It could have been one of the trailors that they been using? They look like Katrina trailors . Mingo needs to get out of there and start there own again . or those kids should just go to Steubenville as we are closer anyway . I wouldnt send my kid to a broken down school district no chance . Id send them to CCHS or Brooke before IC if not Steubenville

The only school that was condemned was the Elementary school on Fernwood Rd, but it was condemned by the school board not the state.

I have to assume that Creek has one more chance at the ballot. If it fails in August, then they will be forced to be absorbed into Steubenville or merge with Edison. But if I were to put money on it, I would bet that the levy will pass this time. The Creek people just don't want to be part of Big Red.

They will merge with Edison as both districts are failing . Your right alot of Creek people want no part of us . They send theyre kids to a second rate trailer dump right now when they have the best school district in the state right next to them . Some Mingo people I think will come to Steubenville and they are all more than welcome .

I would assume that Edison becomes the new high school because all we hear is that Indian Creek building is falling apart and is not safe for the kids and Edison was just asking for a levy to help with operating cost of their current building. The Creek people will not be able to argue about the high school being out at Edison, because no parent would want to send their kids to a building that is not safe. It is funny that Creek tried to use the excuse of their building not being safe for kids to attend while trying to force people to pass the levy, now it is going to come back and bite them hard when they try to fight Edison from taking over. You can only hope that the Edison board oversees the new district.

I can't even imagine what the merger would do to the football team, they would easily be classified as a D1 football team. They have enough problems competing in the Buckeye 8, what would they do if the had to play a D1 schedule?

They are a decent D-5 team no more and Ursulin would beat them by 60

    Wow, where to start.

We are being told to prepare for an August special election in which the 26 precincts would be open at IC cost.

It will not pass because the same people who vote down all their levies (Mingo, west end of Steubenville, Bloomingdale) will come out to vote against it.

I have no idea about mergers or the state stepping in. I dont' know how they could merge edison and creek when edison keeps needing to pass a 9.45 mill levy.

And sorry if this starts WW3 but..... "Its not like we are getting a kid from Western PA like Mooney does on occasion." No, you just occasionally get kids from Dayton who move into faculty members homes, then move back the day after your season ends. Bantering a rival is one thing, but let's not pretend your school is innocent either in the non-open enrollment battles.

Their enrollment would require them to be a D1 school, they would be the most sought after homecoming opponent in the state.

This situation reminds me a lot of the Canal Fulton Northwest a couple years back. Created a lot of anamosity between voters and it is still felt to this day. The best situation I would recommend the Indian Creek community is to go with the income tax solution, that will create more yes votes with the retired folks. NW went 17 years without passing an operating levy and this finally worked.

    Best wishes

Take this for what it's worth, but my daughter told me that the word going around SHS is that Edison is closing and merging with Steubenville so who knows.....

What you don't seem to realize is that multiple levies have been passed in the past few years, they are constructing a nice middle school as we speak and they continue to blow the rest of the money that was in the other levies that were passed to operate the other schools. The best thing that could happen would be for the state to step in and replace the school board with competent people that know what they are doing. Now don't get me wrong, there are a couple of people there that know what to, but if you go against the long term members on the board then they will get you voted out, so what you have is a board that always votes anonymously to approve anything one of them wants. You have members that have given friends and family paid positions for things they were not even qualified to be doing, but that is how it works out there. When the steelmills were operating in the district they were rolling in money from the taxes and still would be broke.

I don't know how well that would work with some of the kids already spending an hour or more on a bus each way just to get to the schools. They either merge with Creek or they just dissolve and kids can go to Creek, Steubenville, Buckeye Local, Carrollton and Toronto.

Could they force kids that live closer to Buckeye or Carrollton to attend Steubenville?

I don't think they could force anyone to do anything. A "merger" would be on paper and come with some other tax/faculty etc benefits.

Carrolton? That is still a long way and it is a different county .A bus ride from Amsterdam and Bergholz to Steubenville is about 30 minutes or maybe 45 depending on stops. Im sure some might go to Buckeye. I dont see kids going to Carrolton though

I hope the levy passes in August and that the Edison students go to Creek from now on. I really don't give a fuzzy f*ck about Creek or Edison, but I am interested in the effects of all these levies on Steubenville.

That's a good question. I am guessing Steubenville is D1 within 5 years since none of the other local schools can survive apparently.

As for another levy, forget it. Too many old focks and db's.
