Norwayne beats Kenton 48-42, wins DIV State Championship! Post-Game

  I thought I'd start a separate thread for post-game discussion after one of the greatest high school football games anyone will witness.

  One of the great state final games for sure. Wished I could of gone to this one. The atmosphere looked absolutely electric at Massillon today.

  First of all, CONGRATULATIONS to BOTH TEAMS on making it this far, laying it all on the line tonight, and competing harder than ever, giving fans one of the greatest games we've ever seen. The memories both teams' kids have made will last a lifetime! Congratulations to Kenton on a great season, and you have a great team. Congratulations to the NORWAYNE BOBCATS on their state championship! It's for you, it's for your community! It's for the WCAL and Wayne County, too. What a fun ride you've taken us all on!
  
  I could go back over the last week and find all the outlandish score predictions people made for this game, almost everyone picking Kenton to blow out Norwayne. Even when I and other Norwayne supporters tried to reason "Don't sleep on Norwayne. They have what it takes!" We got slammed for even thinking the Bobcats could make it a game. Kenton found out REALLY early that Norwayne was the real deal. I hope all the Kenton fans out there can eat some crow, come on here, and give the Norwayne Bobcats the credit they deserve. The better team won, tonight. Period. No doubt in my mind.
  
  I think the key to the game was the pressure Norwayne put on Mauk with only 3 down linemen. Those Norwayne kids played their hearts out and had Mauk running for his life all game. And when on offense, the Bobcats had so many huge conversions to move the sticks and keep drives alive! Those kids might not go DI to play college football, they are disciplined, well-coached, humble, they're gamers that turn it on under the lights, and they played as a complete team.

  P.S. It was great meeting & hanging out with so many football fans at our tailgate, some from Kenton and others from all around Wayne County. Great meeting you O-Trap and oldwildcat_65.

  As a Waynedale guy, I've gotta say "congrats, Norwayne, and way to represent." That's on behalf of every guy who ever played football in the WCAL the past 40 years. I never dreamt it would be Norwayne to win the first state championship!! That was a school who along with Hillsdale and Northwestern were literally the doormats of the league. Kudos to those kids and their families. I'm very proud of you guys. This is something the players, staff, and community will always have.

  So very proud of our young men!! Words escape me. Thank you to all that supported us! Sometimes it's not so bad to be considered the underdog (or cat). Great game Kenton! The best "Cats" won! Go Falcons...5-2 baby! I heard that bell loud and proud!

  1. Congratrulations to Norwayne. you played a heck of a game, and refused 2 lose. Kenton has a very nice team, it was fun to watch them play today.
  
  2. I want to personally thank the Bobcat Nation for a fun ride. I am a die hard Husky, but started on the play off journey with you all in week 12. It was an enjoyable ride to be on. Concratulations to you, and thank you all for bringing one home for the WCAL.

  I had to go to North Olmstead today, so I listened on the way up to WQKT. The guys were going nuts. It was truly a great game to listen to. After a quick stop and turn around, I got to listen to the rest of the game on the way back home. A HISTORIC GAME FOR THE AGES!

  NORWAYNE....I, Beast, Being a Waynedale guy...was at my sons wrestling meet at Ashland Crestview. The game was on in the lobby and we were catching updates between matches. Let me tell you....there was Waynedales FULL wrestling TEAM, parents and fans......standing around watching the end of the game! LOL The lights in the gym were off....everyone was gone except Crestviews Coaches and a few Crestview people....AND WAYNEDALES WRESTLING FAMILY. We stayed and watched the NORWAYNE FOOTBALL FAMILY Achieve your GOALS and DREAMS!
  
  Congratulations on a tremendous accomplishment and thank you for the ride....My family supported a few of your playoff games and we certainly were cheering from afar for success today!

  I want to Thank You for bring the Bell!!! It is nice to see fans from other teams support my team!!! We are very proud of our Bobcats because they played their hearts out!!! Our coach Mr. Joe Harbour said it best "They may have Mr. Football but we are State Champs!!"
