Region 22 Carey vs. Ada @ Findlay 1 p.m.

devil1197Carey is going to have to make some adjustments on the defensive end, we haven't faced an offense like Ada's.
Look for Carey to add another DB on the field for better coverage and team speed.
Carey isn't the biggest defense outside of their defensive line but everyone is underestimating their defensive athleticism and speed. I believe many will be surprised on Saturday. -
atawayWho might the DB B?????? Niederkohr?????

devil1197
The secondary would consist of Phoenix, Strahm, Jacoby, Vaughn, and Massie. Instead of rotating the two S's, put both of them on the field.ataway wrote: Who might the DB B?????? Niederkohr????? -
bleedblue13My first post on the huddle!! Thanks!!
The defense is very good and I think they can slow Ada. I think it will come down to what Carey offense shows up. One thing I would do for sure is run Norden 30 times! This keeps the ball out of Ada's hands and will open up some outside runs with Pheonix and Jacoby. I look for a hard fought game and believe that Carey wins in a close one. -
the_systemAs much as football is a team sport, games are usually determined by individual matchups. How do the teams stack up? OL vs. DL, WR vs. DB, RB vs. LB?
Ada has a little bit of size up front but I would say their defense is built for blitzing and speed so Carey might have more luck between the tackles than outside the tackles. A lot of people say Ada's defense is garbage but they are only giving up 15 points a game. They give up some yardage but have done well to keep the points down. When they play primarily running teams it only takes one run blitz and a stop in the backfield every drive to put the running team in a 2nd and long or 3rd and long and force them out of their gameplan. They are definitely more of a one big defensive stop type of d instead of a consistently stuff the run at the line type of d. If Carey can keep grinding they should win.
Ada's offense hasn't scored less than 31 this year and that was against a very good LCC defense. Carey will probably match up speed-wise with Ada's receivers but Ada does have a height and size advantage out there - giving them the potential to come up with big catches over the DBs. Then there is always the Jackson thing. I've seen teams try to drop 8 even 9 guys. I've seen them try to blitz him. None of them really worked.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a 21 point win either way. The teams are so different that you have to think one is going to be very successful in what they do while the other struggles. -
devil1197Didn't Ada only score 24 on LCC's defense?
Don't let the height and size advantage fool you though the_system. Carey's secondary is extremely physical and they are some of the better pure tacklers on the team.
This game is a toss up and I have no clue how it was turn out. -
EYEBUCK10Carey has the athletes to hold jackson to maybe two tds haha... but their offense better come out ready to play cuz everyone knows ada will get their points
-
atawayThe System; I have to agree with you that the different styles will make one team shine more than the other. I think if it is Ada the point difference will get ugly. If it's Carey; I feel 14 will be pulling away for them! Adas' defense cannot be that bad if they have made it this far???? If Carey would happen to win by 21 or more that will come as a total shocker to me?? GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blue_Devil_2The triple option is not the typical running game these days...has Ada had to defend a true option team this year? How well will Ada be able to simulate the wishbone in practice? How deep are the Bulldogs at key positions? What's the kicking game like? Just some thoughts...
-
devil1197Well its gameday for the two teams.
This season for Carey has truly been a surprise. I knew the defense would be good but as a team they have surpassed my predictions for the year. The team has continued to improve throughout the year and have dealt with injuries, suspensions, and player movements. Now, the season is not over and there is still room for improvement.
The guys need to come out with intensity from the start of the game. Blocking will be the key for Carey and I know the guys have what it takes to get it done.
Play hard, clean, and leave nothing behind. -
WebFireI'll be in attendance today. I expect a hard fought contest, and hopefully a close one! I think the contrasting offenses will make for an entertaining game.
-
killdeer^^^agree...Carey needs to be thinking time of possession and ball-control....Let Ada have as little time to unleash the offense as possible...A low scoring contest will favor the Blue Devils...however, I see it as an Ada victory. Should be an excellent game and congrats to both sides.

the_system14-7 Ada wins.
A great defensive battle as Ada came to play on the defensive end. Carey's D did a great job containing Jackson after the first half. Big hits by both teams.
Ada led 14-0 with about 3-4 minutes left in the game and, honestly it looked like it was over as Carey was only able to pick up small, slow chunks of yardage most of the day. Then they line up in the shotgun with 4WR split to one side and threw a screen that turned into a 70 yard TD after a couple of slipped tackles. After getting Ada to punt with 2 minutes left, Carey's drive was stopped on a double pass that was intercepted by Jackson. By the way - was Jackson ok? He looked to be bothered by some sort of injury or illness for most of the game and checked himself out of the game quite a few times. -
devil1197Jackson came up hurt after a hit by one of Carey's LB's in the 1st half and he didn't seem to shake it off too well.
Congrats to Ada as they made some plays but overall Carey beat themselves imo. Carey was able to drive up and down the field on Ada, but their turnovers killed them. Great teams cannot make mistakes like that and expect to win.
DSJ's offense will run all over Ada next week. Ada had 10 guys stacked in the box and Norden continued to run right behind Dennis and gain yards. DSJ will be just as physical as Carey but with a better passing game.
Also, all the radio stations and the guys in the box agreed that Norden was clearly in on the 3rd and 2 at the end of the 1st half. Too bad the Ada sideline ref didn't give Carey a call all game. In the end, Carey made the same mistakes last year against DSJ that cost them the game. I truly believe they were the better overall team but you cannot give teams short field after turnovers and expect to win. -
devil1197And I am not making excuses for people who may take it that way, just my observation of the game.
Ada made the plays early on but Carey just had too many mistakes in crucial situations and some calls that could have went the other way.
Ada will need to shore up their rush defense because they won't be able to put 10 in the box against DSJ. -
the_systemI figured it would turn into a - we beat ourselves - instead of - they were more physical than we thought. On two of those fumbles the Ada defender just physically ripped the ball out of the runner's hands. They also did a nice job of shooting the gaps and making a stop in the backfield that essentially will kill any drive of a team that isn't known to throw the ball. You put a running team in a 2nd or 3rd and long and they are out of their game instantly.
The option is a tricky offense. I saw a lot less physical domination as you and a lot more missed assignments or just not knowing who had the ball. Carey runs the option very well.
Ada's offense just didn't look the same today. I'm not sure if it was heath being hampered with something or what. -
devil1197The first one the forward progress was clearly stopped for more than 3 seconds but your sideline official didn't blow it dead (not just my opinion but everyone in the pressbox once again just like the missed TD call). Ada was a physical team but nothing that I thought was great. The strip on Brodman was a great heads up play imo. Ada stacked 10 in the box and Carey continually picked up first downs but their mistakes killed them. DSJ doesn't make those type of mistakes imo.
Ada's offense faced a defensive gameplan that had guys coming from all angles of the field which I think disrupted Jackson. He was able to slip out of some but Carey had him scrambling for most of the game and was able to put some good hits on him. -
the_systemCarey's defense was definitely solid. However, if not for the gimmick pass play with 3 minutes left in the game, Carey gets shut out by a defense that Carey fans have been foaming at the mouth to play against all week.
-
devil1197Gimmick pass play? Do you call Ada's screen passes gimmick's when you have the trip set? If so Ada runs alot of gimmick plays.
Just because Carey doesn't pass 75% of the time doesn't make a simple bunch screen a gimmick play.
Its not going to change any opinion. Carey physically dominated Ada for the majority of the game on both sides of the ball but that doesn't always equal a win. Ada made the big play to start the game and converted on some big plays on their 2nd TD score.
I have watched both DSJ and Ada, the Blue Jays will win by 14+. -
the_systemThere were 4 wide bunched or stacked. Probably less gimmick and more once in a hundred of being successful I guess.
-
the_system
Very likely. But if Ada gets beat by 14+ Carey would get beat even worse because I watched an Ada team today that was just as physical as Carey.devil1197 wrote:

devil1197
Exactly, I don't consider that a gimmick play at all. Ada runs the trip screen that is similar. Strahm just made a guy miss and had a good block down field.the_system wrote: There were 4 wide bunched or stacked. Probably less gimmick and more once in a hundred of being successful I guess.
For Ada to win next week they need to just drop Jackson back imo. Don't roll him out all the time. He looked good with a the 3 step drop and hitting #5 over the middle. Yes, rolling him out will create running room but more 3 step drops would let him see the entire field for passing. -

That's funny right thar. In the first part you say Ada's defense stuffed the Carey offense, it had NOTHING to do with bad play, it had EVERYTHING to do with Ada's D. In the 2nd part you say Ada's offense didn't get shut down, they just weren't themselves, it had EVERYTHING to do with bad play and NOTHING to do with the Carey D.:dodgy:the_system wrote: I figured it would turn into a - we beat ourselves - instead of - they were more physical than we thought.

devil1197Ada was not as physical as Carey. If they were they wouldn't have given up all those rushing yards with 10 guys in the box, 5 man front and a LB right up in the center's face. I am sorry but come on. They knew Carey was taking Norden right behind Dennis but Carey continued to drive the ball running the same exact play. Did it get stopped sometimes, yes but the majority of time Carey ran well.

Cool - so you will notice my first post saying "Carey's D did a great job containing Jackson after the first half."
Carey's defense was outstanding. They looked off early trying to figure Jackson's speed out but they adjusted. Managed to spy Jackson better than anyone this year and still had great coverage down field. Just saying some type of physical ailment was bothering Jackson. Anyone at the game should have noticed that.
