If Orrville had a good football program, they would have beaten Mooney. If Orrville had a good football program, they'd have won more than one state title.Red Rider Nation;956929 wrote:Could would shoulda.......... If my aunt had b@lls she would be my uncle! If Orrville were relevant to this thread, you'd be an awesome contributor.
I don't get your cockiness.....Orrville beat 2 teams with a winning record, they lost to a 3-7 team. Get out of this thread, good luck in D4....there's no Mooney on your way to a state title so go win one now that you have no excuses. -

Hard to even reply to an uneducated person. Thats like saying in 07 if you really were the 5th best team in the nation you would not have lost to Coldwater and blown a 21 point 4th quarter lead. You were the better team in 06 and the better team this year in 2011 vs NW. Good luck to both teams. -

If you don't recall the 07 season two kids from northwest hot in an accident the week of licking valley. Also if you were there you would know licking valley had 5 downs to score on the goalie, I'm not one to just accuse the ref but they replayed a down. There was no penelty as I recall.Red Rider Nation;956929 wrote:Could would shoulda.......... If my aunt had b@lls she would be my uncle! genghis dongI just don't think that NW can stop the running game of Mooney. They had a hard time stopping the run against Poland. I think Lawman averaged over 5 yards a carry that game. I doubt NW has seen running backs like Moore Griffin and McWilson, but the Mooney d worries me. If they can get off the feild it will be a long night for NW.

I'm not worried about the defense. The weakness of the Mooney D is the linebackers are too aggressive. This burned us against Ursuline as the Irish just constantly bounced their running plays to the edge and we then couldn't tackle them until they reached the DBs. But NW is nowhere near the running team of Ursuline and Mooney may not see a RB as good as Jesse Curry the rest of the year. Our DBs actually are pretty good in coverage, but I just wonder if NW will be able to protect the QB against the Mooney Dline and LBs. If they can't it will be a looooong night for the NW QB and Mooney will win by 3-4 TDs. If they can protect the QB, this could be a good, close game.genghis dong;957759 wrote:I just don't think that NW can stop the running game of Mooney. So nice to read intelligent posts from a football fan that can be confident in their team without being a complete A$$. I have felt like I had red bull and pixie sticks for breakfast all day. So excited yo head your way to see a great game. I think that stopping your run game will be the key as we have stumbled with that in the past. Even if your DB's are good in coverage, do you have 5 of them? Riley has come a long way since last season, and he spreads the ball around like a vegas card dealer. Have I mentioned I am a bit excited to get on the road? Just under 6 hrs till game time!Mooney44Cards;957828 wrote:I'm not worried about the defense. Drums of WarBTW, I started a thread in the College board about an incident Tuesday night. Go take a look and put in your 2 cents. It is up close to 100 replies.

RedRider1Good luck Tribe.....from an Orrville fan that's been very impressed with your season this year....thought 5-5 or 6-4 was the best you could do given a tough independent schedule...but you were 8-2 and a play away from 9-1. Glad we got to you in week 1.
Go put it all on the line and let the chips fall where they may. -

Our D ends were the real problem against UHS. Our linebacker play will be just fine. Love and Dermatta have come a long way. I think McWilson will be the xfactor. Not sure NW has anyone that can stay with him.Mooney44Cards;957828 wrote:I'm not worried about the defense. The weakness of the Mooney D is the linebackers are too aggressive. Ya I don't think Mooney's DBs are good because they are outstandingly talented, I think its good coaching and good technique. So its one of those things, no matter who you plug in, as long as they are doing what they are supposed to be doing, the system is sound.Drums of War;957841 wrote:So nice to read intelligent posts from a football fan that can be confident in their team without being a complete A$$. How mobile is NW's QB? Because I am thinking he may be on the run all night, but he could do some damage if he can complete passes on the run. Even the best defenses can't hold good coverage forever and NW may need to rely on making something out of nothing a la Ben Roethlisberger to be good enough to beat Mooney.
Thanks for the compliment. I'm just so sick of "HS Football discussion boards" being anything but. Its all cheerleading and trash talking. I've come to the conclusion that most fans don't even really know enough about football or teams in general to add anything of substance to the conversation so it resorts to "There is no way NW can beat Mooney, my brother saw Mooney play and said they are sweet." I mean, if you don't know much about the opposing team, just ask, then you can use that reply to say "Well....their D-line may be pretty talented but....." It's how human adult discourse works. -

Mooney44CardsWell, my prediction rang true, and Mooney's D-line set the tone early, practically setting up camp in the NW backfield.
I'd be so frustrated if I were a NW fan....that game could have gone a bit differently with a different gameplan. I mean, after the first two drives, the NW coach had to know that his OL was overmatched and to quit lining up 5-wide so Mooney would have to respect the run. Instead, he waited until the 2nd half to do that, after he was down enough to make it unlikely to come back.
Also, those splits the offense line was taking were just asking for the Mooney DLine to eat up the OLine.
A shame, NW was a talented team and the QB was a stud, but I'm going to chalk this blowout up to bad coaching. -
