First off...Hats off to the Indian Nation...You guys came into that game a little timid (which I can't blame you) but adjusted very well (15-13 NW beat Mooney in the second half). What's a shame , is both times we have played catholic powerhouse teams in the playoffs, (Youngstown Mooney & Cleveland Benedictine) their fans are the most rude ignorant fans I have ever experienced in my 25 years of watching high school football. As we all know, the catholic schools recruit all over the area & because of this you do have talented teams. Unfortunately, your fans act as if you guys are above & beyond playing the public school's. All of our kids are from our little village, we have watched them grow as respectful kids into adults. We talk to them, we know them, and we know all about them & their parents. You guys don't know who your kids are until they step onto that football field. Then you only know them as football players. You love your black catholic kids that can run a 4.2 or the 6'5 300 pounders. Other than that the black kids don't go to your catholic church, and have no chance at going to your catholic church. I feel if they couldn't play football you pompous fans could give a rats ass about them!! I grew up being a part of the all high & mighty catholic religion & once again I see how religion ruins everything. The OHSAA needs to let the cathloc diocese have there own playoffs. What's nice was watching real fans supporting a real team who we know & love personally. If you guys are as great as what you think you are, why not act like it. Good luck Steubenville whoop some Mooney Ass next week!!

First of all whiner, why take away from your teams effort and great season to sing the same old boring song?

Your fans should be talking about their great season, not listening to you whine like a little girl

As far as some of your points above regarding the game, Mooney was subbing heavily throughout the second half. You should be proud of your teams efforts to hang in their, but don't ignore the facts

The other crap about not knowing your kids, teammates etc. is just ignorant hogwash. Mooney is an incredibly close community, and you have no idea what so ever what their about

    Enjoy your winter

Well I guess it's a good thing they play both halfs and not just one.

This is the second time I have had to hear this racist crap from a NW fan, and the Mooney fans are rude and ignorant? I've known the kids that are Senoirs since the 7th grade as do most Mooney fans, and yes I even knew the "black ones" that long. It makes me so mad when I have to hear this crap from somebody on a message board, because I bet you wouldn't say this in public only when you hide behind a fake name and a computer screen.

My favorite part is when you say we don't let black people in the catholic church. If you are going to say something like that do a little research cause I'm about to make you look stupid. although you did a good job on your own. READY! The Bishop of the Youngstown Diocese is BLACK.

Now hope you had fun at the Klan rally last night racisit

I don't know why I'm even going to reply to a complete idiot like you but I will. If we had any kid who runs a 4.2 or any kid who is 6'5" 300 pounds I'm sure I would know about him. You are an embarrassment to your community, team, and yes, your own family. Why would anybody be so blatantly racist is beyond me. In case you haven't noticed it 2011 and we live in NE Ohio. It's not 1950 in Alabama. MOST intelligent people have long since given up bigoted hatred but I guess it still survives in little villages like Canal Fulton, what a shame. You have the nerve to attack Mooney fans when your views spew such racism? I hope and pray that you are in a very small minority of your community.

By the way, I personally know that two of the black kids on Mooney's team have gone through struggles that I hope you will never have to endure. They have overcome these obstacles to be fine athletes and even better gentlemen. They will get a college education and make something out of themselves instead of living in your little village with the likes of you! Now I am going to my Catholic church and pray for people like you.

Why did Mooney have so many personal foul penalties? There were some facemasks that were not called, also. One of the personal fouls was a Mooney player spitting on a Northwest kid. What's that all about? I.m not mentioning the "R" word. However, you guys need to expect the "same old boring hogwash" because of the position you are in. If you can't take it, give up on football and carry out your mission without it. I am sure such a meaningless part of life can not affect the mission the church takes such pride in to raise instill hope in its students. If you would rather keep the football team, put up with the "same old boring hogwash" without whining about it!

By the way, I ran into a Mooney parent or coach, I am not sure which, on the way out of the press tower and he commented on what nice boys we have on the football team. He was really impressed. We are not a racist little town as the nimrod above stated. We have an integrated school and community.

I have a question. Why is it that Mooney has 70 players on the football team and only 9 kids in the band playing instruments. This was the same deal with St. Charles and Padua. Mooney has a DI football team with a DVI band.

Time to close this thread... Good luck in the future Mooney, we shall meet again. Northwest, its time to move on and get ready for next year...You have shown the community, county, and the state that with all our levy problems, and being an Independent school playing bigger and better competition, traveling to unfamilar territories that we are still a FORCE to be reckon with. WE ARE NORTHWEST

What are you proving by complaining? That Northwest was somehow better because they didn't have facemask penalties? See sometimes you tend to commit penalties like that while you're tackling an opposing player. Considering NW could barely tackle the Mooney backs, they are much less likely to commit that particular penalty. The spitting incident if it happened is unfortunate and unacceptable, but at this point with this level of sour grapes from a few bad apple NW fans, I'm not sure I even believe you.

Oh and not that we need excuses for our band (NW's was very good by the way), but when you've got kids coming from 5-10 different Catholic gradeschools who don't have the money for a band program you end up with kids who don't have the opportunity to be exposed to band instruments until 9th grade.

Hint: When your team loses to another team and you then begin to question where those kids come from, what color the players are, how many penalties were committed, the size of the band, or any other thing that changes the narrative from "Mooney defeated NW" you are a sore loser. Unless you have some proof than you can present to the OHSAA that Mooney somehow broke the rules and bylaws on Friday night then Mooney literally won "fair and square". If you don't like the rules, you're more than welcome to leave the OHSAA and run your own one-team playoff where NW wins every year and its full of all white people in your little utopia.

Nothing I posted is racist & I am not racist. I have many great black friends, and have played on all black softball teams & have played college football with majority black players. What I was trying to point out was that in our community we welcome all walks of life. It doesn't matter black, white, hispanic, poor, rich, etc. If you live in this community you are part of the Northwest family. My point is everyone is not welcomed into your family. I could be wrong, but it seems like the only people welcomed are the families that can afford it, or kids that can play football.
The rude fans & poor sportmanship, yes I realize it is probably only a few. When sitting amongst the Mooney elite, I heard profanity, fans making fun of our community calling us poor farmers, and Mooney fans making fun & laughing at our QB kneeling down on the ground in serious pain. On the field, I saw Mooney players giving out late hits, heard a Mooney kid spit in one our kid's face. These are fine kids with good attitudes trying to play a team that looked like a Division 3 college team. Not to mention the whole experience in general. Your city charging $5 for parking 3 miles from the stadium because somebody was too cheap to open up the stadium parking decks. Then we finally get into the game have to sit next to Mooney fans because I guess they are too cheap to open up the stands on the other side of the field? It's kind of hard to route for your team when they are all the way across the field. Just a crappy set up!! Oh well..I have whined enough..... Good luck Steuby!!

    Jim

If I'm not mistaken one of your players was called for a personal foul also. It's called football and with that comes the intensity that these young men play with. I haven't heard one person on here complain about that personal foul. As far as parking goes it is run by YSU. Mooney has nothing to do with parking or the concession stand at the stadium. Since Mooney has been in the playoffs for quite a few years you should know that no matter where you go to play you will be charged for parking. That is one perk of hosting a playoff game. You are correct about one thing, you do a lot of "whining'" about meaningless things.

As a Catholic school we also welcome people from all walks of life. Poor, black, rich, middle class, even you would be welcome at Mooney. Good luck this year in basketball. Mooney is still playing football against a great team in Steubenville.

Ah yes, the classic "I'm not racist I have black friends/talked to a black guy once" defense. Its like the racist motto.

So your argument is in Canal Fulton you welcome all walks of life, but at Mooney we don't because......we have black players?! That doesn't even make sense. Are you even sure what you're arguing? Are you trying to say that Mooney only welcomes black students if they're good at football? I'd like to welcome you to walk through the halls of Mooney on any given school day (Sorry, you can't bring your guns in) and see how many black students there are. Let me tell you something, to imply that the only use Mooney would have for black students is to play football is racist in and of itself. Because you say "its not racist" or "I'm not racist" does not make it so.

Oh and just a request if you do happen to come visit Mooney.....there's a big cross out front....try not to burn it.
