Orrville (1-0) vs. Triway (0-1)

Great post. I totally agree-if Orrville ever gets down by 2 or more scores in a game in its over. They have no big threat down the field. I think Coach Davault had the perfect gameplan and I would like to see a time of possession stat because we kept their offense off the field and that was great. The boys need to keep this energy level all year as RR1 said every game from here on Out will get tougher. NW blew a big lead last nite and will not be happy when they get to Orrville next week so no time for a lack luster game. Again great job coaches, players, and fans great turn out. On the flip side that Carmichael boy is just a gamer! He tried to win the game by himself and almost did. If that onside kick goes their way they win. Good game!Red Rider;1496652 wrote:Great, great win. Still need to be very concerned about depth. One play in particular was very nearly disaster. Ritchie was starting to cramp up on D but either no one saw it or they just hoped they wouldn't take advantage of it. Well, the next play they went deep at him and it paid off. Nothing he could do, he was on the field all night and finally his leg gave out. Gotta find a way to give some players rest. As we know it doesn't get easier. Domer didn't get a lot of use...why can't he give some DBs a rest.
Would have loved to see Trevor lead blocking in the backfield when we had 4 chances at the end zone inside the 5 and couldn't punch in.
Luke had no time at all to throw the ball. It gets snapped and 1-2 guys were on him seemingly untouched. We gotta do better in that area. We HAVE to be able to pass the ball if we hope to win 2-3 more games.
BUT, the team really looked great in the first quarter. It could have been a blowout had we been able to sustain that energy. If we had maybe 5 more average varsity players we would be set. I know we have 5 kids walking the halls at OHS that could have helped this team and played a lot. What a difference they would make. Frustrating. -
Red RiderRR1 I am not so sure they were, protecting Domer. If he plays a ton this morning than I will know the reason...and I don't think the JV game should ever be a factor in how much a kid plays Friday night.

That's what I was told..that they valued him more on defense and didn't want to risk him getting that shoulder hurt running the ball. With Owens & Zook running well, save him for later on if one of them gets dinged.
I don't think he should be playing JV at all and I've never known a coach to not play a kid on varsity to save him for JV.
Is this going to be the next conspiracy?? -

Red Rider, Domer will be more involved as the season goes on, doctor put some restrictions on him, he is a tuff kid so it won't be long, we need him back healthy, no conspiracy.Red Rider;1496695 wrote:RR1 I am not so sure they were, protecting Domer. RedRider1Drove by the stadium twice this morning while running errands...we were on offense both times. The Swanson kid & the Hershberger kid were the tailbacks...not Domer. In fact, didn't see him on the field.
Hope that helps. -

Nice post and good luck to Triway the rest of the season, We would appreciate more computer points then we gave you last year.thePITman;1496597 wrote:Let me be the first Triway fan to congratulate Orrville on a big win. They executed their game plan to perfection on offense AND defense. Offense kept churning the ball on the ground owning time of possession with 1-2 punch of Owens and Zook. Defensively the Riders' coverage made it hard for Carmichael to find targets in the 2nd half resulting in wild, rushed throws after hanging in the pocket too long. Riders wanted it more and earned the victory. Now Triway must get ready for 2-0 Waynedale. Good luck to Orrville the rest of the way. You have a nice team that I think knows what it means to play Orrville football. -

Exactly. He'll get all the opportunity in the world. Heard that coaches said he's got some of the quickest feet they've seen on a 9th grader. Lots of potential there. -
Red RiderDomer did not dress JV. Hopefully he heals quick and can be more involved soon.

I thought Domer was involved. He played both sides of the ball....as a freshman! Are you wanting him to get more carries on offense? More snaps on D? If I were a freshman again and I got to play under the Friday lights as much as he did I would have been very happy. I am sure the parents were proud? He was playing 8th grade football just one year ago!Red Rider;1496784 wrote:Domer did not dress JV. Hopefully he heals quick and can be more involved soon. -

Not only that but on the Int he is the one that hit the QB to force the ball to be off target. From what I saw he was involved. I hope the shoulder heals up and he can get back to feeling good.Old Rider;1497742 wrote:I thought Domer was involved. He played both sides of the ball....as a freshman!
