Dr. KnOiTaLLThis entire thread has become mind-boggling... First, we lose all of our mega-posters. Now, everyone is consumed in conversation about an 0-4 team? Seriously, create your own thread or something. Or better yet, volunteer to assist with the football program next year so people have a REAL reason to complain about coaching.

rrfanBad News Bear- Mount Union can't give scholorships so if the kid went to mount and decided he wanted to play football then he can. If he quit then he probably realized he was not good enough.
Also, I don't think a coach can get a kid All Ohio honors by himself. So that is questionable IMO.
Third a kid playing with a torn ACL has a lot of heart and if he was one of my studs I would not sit him either. Research Chuck Moore from Mogadore. Played state championship as a running back with a torn ACL so it can be done and done well. -
PaulRecon Waynedale problems solved on here (Boring) now get ready for an old fashion butt whooping by the Bobcats. Recon a lot of Waynedale fans will show up to see the bobcats play or if you can't be at the game listen to Bobcat radio at Locallivesports.com Nuff said

was_that_itCouple quick thoughts on the Smithville/Hillsdale game....
I think Hilldale will need to play a mistake free game to win, this game has all the makings of a trap game. Smithville will be motivated from last year, and to prove themselves for this year. Hillsdale has fair week and that may affect some of the preparation...hope I am wrong. This Hillsdale team is kind of a mystery to me, if they play smart with heart and aggression, then they should come away with a win. It will be a close game IMO. -
855pridei cant wait for friday! i love home games in keith schock stadium.........wait what? not as long as soccor is played on that field

I call shenanigans. Hillsdale played a tough game against Loudonville, and many say they should have won. Smithville ... should not have won against Loudonville with the 23-6 drubbing they got.was_that_it;1276173 wrote:I think Hilldale will need to play a mistake free game to win ...
If anyone has to play mistake-free ball, it's Smithville.
I'm curious to see how Besancon handles a game like this. -

was_that_itO-Trap, no shenanigans. Loudonville won that game straight up. Hillsdale could have won, could have doesn't count.(Should have doesn't count either, see last year Hillsdale vs. Norwayne)
I digress. Hillsdale was out-hit bad and if Loudonville could defend against the pass, they would be a dominant team....they can't, so they aren't. Hillsdale consistantly plays poorly on fair week, Smithville will show up in a big way (or at least they should) and I suspect a tough, hard-fought game. But yes it would benefit Smithville to play mistake-free as well. -

I would think my heroes ghost or eyes would want to start a thread since they have all the answers. -
MOUNTAINBEARWELL PUT!! but there may be a few factors you left out. first is pee-wee football in the district, when 30 kids participate and by the time they reach their freshman year there are only 10 of those kids left, because someone or something has soured their bellies towards football, that highschool program suffers. next, I remember the struggles and terrible seasons that the fans at Hillsdale suffered and Norwayne would love a .500 season. but those communities got behind their programs, it becomes a community attitude. That does not mean that Z cant coach. But he has lost his players past and present, he has lost the confidence of this community. Coach Ramsey had bad seasons, but never lost his teams or community. Despite what happened to Coach Schrock, good seasons or bad, he never lost his community. Waynedales Jeff Sourers is still regaurded as one of our best, never lost the confidence of his community. Ask the fans of Hillsdale and Norwayne how their communities felt year after year of terrible seasons. Get rid of the pee-wee program, let coach Z move on and start repairing and rebuilding the great football tradition at Waynedale.Jmar25;1275695 wrote:Well... I'm not sure what else to say. I'm not there everyday and I haven't been to any of the games... Just scrimmages...
I think the information I've gathered from some folks on here shocks me. I can only say a few things then I'll be done with the Waynedale coaching "problem". It's not... it's an ATTITUDE PROBLEM.
I remember when this same talk spread about Seder after the 99 year.
Chippewa just beat Waynedale in 99 and it was instantly a coaching problem. 2000, 4-6... coaching problem... (never mind that the O line had one returning member and had two freshman that rotated in with some juniors) 2001, 1-9....coaching problem... (PLAY THE JV's echoed throughout the crowd on fridays despite a few sophomores at QB, WR, and O-line. When was the last time a JV team won against a varsity squad in the WCAL?) 2002, 3-7... coaching problem (These kids should be winning... forget that they competed in every game including scoring the most points all year on Smithville's runner-up team) 2003, 10-2... Not a coaching problem... how could he screw up with those kids... 2004, 5-5 Coaching problem... (Jobe Stutzman and Tim Zurcher. ONLY RETURNING KIDS THAT SNIFFED THE FIELD THE YEAR BEFORE)
I see the same thing with Z right now... it's sad...
The other thing that shocks me and really makes me sad as an alumni of the school and of this football team is the attitude of the kids and what I presume are some of the parents as well. I can tell you right now... This attitude doesn't exist on the wrestling team. Many of those kids are on this team. I guess Louie Stanley is just more of a "players" coach... It's sad that I had to use that term FOR HIGH SCHOOL KIDS! Didn't realize the NFL Diva syndrome had trickled down into college and is now into the H.S.'s
I had coaches that I didn't like but I sure as hell respected them. That was just the way I was brought up. If I didn't like them... I kept my mouth shut, said yes sir, did what they asked, and did what they asked because I was smart enough to know that he knew more than I did even if I didn't agree with him. I know I wasn't the only one... I know that many before have done the same thing... I would be willing to bet that those were the teams that had winning seasons, won the county, made the playoffs, won playoff games....
The other things... like favoritism... Ask any coach worth a grain of salt if they show favoritism... They will tell you damn right they do. You show it to the kids that do what is asked of them, prove to be leaders, have good behaviors, and show respect TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE TEAM, COACHES INCLUDED. Everyone shows favoritism. You can't not show some favoritism. It's human nature. What you don't do is slight kids. According some of you on here... Coach Z slights kids.... I DOUBT IT! You reap what you sow... that's life. Get over it.
Waynedale football the past couple years comes down to the simple fact that there is not enough in the trenches. When was the last time Waynedale had a line? There have been some quality o-linemen but not more than one or two at a time (You need 3 quality guys to have success and 4 to have a chance at doing something special) The last quality set of linemen were probably the lines in front of Nofsinger, Hendrix before that, Massaro/Persinger before that, Z, Kikume, Thompson... and so on...
So lets try and be civil and think about this with an unbiased thought process... Does Z deserve some of the blame... YES! Do the kids deserve some of the blame... YES!
Players play the game... They control the action, execution, and are the only ones with ability to overcome the challenges that may occur throughout a game.
Coaches coach. They put the guys into a position to succeed. They try to overcome the challenges that occur before the game starts and more importantly... they try and make boys into men and teach them more than just the game. They help them EARN the qualities that make them into outstanding citizens. -
855pridehow about *a big name player* from last years waynedale team getting arrested at college for selling weed?! he was a stud athlete in last years graduating class. so much for playing college ball at mount.

It's not like we didn't see it coming. He got in trouble twice during his high school years for smoking it. -

Not so sure we should call him a "big name player" or stud athlete though...he certainly had the potential but it was never realized unfortunately.
Again, I am sure ghost or eyes have an opinion on THIS ONE.... -

You know what...this is all Coach Z's fault. His constant ranting and raving made this kid do the things he did. Yes, baseball was his sport. Since you keep asking for me to comment, i will.he was a big name player....a stud, that was under utilized....his talent was known, but he didnt fit Z's mold and paid the price all season. :that is where mentoring and building young men failed this shild/young man. Was it the families fault? Was it coaches fault? I mean you keep telling us how z build fine young men and prepares them for the real world.

1 was a orrville kid
Your post is dripping with sarcasm, but you are on the right trail. This is a hard nosed athlete that could of contributed if given a shot. But he was the wild child, that is untolerable and pushed aside by this coach.wcalfan;1276366 wrote:You know what...this is all Coach Z's fault. Pure athlete that made bad choices. Suffered the consequnces. Didnt get the support or mentoring to rehab andlearn from past mistakes. What a travesty.wcalfan;1276375 wrote:Yes, baseball was his sport. He got suspended during football for smoking pot and didn't play on the basketball team.

So were any of his mistakes his fault? Of course not...if he would have just gotten the proper mentoring from Coach Z. Don't worry ghost, he will get "mentored" now by a warden of some kind. He has some serious charges against him. I am sure somehow though this recent incident is somone elses fault, isn't it? Talk about a travesty! This is the problem with our current situation, parents making excuses for these kids.ghostrider;1276403 wrote:Good post. Sedar also has the community support
