a few plays where I was left thinking that some of their hits were timed so that they were happening right after the ball carrier hit the ground. No flags were thrown on them because they weren't obviously late, but I know I was questioning the timing on a few of them (and this is referring to a regular season game, not last week).

GCTD64Less that 24 hours til game time! Cant wait to get to the tailgate tomorrow! Should be there around 3 so gonna be a little late... I am ready for some Ohio State Playoff football at its finest!!! LETS GO COMETS!!!
-
vicars4prezDid Orrvilles coach not learn from last year u dont call out the Genoa D because they will bring stuff u have never seen b4 u could have tapes of every game it wouldnt matter this team is fast and will hit right in the mouth
-
Classyposter58Well here's what I think about todays game. Today both teams will play there best opponent of the year and both teams will fly around to the football and hit well but here's my honest prediction, Genoa by 21. Orrville is good and we all know that but I think Genoa and Mooney would be a great battle that is how good this Comets team is. Orrville needs to have Chase Hoobler to have a monster game because that is the only the defense that they run will be able to stop the Comets offense because I've seen teams that run the 3-3-5 against power football many times and it struggles mightily against it and Genoa runs the Wing T better than anyone in the state. Orrville I think if they are to have a shot at winning needs to beat them through the air because Genoa's pass D worries me. If Beasacon can get some time in the pocket the Comet D is going to have problems but if Orrville's O-Line gets worn down early it's going to be a long game. Expect a packed house and I don't know about anyone else but I'm really pumped up for this one. Wooo! GO COMETS!!!!
-
TinkertrainI wouldnt expect Orrville to run a 3-3-5 for most of the game. All indications are that they will mix and match the defensive alignment's to suit the opponent.

Wow....that's a little overconfident I think.Classyposter58 wrote: I think Genoa and Mooney would be a great battle that is how good this Comets team is.
And if you think Hoobler is all our defense has, you'll be surprised.
Can't wait to see Hillabrand and Hoobler collide. I'm sure each will have their victories....but in the end, it will be which team makes the most big plays and least mistakes. If Genoa pins their ears back and blitzes, they might get burned by our outside speed...we've got a solid core of WR's...both playmakers and possession guys. if we can't run it, we're fine passing it.
But if we're lucky enough to have a lead in the 2nd half, expect us to grind it out.
Can't wait. -
Oldplayer22Got to take Orrville in this one, they've played a tough schedule and came out on top..Who has Genoa played ...NOBODY ! This team hasn't been tested by anyone other than some DV schools. Orrville 28 Genoa 14

I would take a personal foul too if someone was trying to PRY MY EYES OUT! This team is extremely well coached and is NOT a dirty team. I have seen each and every game this year and can prove that. GO COMETS!!!RedRider1 wrote:
Game films I've watched, people I've talked to and totally neutral parties....all say the Comets can be a little over-aggressive at times. On what grounds will they not handle it well? You make it sound like Genoa gets dirty in close games? I would like to hear your reasoning.
Didn't Dufendock get a penalty last week that might have gotten him ejected if it wasn't the playoffs?
And I dont think it takes a close game for them to get dirty...sounds like they had some issues with controlling their emotions during 50 point blowouts.
A 15 yd penalty is no big deal if you're up by a ton...but in a close game, could mean the difference between winning and losing. -

Why does everyone over there bring up the "weak" schedule talk? They have blown out 2 playoff teams, and Eastwood just took out the #1 team in the region. We will see what happens tonight @ Ashland. Schedules don't matter now. Be careful what you say and wish for, it just might come back to haunt you!
