Week 11: #8 Smithville (8-2) at #1 Bucyrus Wynford (10-0)
-
O-TrapI can't believe nobody has started this thread.
Smithville has had a pretty good season, and honestly, they should be 9-1. The offense is tough, with a big O-line and a smorgasbord of talented runners they put in the backfield, as well as a QB that can throw and run very well. They run an augmented Wing-T offense, same as they have for the last 35 years, all under the current head coach, Keith Schrock.
The defense has been steady. They've got a GREAT pass rush, and they hit hard. The philosophy at Smithville is discipline and hitting over talent and skill play, which is reflected on both sides of the ball.
Can anyone from Wynford chime in on what the Smithville fans should expect?
Also, what is the stadium like? Field in decent shape? Seating capacity? How are the concessions, anything a visitor has to try?
Hoping for a GREAT game tomorrow! -
Mr MiyagiSmithville may have a hard time keeping up with Wynford's sub 10.0 100 speed

I heard they have a kid you can't time with a watch. They have to have NASA come in with a super sonic phaser ray just to get his time in the 40. The results are classified. -

Per someone who has seen film, he IS very fast, and could prove to be a problem for the Smithies.THE4RINGZ;956739 wrote:I heard they have a kid you can't time with a watch. They have to have NASA come in with a super sonic phaser ray just to get his time in the 40. The results are classified. -

Contain, contain, contain.
Stay home on defense and make the tackle. -

Another perspective for your stadium/capacity question:O-Trap;956687 wrote:Also, what is the stadium like? Field in decent shape? Seating capacity? How are the concessions, anything a visitor has to try?
Clear Picture (CPI Wooster) asked if I'd keep stats for them for this game. The only catch is there might not be room... not just for me, but for them! I heard it was proposed they might only have room for 1 person in the press box (probably cameraman), and the others might have to be in their van. If that's the case, I'm guessing they'll film from the press box and commentate from the van off of closed-circuit recording... or something? That'd be tough to do for a commentator! If that's the case, we're under the expectation that I'd just sit and watch the game with friends instead of taking up another spot. I hope there's room, though!
Good luck Smithies! Dalton beat them last year 34-21 with a dominant running game. Hopefully you can do the same! It's not gonna be easy, though. Go Smithies! -
THE4RINGZPit...which games are you working this weekend for CPI?

It was just going to be the Smithville game (a co-worker's relative is doing the game, so he asked me if I would help). If there's room, I'll be helping out. If not, then I was already planning on going to the game anyway. It's nothing big... they just asked if I'd help out and keep stats for them Friday. Saturday afternoon I'm going to SVSM @ University School and Saturday night I'm going to Wadsworth @ GlenOak.THE4RINGZ;956888 wrote:Pit...which games are you working this weekend for CPI? -
O-TrapWynford seems to have a smaller following on here. That's odd for a team with such a proud winning tradition in recent years. What gives?
-
1486wdthey had a few guys that posted pretty heavy on here the last 2 years, but I don't see any sign this year. The stadium has been in decent shape both years, but who knows with all the rain.

THE4RINGZGood luck tonight Smithies.
GO GREEN!!!!!! -
riders1The threads seem to be mostly Wayne County football fans not really an all Ohio following.
GO SMITHIES !!! -
O-TrapCalPreps has Wynford winning this one 31-20.
Just a fun fact. -
thePITmanAnd Fantastic50.net, which has out-predicted CalPreps in 7 of the 10 weeks this season:
Wynford (Bucyrus) (10-0) by 17 (85%) vs Smithville (8-2) -
Mr. RussellLuckily for Smithville, Fantastic 50 had Smithville losing by double digits 2 times this year in games where Smithville won.

THE4RINGZGiving my karma to the Smithies tonight by tearing up the lunch buffet at Sam's Pizza today.

FlashSmithville loses 33-7. Good run at the end just didn't have it tonight.

thePITmanWynford was a very good team. Their QB has a great arm, and they run some good routes. Smithville just couldn't cover or tackle, and Wynford made quick work of them... when they had the ball. Smithville did a great job of sustaining drives but a few times in the first half stalled in Wynford territory and came away with no points. If they score in at least one of those drives, it changes the complexion of the game a bit. Meanwhile Wynford was explosive and taking advantage of when they actually had the ball. Big line, big wide receivers, fast running back, good QB. They are a pretty good team.
Now I have a headache from sitting in front of and behind some cow bells. Ouch. -
NYFan54Wynford faces a fast spread team this Friday in Lucasville Valley. Very good quarterback
