Wooster cleans house...

    Roy made Bobby Knight.

I remember as a child after every basketball game my uncle would coach, the parties at his house. Now,they weren't wild parties but on any given night
Roy or Bobby would show up. I remember taking Roy's daughter Peggy to the games. Good times. I love those memories.

Would be nice to see the Wooster Program be successful again.
Agree totally the former AD was all about looking for her next job and not doing what was best for Wooster.
She fought against Baus for girls bball coach when he was clearly the best choice. In one year he has turned
That program around. Her moving on so a real AD could be put in place will allow all programs to now move
    Ahead.

She replaced every varsity coach except McCreary.

She was very difficult to work with even on very simple matters.

I'm still upset about her letting LeBron and his group of thugs in for free at last years Wadsworth game!

Ticket prices must've been too steep for The Chosen One...

Talked to a player last night that was very upset about McCreary leaving...he's afraid the new coach will make him be at every practice and work hard.
He was really afraid the new coach might make them run a lot.

No kidding! This was coming from a starter!

When you hear stuff like this, it's pretty easy to understand the underachievment the program has produced.

A new coach might run some kids off, and that's not a bad thing. The bar was set so low by the McCreary staff....ugh. I don't think the poor guy ever had much respect from any of the boys. They're pretty good at smelling out a soft touch. And there's a distinction between "liking" Mike McCreary and "respecting" him as a coach. A coach needs to be respected by his players, he doesn't necessarily need to be liked.

I'm just thankful there's hope for the kids coming up. They want to excel. They just need proper leadership. I mean, come on.. when you wear crocs and dirty t-shirts on the sidelines, why should you be taken seriously? Kids aren't stupid. And please, no more trotting out 80 year old men to teach kids how they did it back in the 50's. Don't think the boys didn't realize just how ridiculous that is. I sure hope the Wooster community is excited about this change. Now let's hope they don't screw up the hire.

If it's not Harbour, I'm guessing one of Norwayne's assistants will be the frontrunner. They all have very similar resumes. I can only imagine Norwayne's offensive scheme with Wooster's incoming athletes. Scary.

For some reason, I have a lot of confidence in Kellar. I can't explain it, but I am excited about 2012 and beyond Wooster Football.

You will get over it! Its the "McCreary is gone" hangover! Although its a good hangover for the Wooster folks.

All of Norwayne's coaches are joined at the hip, with exception to 2 Indorff and Young, I dont think you will see Harbour LaChance or Sette leave unless one of the 3 do.. For Norwayne's sake I hope none of them leave. Why would you??....u just won a State Championship, your getting turf(rumor), You won a WCAL title, you have it made here....then again we did have one leave 3 years ago....seen the money and ran....

I like all of the coaches for Norwayne I still am not 100% sold on them.....this was a very talented Senior class that people have been watching since they started pee wee and they were expected to win all the way through Jr High and High School......Not sure if the coaches are ready for a D2 or D1 school...IMO......a State Title on your resume is nice but, this is Harbours first head coaching job and he will tell you, He does nothing.....the DC and OC run everything....he is just there with the Head Coach title.....dont get me wrong he is VERY football smart and a great OLine and DLine coach, im just not sure he is ready to take the next big step......If he goes , so does Sette and LaChance...

Harbour is the sexy pick in the area, but I would rather have someone with a longer track record.

bobcat14 --- you are not 100% sold on your coaches??? My gosh, I don't care how talented your senior class was, there have been a lot of talented senior classes come through Wayne County and your coaches just became only the 2nd set of coaches to lead a group of seniors to a state title from our county!!! If you can't be sold on them, then send them to Dalton.....I love our guys, but would love to have a group that did what your guys did too!!!

LOL, won a State championship and still don't know about the coaches?? I wondered about them till the playoffs then those coaches were golden. I guess they just can't make everybody happy. If they don't do well next year, I'm sure it will be the coaches.......

I completely agree with this post. I watched the bobcats twice in the regular season (smithville/hillsdale) and I was not impressed with the coaching.....but let me tell you what once they hit the playoffs, I was very impressed with the way they went about their business and came up with great defensive schemes to stop those high scoring offenses.
  • THE4RINGZ
There are a lot of good non Norwayne coaches out there who.can turn this talented squad into a consistent winner. Let's move on.

Let me try to clear something up from my earlier post.......I think our coaches did a awesome job during the playoffs....I dont want them to leave i like their style of coaching and they have a great relationship with the players...i just wanted to put my two cents in about all the talk about wanting them in Wooster, I just dont think they are ready to move up IMO, I have the upmost respect for what they done this year and i have told them that.

It's going to be hard not to produce a better product on the field than Wooster's seen the last decade. The talent is there. The program just totally lacks structure. Every grade level runs a different offense. Different plays, different language, different everything. How messed up is that? You're re-learning the entire offense every year?? That's because the head coach just didn't care.

bobcat, you make a good point about those guys being joined at the hip. It'll be interesting to see if one of them ever branches out on his own, or if they all travel together. I don't mean any disrespect to Norwayne. It's just that for a young coach to win a state title, his value will never be higher than now. If he doesn't move now, then he's committed to Norwayne for a long time. If he'd played for Norwayne, I'd understand staying. But if you have career aspirations of moving up, then now would be the time. I think Norwayne will be fine either way. There's now a system in place and a growing football culture. That's often more important than the name of the coach.

I'm hearing all the guys being talked to have head coaching experience, which is good. As important as gameday coaching is, setting the entire program on the right direction is just as important to the future. Maybe the new coach will actually take time to meet some of the younger kids in the program?!? I guarantee you - 80% of the boys playing football at the freshman level and lower could not have named for you Wooster's head coach. That's awful, and that's entirely on him.
  • Orrvillefootball
Although i love this current streak, and hope Wooster never beats Orrville again. Time for Change is now. It has been for years. When fans are more excited about half time then the game something there is wrong. The community is dead. I hope they hire someone that will awaken that program.

I love the talk. There are a couple things I would like to add. I know nobody really cares and it's just my opinion but here goes. Norwayne's senior class was very good but definitely not Norwaynes entire team. I think it's time to recognize the fact that you dont win a State Championship because you have a great senior class. You win because you have a great team. Norwayne has a ton of returning talent and those kids deserve just as much praise as the senior class. I loved the seniors. Please dont misunderstand that. Norwayne returns 9 guys on the offensive side of the ball that are (and were this year) legitimate starters. Wallace will not be replaceable but the rest of the pieces are already battle tested and ready to go and they will all be a year older next year. WR's - Berger, Kneriem, Harris and Smith. RB - Jon Zimmerly. OL - Croftcheck(C), Weinman, Scruggs, Barb. All of those players started. Defense Jon Z, Caleb B, Cody S., Zach W, Kaleb H., Trevahn Beery, Brady B, Logan Studer., Brock Maxwell. All of them played significant roles all year and in the State Championship. All of them played a ton this year and none of them are seniors. Because Adam did so well this year everyone on the outside seems to think the senior class drove this team to the top. The reality is they had many more underclassmen playing then seniors. Norwayne will be very good again next year! Throw this group of youngsters in with that senior class and Norwayne's coaching staff had an easy job. I'm definitely not putting them down but I will say it again.... win without a butt load of talent. That makes you a great coach. I'm just not sold yet.

If Harbour would leave he would have to take LaChance and Indorf with him (and probably Sette). I don't see it happening.

If he did leave I predict that Norwayne's next head coach would be Brent Besancon ( if the Godfather doesn't reitre). I know that blows everyone's mind but the facts are the facts. I know from very good sources that Brent wanted the Norwayne job very badly when Maltarich left. He had already accepted the ?Rittman job and wouldnt go back on his word. Maltarich turned down Madison then took the job later on. Smithville folks won't except that but it's the fact.

Brent would not only win but he would win big with Norwaynes 2012 team.
  • Bobcat
Please dont misunderstand me. I respect Norwaynes coaching staff and what the were able to achieve this year. They made history. They put the kids in a position to succeed and succeed they did!! Going to the spread was the key. Norwayne was flooded with skill players and had to find a way to get it on the field. They not only got it on the field they got it in the endzone.....alot! For that I give the staff alot of credit. Anyone who has watched as much NHS football as me will tell you that play calling was terrible on many occasions. LaChance would brain lock and run the QB with the ball. When we played Hillsdale they actually ran Wallace on the same play 7 or 8 times in a row. It resulted in a punt. Wallace had thrown a couple pickls in the game and La Chance looked like a deer in the headlights. Wallace and the rest of the Cats bailed him out. Our coaches made no adjustments at the half of the Smithville game and we all see how that turned out. In most of the games Norwayne played in the regular season they man handled the other team. There was plenty of room for error. The coaches did do a nice jog in the playoffs although the first game hardly counts. Once again Brookfield was definitely not good enough to hang. I congratulate the staff but I still think it's a work in process. Hopefully it's all coaching and they all stay....and the ats keep on winning. WE'll see?
  • CCRolly
OK, while I don't mind the comments about the Norwayne coaching staff, lets get this back on track. If I'm the Wooster AD, I don't even make a call that way.
