Week 2: Campbell Memorial (1-0) at South Range (0-1)

  Pride, Range plays Trinity next week. Crestview isn't until week nine.

  The discipline issues are a real concern for me because now any smack talking will be looked at even more by the officials. We just can't afford that. Pride has it right, we are doing what we are suppossed to do against these teams. South Range had the ball inside of our Red Zone three times and didn't come away with anything. Lucky for us, but what are we going to do against an offense like Girard? Labrae is tough and well coached and is not gonna be an easy game. Stuthers is a rivalry game so that is gonna be interesting.
  
  Bottom line is we have to get better in all phases of the game. If we can do that we will be fine.

  You know I hope one thing fellas. If we beat up a very down Liberty team and........well....I will wait to see how that game goes. Lets just take it one game at a time. I guess my concern is how we act on TV in week 4. Like I said, one game at a time.

  Not sure. There was a rumor circulating that the Campbell-Brookfield game was the MY-YTV GOTW for week four of the season. From my perspective, I believe the Campbell game that should be televised is the one vs. Girard, assuming both schools keep on winning. I have heard good things about Brookfield. But to be honest, I just don't see them having the athletes to stay with Campbell Memorial. South Range-Campbell was supposedly going to be a close game. And look how that turned out. South Range had no answer for Campbell's team speed and size on the offensive line. I see Brookfield being somewhat similar to South Range when it comes to talent. I've said it before..........a week of practice preparing to play Campbell Memorial is difficult. Why? It's not likely any team can emulate the speed Campbell has when preparing to play them. Any team can watch film on them and simulate the plays Campbell's offense is more likely to run. But they cannot simulate the speed. They find out how fast Campbell is when they get on the field against them on Friday night. Regardless of the good things I have seen from the Campbell team thus far, I do have some concerns about them. My concerns are shared by a few others.

  heard a rumor that they may be honoring the state teams in the stadium...any truth to this???

  I believe a proposal has been made to the gridiron club about putting something in the stadium honoring the state finalist & state semi-finalist teams. The gridiron club will not donate any money to the project, which costs about $1000. They said that they would help if the money is raised they would help when its time to present it to the board. There should be something in the stadium honoring all the great teams.

  If Campbell was still in D4, 10-0 might not get them a home playoff game. It will in D5. 9-1 might even get them a home game in week 11. South Range is still good for at least 4 or 5 wins, maybe more. Even if Brookfield gets hammered by Campbell, they'll still be on pace for 8 wins at the least, but 9-1 is a safe bet. LaBrae is on course for 7 or 8 wins. Girard is running all over everyone, they cam lose to Campbell and still get 8 or 9 wins too. Struthers will probably be good for at least 5 wins.
  
  Say that hypothetically... Mineral Ridge goes 0-10, South Range goes 4-6, Liberty goes 0-10, Brookfield goes 9-1, LaBrae goes 7-3, Edgewood goes 1-9, Champion goes 3-7, Newton Falls goes 0-10, and Struthers goes 5-5.
  
  Now say that Campbell goes 9-1 again, and loses to Girard. That would still give them 39.5 L1 points and 134.0 L2 points. I'm pretty sure about the L2 points, but I'm not 100% sure. The L1 points are right. There's 44.0 possible L1 points on the schedule. Predicting the L2 points is kinda tricky though. Those are a lot less uncertain.
  
  According to Joe Eitel's website, the 4 seed in Region 17 had 37 L1 points and 146.0 L2 points last year.
  
  I find it very hard to believe that Edgewood won't win at least 4 games, but I couldn't find their schedule to figure out the numbers. South Range, LaBrae, Struthers, and Champion could all win more games than what I did the math for too. The only game Liberty has that I think they have a shot at this year is Champion. No matter who wins that game, it's L2 points for Campbell. I don't see Mineral Ridge or Newton Falls getting a win this year. If either of them can manage to get an upset, that may work in Campbell's favor too. They can go 9-1 and host a playoff game with some help. 10-0 would not only guarantee that they'd host a playoff game, it may get them the #1 seed in Region 17.
  
  Of course, a lot can happen between now and November. There's still a lot of football left to be played before everything is decided, but you guys brought it up. So bank on it! If Campbell goes 10-0, they will absolutely host a playoff game.

  BTrev, since you put a lot of time into gathering all of the information within your post, here is the Edgewood schedule. Edgewood dropped down to D-4 this year. So far, they are 1-1.

  I would be surprised if that happens. They usually showcase one game from PA every year.

  Ya guess we will see how it all pans out either way ill be at that game. Rather watch that game then watch the struthers liberty game.... Liberty is awful this year.

  Here's an idea. Call me crazy but I thought we played some rival team from Struthers Ohio at the end of the season. Been doing it now for some 80 plus yrs. God forbid don't make that the game of the week.

  Boardman Fitch is usually that game which annoys me. Id love to see that game on tv it would add so much more to campbell struthers week.... Even more exciting then the last couple years have been.

  oldschool, if funds can be gotten, there is so much more that can be done at that stadium to really dress it up. Campbell won several SVC championships, the last one in 1964. I know that was a long time ago. And then there are the MVC championships and the AAC championship. The SVC championships were many years ago. But the fact is they did happen. I bet there are kids who don't even know that Campbell was one of the original members of the Steel Valley Conference. And Campbell has had a few players go on to play in the NFL.

  Struthers-Campbell should be the game of the week for Week 10. They've played, I think 86 times, but the rivalry dates back almost 100 years.
  
  I've told Ralph to put in a word for Struthers-Campbell over Boardman-Fitch or Poland-Canfield... I don't know if he has much say in what games are televised though.

  Off subject a little bit but week 1 against jefferson. Struthers has 20 seconds before half, trips right struthers runs the 2 outside recivers underneath to see what the defense would do "a set up play" a thing unheard of without zetts in struthers lol..... Kimbrough rolls out and basically takes a 3-4 yards gain. Struthers tkaes a timeout meanwhile the fans are yelling saying asher is an awful coach and that they should be trying to score to take the lead going into halftime and they were already complaining about the play calling. The next play they ran the exact same play in which the defense did the exact same thing which had Duchek as the inside reciever run a wheel and Kimbrough put the ball right behind the 2 defenders and it was basically an easy TD and struthers took the lead... Then all the struthers fans are going crazy about how well of a play call it was haha... Just thought it was a complete joke by some of the fans who usually come to the games drunk or have no knowledge of football what so ever. LOL

  Guys i have had some issues where i have not got to put much impute and had to actually miss a game. But will be there Friday for the Butt Whoopin. Im just going to lay this out right now. Who on our schedule can beat us?? Who on our schedule has Athletes like Campbell? Who on the schedule had the CB QB RB D-line Speed and of course Ja'les Hughes?"Who in the Area has the superior kicking game like Campbell??? Ill answer that!! There is nobody on the Schedule. Not Girard Not Brookfield not Struthers Not no one!!!! Lets stop Kidding ourselves. We have a Bunch of Knuckle Heads for players. But there not like any team we have had in since 90... Can they go toe to toe with say Ursuline?? Will see.. Hell Ursuline could lose 5 games and still get in lol. But this team has put up over 80 points in 4 Qts. The starters have been done by 8 min left in the 3rd. Its sick!! Man guys when was the last team that has done that? Get ready to run the Hughes train! There are bigger holes then last year. We have it all. This team even said they can go as far as they want... Im sure we will see a few games where it might get close. But ill make my bet that Ja'les will find the hole. I just hope they find a way to fix the not score in the first qt. I swear the kids are doing it on purpose so they are not sitting by Halftime lol!! And Patton is showing his worth.

  Also wanted to add something. I was at home listing to the game on the Internet. And the radio announcers were in love with Jales. They even said at one point who is going to stop this Hughes kid? And one guy said that this kid got so much faster then last year! The brake away is faster and his open field speed is off the chart. Now this is what the announcers said. Then they talked Campbell up until you know the Owens incident. They tried to down play it a little and say well that should not be done to a team that's getting beat up. But you can tell deep down they loved it.
