Week 12: Minerva (11-0) vs Dover (10-1)

  • Dover
From the pic there looks like their are 12 pretty even sections of seating with 7 on the home side so that would be aprox 4200 and 2800 if it is a 7,000 seat stadium.

I remember a game their in the 80s when the place was a mud pit with scary wooden bleachers.

Nice try. Youngstown is about as far as Canton.

And since I probably have to slow it down even more.... Steubenville beat Ursuline in Youngstown. Wonder what dOVER would have lost by?

Sunset - what year are you supposed to graduate in ?? Someone needs a life..

If that is the case ... the visitor side will never hold the town of Minerva & other NBC fans.

last years dover team was better than you guys are putting them out to be. the strength of our schedule just didnt give us enough points like they do any other year but we were obviously better then average to knock off big red in Death Valley and then a very good Sheridan team basically playing at home. but about this year idk much about Minerva but the NBC was weak this year so we'll see i guess
  • Dover
Loco, we're you at the Marlington/Dover game last year? If Minerva brings what you say (and I believe they will) and Dover has its usual crowd, I would expect a similar attendance to that game which I can in no way see fitting into this venue.

Dover overflowed Zanesvilles home side last year in week 12.

If there are several stadiums that have applied for playoff games, what dictates how the games are assigned? If other stadiums like Jackson, PBTS and even Lake were all options due to location & size, what goes into the thinking to pick the stadium with seating being the issue?
  • Crimson and Gray Hair
It's because CCC is a private school and they recruited the OHSAA personnel(from all over the state mind you!) who do the venue assignments and arranged for two public schools to have to play there and squeeze their butts real close together.

It's the same old same old - public schools always get the shaft!

If what many Dover fans say is true... After the band plays at the half, there should be plenty of seats available after the bandies leave :)

Yes I was at that game last year and I am inclined to agree with you ... I don't think it is going to hold everyone after talking to some friends.
  • GRAYWOLF
One thing about the location, if it's to small to accommodate the crowd. OHSAA will never hear the end of it. Dover people are experts at complaining. They also know who to complain to. I'm one of them. Besides Everyone will be at the other game because the locals know that CCC will be crowded. So they will not come, which will make it ok. What ever happened to the day and attitude. We will play anywhere in week 12.

Also the real BS from OHSAA is next year when they move the finals, talk about it never being the same. Canton is the birth place of football and the NFL hall of fame for god sake.

When do tickets go on sale at Dover? Is there a schedule for how they go on sale? Parents of players, staff, season ticket holders, etc?
  • Doverbuck
Tickets are on sale every day during school and a couple nights till 8 pm sales end friday at noon. All tickets are G.A. so season ticket holders do not have a special day.

Not enough seats and they sit way back from the field. The turf is very worn. Bad choice when they had Paul Brown and Jackson available. They could have put Steubenville/Mooney at Kent and had Dover/Minerva at Fawcett.
  • LocoEngineer66
Kent is too far from Steuby for that game ... Minerva game should have been at PBTS

Jackson is only about 1,000 seats bigger than Central and Central is a nicer stadium than Jacskon. Jackson's visitor side is not that big and not as nice as Central's. The turf is not worn. I have no idea where you are getting that one. CCC's stadium and overall facilty is so much nicer than Minerva's home field it is beyod debate (CCC's stadium is bigger than any NBC stadium). CCC's stadium is also nicer than Jackson's where the team getting the visiting side would be jipped seating wise. Paul Brown was the only better option in the area and the OHSAA didn't choose that stadium for whatever reason.

Per the other site, Minerva's Jake Riley suffered a torn meniscus/acl strain in their week 11 win against Poland and will be out Friday night. How does this affect the Lions?
  • LocoEngineer66
Woo ... he was one head of the 3 headed monster that got them to 11-0. This is a huge loss for Minerva ... more on defense. They have boys that can step up and do they job but the chemistry will be affected.

As much as I enjoy watching high school sports I hate to see these kids get hurt. You just can't help but have it temper your enthusiasm a bit when it's at the expense of their health!

Absolutely, hate to see kids get hurt and miss games, especially at this point in the season. Hope for a speedy recovery for Mr. Riley.

agree. tough to see a player go down at this time of the year. They work hard all year to get to this point now will have to watch.
