Ha, ha. Went to all three games yesterday but knew this game was going to be The Game of the state finals. Congrats to Norwayne! Thought a lot of folks were underestimating them a little and thinking it was just a formality that Kenton would bring the title home. That's why they play the game. -

One of the best high school games I've watched. Adam Wallace will be playing division 1 football next year...he is an outstanding young man and great athlete. -

I also have some Norwayne connections... I coached starters Kaleb Harris (WR/DB) and Zack Weinman (RT/DT) as well as Joe Dreher (backup QB, longsnapper) and Brock Maxwell (RB/LB) in travel baseball the past 2 summers. Very proud of those boys for the amazing season they had as sophomores. Norwayne definately has more talent coming up through their system....

iced earthIf Norwaynes current coaching staff stays put, the rest of the league may need to upgrade. Simply tilling the middle of the field and leaving the spinklers on won't be enough anymore. Very impressed with how they coached in the playoffs.

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS to BOTH TEAMS on making it this far, laying it all on the line tonight, and competing harder than ever, giving fans one of the greatest games we've ever seen. The memories both teams' kids have made will last a lifetime! Congratulations to Kenton on a great season, and you have a great team. Congratulations to the NORWAYNE BOBCATS on their state championship! It's for you, it's for your community! It's for the WCAL and Wayne County, too. What a fun ride you've taken us all on!
I could go back over the last week and find all the outlandish score predictions people made for this game, almost everyone picking Kenton to blow out Norwayne. Even when I and other Norwayne supporters tried to reason "Don't sleep on Norwayne. They have what it takes!" We got slammed for even thinking the Bobcats could make it a game. Kenton found out REALLY early that Norwayne was the real deal. I hope all the Kenton fans out there can eat some crow, come on here, and give the Norwayne Bobcats the credit they deserve. The better team won, tonight. Period. No doubt in my mind.
I think the key to the game was the pressure Norwayne put on Mauk with only 3 down linemen. Those Norwayne kids played their hearts out and had Mauk running for his life all game. And when on offense, the Bobcats had so many huge conversions to move the sticks and keep drives alive! Those kids might not go DI to play college football, they are disciplined, well-coached, humble, they're gamers that turn it on under the lights, and they played as a complete team.
Congratulations to Norwayne!
P.S. It was great meeting & hanging out with so many football fans at our tailgate, some from Kenton and others from all around Wayne County. Great meeting you O-Trap and oldwildcat_65. -

Yep I doubted them all year long. I was wrong and the first to admit it. They are the best team in Division 4. Congrats to Norwayne the one poster who talked about you guys refusing to lose was right on. When the game got close, you guys really did refuse to let it slip away. However, with all of what is being said, Kenton definitely has a TON to be proud of. 14-1 is an amazing season, Maty is a great quarterback and I'm sure will do awesome things at the next level. Hats off to "a historic game!" --For you, BRF!
