If the homers on here are bringing it up it must be a bit of a problem.
And if this kid was having his facemask grabbed time and time again but still got a PF penalty late In the game then I guess facemask grabbin ain't Workin.
And don't tell me you never saw a certain QB with his helmet off showing his face off to the home crowd. If you never once saw that I question how many Big Red games you actually saw from 07, 08, 09.
Actually, I have only missed 1 game since 1961. Certainly there have been many times when players have removed their helmets; It's the times we live in. Every team we have played against has had some players remove their helmets; lately it has been more prevalent and You can thank the pros for that.
I still think you are beating a dead horse here.

Ahh, truth; there's the rub.I Am Ahab;985763 wrote:The truth is obviously hurting here. Big Red is a great football program with great tradition, great players, a great coaching staff. But the way some of you on here act like any criticism of Big Red is blasphemous is a little weird and somewhat juvenile. It's high school football. Some people act like if anything is said against Big Red you are trampling on a flag or something.
Some ppl need to get over it.
Cheers! -

Doesn't sound like you played for Reno but I have good friend who played under him and I remember him commenting on how when he played you weren't allowed to take off your helmet and after I thought about it I never remembered seeing players on the sidelines with their helmets off when I was younger.SUPER787;985792 wrote:[/B]

Then you started ideally it alot amongst the star players in recent years. I even remember this friend of mine commenting on how it was a sign of Coach Sac softening in his old age.
That coupled with the prevalence on personal foul penalties over the last few years would lead someone objective to think Big Red football is becoming somewhat of a monster that is hard to control or doesn't want to be controlled. Idk.
The kid who committed this personal foul that some say cost SHS the game has been getting snatched up by the facemask over and over. Yet in the end I don't think he learned or cared about the facemask grabbing, obviously.
I'm not the only one making these observations. There is a truth here. Did I not read on here going into the Mooney game that part of Big Reds prob was penalties and more specifically personal fouls Go back and check the thread. That's true. It's not just a judgement or someones opinion.
If you are having a problem with personal fouls that means there may be a discipline issue. Seems like kids are getting away with a lot more than they did in the past.
And blaming it on the pros is a cop out. Get real. And the reason some kids get locked up after high school is bc of video games. Easy way out. -

I did not blame the penalties on the pros; I said the removal of the helmets and the showboating is prevalent in the pros and some of these kids copy it. We never allowed tattoos before, but here they are. Things change.I Am Ahab;986031 wrote:Doesn't sound like you played for Reno but I have good friend who played under him and I remember him commenting on how when he played you weren't allowed to take off your helmet and after I thought about it I never remembered seeing players on the sidelines with their helmets off when I was younger.

This subject has run it's course for me. Big Red will continue to do fine. Have a happy Thanksgiving.

You weren't even at the game, but you talk all this garbage about what went on with the "penalty",chest pounding, helmets off,and all the other so-called stuff you claim goes/went on!!!I Am Ahab;985760 wrote:I'm not mad. You're a complete joke as well as all the things you claim go on...but let's remember, you weren't at the game!
As far as the penalty...you,your friend/friends,neighbor,and most everyone else has NO CLUE who or what was said!
Plus, you calling out Coach Sac on a frickin website shows how immature and asinine you are! Don't do the logical thing and go to a booster meeting to vent your anger towards him. It makes too much sense to go there and let him know that he's lost/losing control of his players. You do one heck of a job of chest pounding, so go and lay it all out there................... -
I Am AhabI'd be happy to go to a booster meeting. Like I said, do I have to be a member or what's the deal?
Also, just because I wasn't at "the" game doesn't mean I've never seen a Big Red game. Nice fail though.
And I know id be considered a joke bc I said one thing negative about Big Red (amongst hundreds of positives).
Typical. No wonder everyone hates the Big Red fans on here. Internet Big Red fans are over the top. Y'all need to chill. People are allowed to question Lord Reno on occasion. -

We are always defending ourselves and sometimes cant decern between constructive critisism and just BS .. Take it easy not everybody reads all your posts . Look your concerns with helmets being taken off ,I dont know what you are reffering to . I dont like that behavior either . Coach does not go for that showboating crap believe me . Ive seen him throw people off the team for unsportsmanlike behavior . with that said I will only concede this Our players play to the limit no doubt ,sure Ill guareentee they run there mouths on the field to opposing players depending on the kid ,but acting like players say from Ursulin nope noway .. Now that team has an attitude problem and they go into there little pre game rituals trying to intimidate opponents . Its kind of amusing to me since I remember teams like Youngstown South and East doing similar things and have heard Younstown North did the same thing back in the day.. Its entertaining to me .. showboating and helmets coming off are I dont know . I mean when your coming to the sidline after a score and you need water thats one thing and if your already off the field and your one of those types that like to get the crowd going and your helemet comes off I dont care . I dont recall seeing it since its a standing rule and always has been that helmets stay on at all times .. I just dont know what your complaining about . Why dont you join the boosters .I Am Ahab;987234 wrote:I'd be happy to go to a booster meeting. Like I said, do I have to be a member or what's the deal?

FairwoodKingHas Reno said anything about hosting a Rally in Death Valley again? I would like to see us play a WPIAL AAAA team.
-
Sykotyk
That would be great. Missed having a rally this year to go to. The OVAC Kickoff is cool, though. Hope that keeps up.FairwoodKing;992201 wrote:Has Reno said anything about hosting a Rally in Death Valley again? I would like to see us play a WPIAL AAAA team. -
FairwoodKingDoes anybody know if there is going to be a Rally in Death Valley next year? I hope there will be.

skankAre you back living in Ohio now FWK?
-
FairwoodKing
No, I only stayed in Steubenville three months last year. My plans didn't work out. I did return home this year to see a couple of Big Red's games, including the one against Massillon. I wasn't impressed with your football team, but I certainly like your band.skank;1007666 wrote:Are you back living in Ohio now FWK? -
skankWhat a surprise.
-
ManO'WarThe Big Red players still keep their helmets on all the time...unless they are getting water or on the bench going over things with the coaches...even then most still have their helmets on.
This is true even at practice. -
Thinthickbigred
Yep Reno is very tough on his kids .. Take that to the bank. He was one mean and nasty coach and his players reflect that image for sure. He is also a comedian .ManO'War;1011212 wrote:The Big Red players still keep their helmets on all the time...unless they are getting water or on the bench going over things with the coaches...even then most still have their helmets on.

Don't get your bowels in an uproar. Massillon was the best team we played in the regular season. I'm just sorry they didn't make the playoffs.skank;1009627 wrote:What a surprise.
I'm already planning to return to Ohio next year to see the game. Maybe you and I could meet before the game. -
ManO'WarNo disrespect, but I think that Ursuline was the best team in the regular season....and MoJo wasn't too far behind.
-
SykotykThought other Big Red fans would find this interesting. I'm in Arlington, Texas at the UIL state championship games and Nike has a booth setup for a contest to give away pro combat uniforms to a team down here. And, they have the same mannequin they used in Canton and Massillon setup sporting the Big Red uniforms with Abe Bryan logoed helmet. Was talking to the two guys running the booth and showed him my license and the fact I still had the ticket stub to the Massillon game from this year in my wallet.
Talking prices for the uniforms and said retail one kit is $650. Teams like Ohio State, etc that have all-sport contracts with Nike generally get their uniforms marked down 40%. He had no clue the actual cost to Nike to make the uniform kits to outfit a player. Not sure how many were given to Big Red for use with the team. But, that was a substantial giveaway. They were talking about Illinois and another state had winners picked this year already. But, Big Red was the first team to win the first competition. So, that's why our uniforms are on display around the country when they setup one of their booths.
The one guy was at the game when they were unveiled and marveled at the atmosphere. But, he also remarked about PBTS being amazing as well for being strictly a high school stadium as well. -
ManO'WarSome more good pub for the Red!
I read that Moeller has won the contest for next year's unis. -
FairwoodKingWhen is the school going to rebuild the other three sides of the stadium and put in the new press box?

Right after you donate I'm guessing. Have you driven through that depressed area lately? You better hope obama man doesn't block fracking or that city is doomed -
SUPER787
You have made that point with about a third of your posts. University towns will never be doomed. City's population was actually increasing before the gas exploration projects started.bases_loaded;1023144 wrote:Right after you donate I'm guessing. bigred_dadI drove past the stadium today and seen some equipment there, was wondering what was going on.
-
ManO'WarThey are also going to fix the lights...adjust and maybe add to fix any dark spots.
