SVSM used to be 2 schools, Saint Vincent and Saint Mary. But then 1970 OHSAA instituted playoffs with 3 divisions, 4 regions per division and just took the computer champion from each region to play each other. So Akron snobs changed up and consolidated, took them 2 fb seasons to get their ducks in a row but 1972 the 2 privates merged and took state. They've been buying wins since before these Dover boys were born. Props to the parent$ who's favorite movies are Remember the Titans and The Blindside but have never seen The Ten Commandments.

From what I understand St. Marys was an all girls school. So how could they have helped?
i believe st marys started as all girls but became co-ed or it was vice versa...i can't remember

I'll make it clear..I'm not particularly a fan of private schools myself, but the guy comes across as a straight baby, sore loser. However, I think the real problem lies within urban private schools that control their enrollment to stay in a lower divison, giving them a competitive advantage. (NC, Ursuline, Wheeling Central). Its not like all the talent in Summit County goes to Akron SVSM. They have a good program, but are kind of like Massilon, they havent won anything in a long time.

My suggestion for private schools is to bump them up a division

St. Mary's won a state title in 1961, so my guess is that it was St. V who used to be an all-girls schools.

How could a team win a state title in '61 when football didn't start in Ohio until '72?

The Massillon hasn't won anything in a long time line if funny coming from a guy who's school finally made it past the reg. finals.
