Orrville (1-0) vs. Triway (0-1)
-
rrfanWho wants to talk about this game? Triway will be opening the new turf with Orrville coming to visit. Nothing could be better than to spoil that for them as they did to Orrville last year. Triway lost to WH last week but had many turnovers and still put up points. This is a big game for both teams.

Old RiderShould be a great crowd! The weather is expected to cool down so hopefully that will minimize the players cramping up. It will be important for our offense to control the clock and keep their offense off the field as much as possible. I would EXPECT us to keep the ball on the ground and sprinkle in a pass here and there, but with West Holmes putting up 500+ yards on the ground...lets RUN RUN RUN RUN!!
-
rrfanOld Rider- I think that will probably be the plan. The only thing that scares me is I believe WH is really good. We don't have that kind of running game IMO. Riders better put on their big boy pants on this Friday. It does not get any better than this for a week two game. Lets go Riders!
-
Old RiderWe also have to control the line of scrimmage (both sides) and I think if we can do that we should be ok. Get pressure on Carmichael and force him to get happy feet. I know he doesn't like to get hit!
-
rrfanOld rider are we the only ones that care about this game? I thought this place would be real busy this week...I would love to see Zook and Summers get some big hit on the QB early and see what happens.

thePITmanShould be a very good game! Orrville coming off a big win over a weak opponent. Triway coming off a deceiving 19-point loss to a very good opponent. Still lots of unknowns about both teams. This week will tell us a lot about both, IMO.
That may have used to have been the perception of Parker, that he didn't like to get hit. But I believe that has changed. The kid may still be skinny as a rail, but he's much stronger and tougher than when he got plastered as a freshman 2 years ago. He was protected pretty well last week against WH, who threw the book at Triway's O-line. He only got sacked once, and that was late in the game when we were just trying to make something big happen, and their defense knew we had to.Old Rider;1494829 wrote:We also have to control the line of scrimmage (both sides) and I think if we can do that we should be ok. Another reason that he doesn't get sacked much is the style of offense that they run. He doens't need much time and many of the passes are quick routes and he has a very quick release. Should be a great game!thePITman;1494904 wrote:Should be a very good game! Orrville coming off a big win over a weak opponent. Triway coming off a deceiving 19-point loss to a very good opponent. Very true that the style of offense may help keep him off his back. Even so, WH was trying to get to him and I think had 1 sack and maybe only 1 knock down (a hard hit after which Parker got right up). I am sure every defense will continue to try to get after him in different ways, so hopefully he, our coaches, and our offense are able to adjust.Old Rider;1494912 wrote:Another reason that he doesn't get sacked much is the style of offense that they run. jaco"Deceiving 19 point loss"???! Wha??!?
That was a throttling. 520 rushing yards surrendered by Triway. Wow. Let me repeat: 5 - 2 - 0. -

7 of Triway's points were on a kick return...maybe that's what Pit meant by deceiving.
Purple camo pants & 'Beat Orrville' shirts are being washed all over Titan country. It's the Triway Super Bowl. A win over smug Orrville just makes their season.
Should be a packed house to break in the new 'Artificial Pit.'
Fun facts: Triway has never beaten Orrville 2 years in a row. And in the year after a Triway win, Orrville has won by an average of 33 points. Neither means much for Friday night, just interesting is all. -
rrfanThe thing that scares me about Triway is they put up 28 point and QB had 4 picks...I have not seen WH yet but they are supposed to be good. I understand Triway gave up a ton of yards on the ground, but we do not have that type of running backs or the hogs that WH is supposed to have. That is an out of wack stat.
-
jacoTriway has the spread disease..can score in bunches but utterly defenseless against the run. Probably because their defense practices against the spread all week long. I'm pretty sure West Holmes had four new starters on their O Line. Orrville will struggle to win this game if the game plan is to beat Triway at their own game.

I don't think WH is as good as last year..but I'm sure they're plenty good.
I think we have a few kids who can run the ball. Again, maybe not to WH caliber but we'll be ok. -

I don't believe the game plan is to try to win the game throwing the ball.
I could see Triway loading the box to stop our run, and forcing us to beat them with the throw.
We'll have to pass effectively to keep them honest. -
thePITman
West Holmes attempted 3 passes. Completed 1. Went for a 53-yard TD. Triway's weaknesses were exposed last week. Orrville's were not. Hopefully Triway's scouts were able to pick up on some things John Marshall's could not. I think this will be a really good game. Rivalry. Turf. Etc etc.RedRider1;1495189 wrote:We'll have to pass effectively to keep them honest.

sanitizerGo Riders, Nice win last week. For some of these younger players that win could be a little of what they need as a confidence builder. I can't bring myself to say anything constructive about this game...... Just win baby!!! On a side note watched Ashland and Wadsworth and was NOT impressed with Ashland. Have two players.... Just saying....
The Orrville Triway game has always been heated, even in Basketball, baseball, track EVERYTHING! Great for these kids to experience this kind of rivalry buz game two! -

I seriously doubt John Marshall did any scouting.
Last week was about half speed for us. My fear is that we'll play at that same speed to start on Friday & get behind early. -
GreatwhiteTriway is a solid team. They will score points. They will take what you give them. The short routes and Carmichael's quick release make it very hard to get to him. About the only way is to go straight man to man, jamming all of the receivers and bringing the house. That in itself is risky though because 1 mistake and he will make you pay for it, coaches also recognized it and made a great call with the middle screen to the runningback. I do think he gets happy feet a little with pressure, not because he is afraid of being hit, but because he wants to make a play. If you can pressure him, even if you don't get to him completely it will help.

Yes, lets go with that. So what time will you have to get there to get a seat?Old Rider;1495465 wrote:Thats because Orrville doesn't have any weaknesses! -

I'd say you'd want to be in the parking lot by 6 and in your seat by 6:15.
The visitors stands are tiny. I'm sure plenty of fans will stop at Bishops or Coccia House before the game & waltz in at 6:45 expecting a 50 yd line seat. -

Old RiderJust stand on the track or walk out on the field and watch the game. Act like you own the place until someone tells you otherwise!
Can't stand sitting in the stands at a game...people yell stuff who have no clue (my father being one of those) and it also drives me crazy to sit there and hear some side conversation that has nothing to do with the game! -
