NORWAYNE....I, Beast, Being a Waynedale guy...was at my sons wrestling meet at Ashland Crestview. The game was on in the lobby and we were catching updates between matches. Let me tell you....there was Waynedales FULL wrestling TEAM, parents and fans......standing around watching the end of the game! LOL The lights in the gym were off....everyone was gone except Crestviews Coaches and a few Crestview people....AND WAYNEDALES WRESTLING FAMILY. We stayed and watched the NORWAYNE FOOTBALL FAMILY Achieve your GOALS and DREAMS!

Congratulations on a tremendous accomplishment and thank you for the ride....My family supported a few of your playoff games and we certainly were cheering from afar for success today!

I'd like to argue with you but I can't, you called it and it wasn't bragging because the Cats backed it up.

    Enjoy the celebration

For those asking about potential college football players on Norwayne's team:
ON THE RECRUITING TRAIL -- The run to the state championship has helped Norwayne players attract more attention from college scouts.

Harbour said Wallace, Jon Maibach and Lawrence Wolfe have been garnering lots of interest from Div. II and III colleges.
"Adam is also starting to get some interest from some Div. I schools," Harbour said. "Toledo and Youngstown State were in this week to talk.

What an outstanding Game!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS NORWAYNE BOBCATS!! STATE CHAMPIONS!!!!

I want to start by saying congrats to Norwayne on a great game! I played football for Kenton back in the mid 1980's, we were always the doormats of the Western Buckeye League just like you had been in your league (and I do stress had). Your boys played an outstanding game from start to finish and earned the victory. I was very impressed with Mr. Wallace, great leader on both sides of the ball, but to me the difference maker in the game was Harris (#5). That kid was catching huge passes and breaking up passes on defense that normally Maty would complete. Geat team, great effort, and great fan base, good job Norwayne on your 2011 Division IV State Championship! You've earned yourself a fan from Kenton and I'll be rooting for you next year!

Okay, now that I've slept on it, my official thoughts for the game:

    1. Tailgating with all you knuckleheads was awesome! PIT knows how to grill a mean brat and burger! If he ever tailgates again, I recommend being there!

    2. It was pretty cool of Aaron Dorksen and Mike Plant to come visit the tailgate as well and get thoughts from some of the people there (some of which were featured in the DR today).

    3. I was incredibly impressed by the generosity and good-natured attitude from the Kenton tailgaters! Classy people, and I would gladly share that experience again with them.

    4. GoFalcons is the man for being able to ring that bell all game! It was awesome. We were all yelling "THIRD DOWN" so people knew to plug their ears if they were sitting nearby.

    On to the game:

    5. Gotta say, it really wasn't talked about as much, but Norwayne has shown a REALLY good pass defense all throughout the playoffs! Their DBs really haven't been accented in the back-and-forth on here, but I think they deserve a lot of credit. There were times when it took the D-line 4-5 seconds to get to Mauk, but when they got there, he still had the ball, because his targets were all covered. That doesn't include the 3 picks by Beery, who had one heck of a game on defense last night!

I honestly think the defensive backs are the unsung hero of the game last night. Yes, Kenton still put up 42. That's because they're a ridiculous offense, but they could have hung about 70 or more on most teams Norwayne has seen this year.

    Big kudos to them!

    6. Wallace is Superman. His secret identity is blown.

    7. I noticed that the running attack from Norwayne's two-headed Zim-monster wasn't really showcased much last night, even though they did well when they did run. Any idea why? Still, the coaches went with something that ended up working in the end (barely, though).

    8. Who was the little stand-up nose on defense? The Kenton O-line was having a BEAR of a time with him.

    9. Maty Mauk has a cannon. I'd heard about it, and I believed it, but it was a whole new thing to see it at the end of the first half. Maty can throw bombs.

    10. I do think not having a RB in the backfield hurt Kenton in this game. If nothing else, having another option to pay attention to would have at least probably kept the defensive line more honest.

    11. What I loved watching was that these two teams really knew what style of football fit them the best, and the coaches coached appropriately to that. Mike Mauk is a heck of a coach, and with as critical as I have been of Harbour, he has definitely let the kids do what they're best tailored to do.

    12. Wallace has really learned how to check down much better in these final games. It was good to see.

    13. This team has WORLDS more discipline than the Norwayne teams playing Smithville and Hillsdale, and that was probably the most impressive thing to me. Good teams can win with talent. Great teams will win with discipline. This team had both in Week 15.

Congratulations, 'Cats! I told you that victory was waiting for you, and you went out there and got it!

Congratulations to Norwayne. What a game. Wallace is a beast. He is a tremendous leader. Norwayne definitely has some studs. So many players with huge plays. Harris did have some huge catches Ryebread but I watched the game again this morning and he gave up 3 TD's to Kenton with poor coverage and he certainly doesnt like to hit. #26, #2 and #22 definitely dont mind hitting in that defensivive backfield . #10 played really well back there with 3 interceptions. One of those was tipped by #2 on a big time diving play at the goal line. The stand up nose guard was #30 Austin Wilson. I think he's the kig that had a brain tumor removed last year.....amazing

Perhaps someone in the know could do a story on Caleb Harris (I think)....he was the #4 receiver behind Knierman. If not due to an injury to Knierman....how could this have all played out? Harris was very effective throughout the playoffs and certainly a weapon offensively!!!

norwayne had 3 stand up nose guards...Austin Wilson #30 ....Cody Scruggs #70.....and Brock Maxwell #3.....Kenton got hit with a 3 headed monster it that position......#30 Quick....#70 Power....#3 Quick and Power.....

I thought they would make adjustments at half but all game the couldnt figure out how to block Norwayne's front line and then when #42 came off the ends it made it worse for them....

    Congrats Cats!!!!!
