Region 22 Carey vs. Ada @ Findlay 1 p.m.

Dennis is 6'7" 270 lbs and going to MSU isn't he? I would hope you could get 4 yards and a cloud of dust running directly behind him! Ada having 9 to 10 guys in the box is less their problem to worry about and more Carey's problem. If you can't make teams pay by throwing the ball when that happens you can only blame the type of offense you run. Not Ada for doing what any other team should do as well.devil1197 wrote: Ada was not as physical as Carey. If they were they wouldn't have given up all those rushing yards with 10 guys in the box, 5 man front and a LB right up in the center's face. I am sorry but come on. They knew Carey was taking Norden right behind Dennis but Carey continued to drive the ball running the same exact play. Did it get stopped sometimes, yes but the majority of time Carey ran well. -

Yeah, I noticed it, I'm pretty sure his lungs were bothering him pretty bad at the end there. . . .the_system wrote: Just saying some type of physical ailment was bothering Jackson. Anyone at the game should have noticed that. -
adogwas told that Jackson was ill early in week and was still pretty weak from it...It looked like it on the 2 punt returns of his...both of those when healthy are TD's

Hey, since we are playing the "if" game, IF he had returned them for TDs Carey would have definately returned the ensuing kickoffs for 6 too, both of them. They would have surely been negated IF only he wasn't sick. . .adog wrote: was told that Jackson was ill early in week and was still pretty weak from it...It looked like it on the 2 punt returns of his...both of those when healthy are TD's -

devil..please not making light of anything...playing if game or whatever...If you would have watched Jackson during the season you too would have realized Heath was not himself today.. Truthfully, I am grateful as hell to get out of Findlay with a Wgrievik wrote:

Blue_Devil_2From where I sat...Carey's defense held a potent Ada offense to 14 points first half and shut them down in the second half points-wise..even with all those "quick snaps" and Mr. Jackson..who is very good but not great. Carey's offense was hurt by the fumble on the 16 and all the penalties that stopped drives..and the refs are always right, aren't they? Everybody in the house thought Norden was in the endzone on 3 and goal...so realistically the score could easily have been 14-14 and should have been 14-7 at the half....wouldn't OT have been fun?
Ada has a nice team, and I wish them good luck next week...
Very proud of Carey's team effort this year, another fun year!

Auglaize99Hurray for freehuddle.
First a general question- do these threads always have to turn into-
We lost the game, but we are better because....blah...blah...blah
Specific observations:
Carey was obviously more successful in shutting down the Ada offense than any team that they have faced this year.
Ada's defense did a nice job for most of the game and Carey made some extremely costly mistakes.
Jackson's decision making as a passer and his passing accuracy was well below what I've seen in previous games. Carey's pressure can be given most or all of the credit for that. He didn't have the type of time that he often did against other opponents. -
BigDogThis was a great game by two great teams.
Don't let your comments take anything away from either team.
Both Defenses did a spectacular job.
And as for the Goal Line stance at the end of the first half, I don't care what it looked like from the stands or the pressbox 70 yards away at an angle at best, I've seen the replay on the TV about 5-6 times and the runner was stopped short of the endzone.
I have not seen the final stats on this game but on paper you would have to swear Carey won this game by 40 points.
Fact of the matter is - it doesn't matter how you look at it, what the stats say..........all that matters is what it says on the scoreboard at the end of the game. -

From what I remember from officiating at Donnell Stadium the press box somewhere between to forty yard lines.devil1197 wrote:Also, all the radio stations and the guys in the box agreed that Norden was clearly in on the 3rd and 2 at the end of the 1st half.
There are two officials positioned on the goal line looking down the line.
So the people in the press box have better view than the officials on the field? -

Also, if officials always have the clear view on the endzones why do we constantly need reviews to overturn rulings at the goal line? -

Because sometimes humans make errors which can be corrected with instant reply. Not because someone in the press box has a better view. From the 50 yard line it is hard to tell a 2 yard loss from a 2 yard gain at the goal line.devil1197 wrote:

Hey skippy; there are no replays in high school football!!!!!!!! Just a little tip????? Yea; the officiating was bad again, Carey just blew there chances to win again. Just another season of woulda, coulda, shoulda!! Lets' face it; until that offensive scheme changes, Carey fans are relegated to the fact that this type of short playoff run is going to have to be good enough until all the other teams in the playoffs cannot stop the run??????????? NOT? See ya next year so we can debate this fact all over again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!devil1197 wrote:

I agree with this 100%. The last 2 years watching Carey in the playoffs, this has been a discussion in the stands. The offense works great running through the MAL, but when you play a team as or more physical than you, or a well coached team that can stop it, you are dead in your tracks.ataway wrote: Lets' face it; until that offensive scheme changes, Carey fans are relegated to the fact that this type of short playoff run is going to have to be good enough until all the other teams in the playoffs cannot stop the run? -
girevikSay, how did the spread work for Riverdale this year? Why is it that you were able to make it out to watch Carey in the playoffs both this year AND last year? Not trying to say anything, love, just sayin. . . .
-
Blue_Devil_2Carey's offensive scheme had nothing to do with losing this game. This discussion is so predictable and dead-horse. Mistakes (penalties, turnovers) are the reasons Carey lost. Also, let's give credit to Ada's defense.
I had thought when Delphos St. John's took Hopewell Loudon out in the State Finals last year with a running attack, it might open some eyes...guess not

Let me ask you this question. Did Carey's lack of a passing game lose them both the DSJ and Ada games? Because last time I checked neither of these teams stopped Carey dead in their tracks nor even came close to it.
Carey has lost the last two playoff games by committing turnovers, not their offensive scheme.
If you want to argue this point I'll glady be waiting for you and ataway to come up with even a remotely close argument. Please, I beg you to come up with some evidence that Carey's offensive schemes cost them the games.
I'll start it off, in both playoff games, Carey outgained DSJ and Ada (supposedly one of the most potent D6 offenses). In both games Carey had great success on the ground. And in both games Carey made untimely and costly turnovers that resulted in 28 of the 35 points scored against Carey during those two games. Not only did Care run effectively on Ada, but they did it with 10 guys in the box. If Carey doesn't commit the turnovers they win just like last year. No excuses at all because great teams cannot commit turnovers and expect to win.
And I won't even get into the penalties that stalled two good looking drives in the game. -

Guess what skippy, I know there isn't replay in HS, someone made a point that the officials are usually correct and I simply pointed out the number of over turned plays at the college and NFL level.ataway wrote:

No, I think that the point was that officials standing on the goal line have a better view then those sitting in the press box.devil1197 wrote:

devil1197If officials have a great view of the goal line, why do we need replay. And why do countless calls every weekend in College and NFL get over turned?
That was my exact reasoning for making that comment. Do I think the officials got the call wrong, maybe and so do a host of other people including some Ada fans. But sometimes the calls go the other way and Carey was still in the game after that play.
I give Ada credit do not get me wrong. They capitalized on two Carey turnovers and turned them into 14 points and had a bend but not break defense. Carey had a great game plan offensively and defensively which were executed outside of the turnovers.
