Congrats to BR. But you almost gave the game away. Hope you get the kinks ironed out, b/c the games just get harder from here on out.

Grats Big Red, I won't say I'm not bummed.

Yes, there was questionable officiating, but that doesn't change the fact that we fell apart in the second quarter.

    Good luck against Dover.

I don't think anyone said Big red can't be beaten!?!?!?!? They went 9-1

I don't think Salem fell apart as much as they were manhandled by a faster, stronger Steubenville team.....couldn't handle Steubenville's blitz.

big Red's D came out strong from the word "go" IMO. The offense has not been the same old Big Red O all year. They're better off pounding the ball then they are throwing.....

They simply don't have the recievers that they did last year.....but they have some powerful backs and the line to open holes for them......pound the ball and control the clock Big Red.

As for the pass interference, if you are not going to flag 'em when two Salem DB's knock the BR rec. to the ground in the end zone while the ball is in the air.....then keep the flag in your pocket. That the was the most unquestionable PI foul of the night yet no flag????? What are these officials looking at???? that was OB-VI-OUS!!!!!!

I give Salem credit for coming out fighting like they did. it was obivious that Big red was the better team by a lot, but Salem was able to capitalize on some Big red mistakes and hang in there for a while and they should be commended on a great season.

Back to Big Red, this is the most undisiplined Red team I have seen in a while. If they dont cut down on their mistakes, they are gonna run into a team that aint gonna let them come back like they did last night. I know that they will more than likely fix this in the coming week, but this isnt the first time that I have noticed a lot of uncharacteristic penalties and turnovers for Big Red this season. Also game was won beacuse of big plays by Macon in the running game, but will he be able to develop some air game in the coming week as well.

They have had these problems all year long, if it does not catch up to them next week it will the week after that.

    My post game thoughts:
    1. worst first half ever played by a BR playoff team.
    2. Very proud of Dwight for taking over the 2nd half...big throws...big runs
    3. Officiating was a joke - 5 pass interference plus others
    4. Dover will soon find out - WE ARE BIG RED - we own this region until further notice

Congratulations to Salem - toothman and eisel are both great players. Hope to play again next year.
    safe travels

Sorry I missed you; had left early and didn't see your post to know where you were anyhow. I was glad to see Salem hang in there; I was tired of hearing all week from some posters on the 'old huddle' about seeing JV's in the second quarter. I liked the 3 and out on Red's first possession of the second half; I thought that would really help our chances. But the game turned on 3 big plays later: Macon's big run; the fumble that wasn't; and the converted 3rd and long, again by Macon - that kid can sure run the ball.

Anyhow, we have a lot to look forward to with such a young team; I think we started 5 or 6 soph's and we have a lot of juniors returning as well. We have a good chance of getting back to the playoffs and hopefully advancing further. It was an incredible season going from 0-10 last year to Week 12 this year; congratulations Quakers!!

And .... I think Big Red will whip Dover.

They need to make the powerful O-line and running backs (including Macon) the focus of the Offense and let the pass develop off what they accomplish w/ their running game......

Ride the run through the next three.....

4 of the PI calls were good calls!
The only one you guys got hosed on was the PI call on Salem's lone TD drive.

Best of luck to both teams this week, play hard and injury free.

I think your coach should be coach of the year in DIII. That turn-around is amazing. I was just happy Eisel didn't run one back...had a bad feeling about that after watching those highlights. Quite an athlete...along with your QB.

Hope to play you again next year....maybe twice :P
