NLL Football 2010

NLLBESTIt is never to soon to start talking about football. So what do you think will happen next year in the league?
-
rmolin73The league will be Southview's to lose with a little contention from Anthony Wayne. My thoughts.
Southview-Offensively QB Pinckney is back as well as Gant, Chuba, and half of the offensive line. Bowers IMO was a better back than May was and he pretty much ran through everyones defense whenever he got in the game. Gant will be the go to guy this year and with the addition of some of his sophmore classmates he won't be the only target. Defensively- Gant, Quinn, Mansour, are the only returning starters with Bowers, Fisher, Reau, seeing time on defense as well. There will be alot of this years sophmores that will start on defense.
Anthony Wayne-The Wing T has proven to be a problem for most NLL teams they are losing Donnal, Bridges, and Schwerer but Green remains.
Springfield/Maumee-I'm expecting Springfield to be a little more competetive under the new coach they were young last year. Maumee loses Goatley, Studvyin, Contat, and Hall which will be a huge hit. Eric Long returns.
Bowling Green-Never know which BG team will show up their sophmore running back could give them the edge.
Perrysburg-I was very dissapointed in the lack of offense for Perrysburg as well as seeing how poor their JV, and Frosh performed.
Northview-The smallest team outside of Rossford
Rossford-There last year in the league. -
SVCougar1978Southview will have a small senior class next year. I would not be at all surprised to see two junior captains on the Cougars next year. My projection is that Pinckney, Bowers, Gant and Fisher will be the 2010 Cougar captains. That is a very good group of kids. There is no magic to having to a great season.....get your behinds into the weight room and play as a team. I think Southview will win the NLL every year.
-
NLLBESTI basically agree with your assessment of the league rmolin and as Im sure you know I would like to give my vote to the panthers bt right now I don't think I can. I know Maumee has a very good o and d line coming from the 2013 class (this year freshman). They are already pretty big and them Karchner and little King look to fill out the lines. Maumees running attack shouldn't drop off though considering Schnieder and Long will be the backfield.
I would at this moment take southview at 1st then A-W then Maumee and then the rest just like a lot of people predicted going into this season. -
rmolin73I would have to concur with you on that one SVCougar1978 they have like 30 sophmores that will be juniors for next year. With only about 8-10 seniors there will be alot of juniors out on the field.
-
1discipleI voted for Southview as well a team can do a heck of alot when their QB returns (Maumee). With a solid receiving corp and a hard hitting, hungry, young defense. I look for them to do some damage in the NLL as well as the post season. Hopefully they can get past this thought that NWO does not produce any good D1 teams.

Smallest? Height & weight, number of players, enrollment?rmolin73 wrote: Northview-The smallest team outside of Rossford -
NLLBESTMaumee is the smallest enrollemnt I believe he is referring to # out for football.
-
BG WarthogAny word on serious coaching candidates at BG and Rossford? Heard BG has over 30 applicants, but no specific names.
-
Swamp FoxIt seems rather early to predict the outcome of next Fall's NLL Football League finish. I would say that the Cougars have to be given the early nod, based on the fact that they keep winning these things each year and until someone beats them, they have to be the favorite. Their record has earned that distinction for them. Maumee and AW are also in the mix but I would have to say that everyone is "in the mix" at the moment, and it's really hard to say who will emerge to challenge Southview next season.
-
rmolin73That is true swampfox but we need something to tide us over until next year lol.
-
newarkcatholicfanHow did the JV teams fair last season?
Records? -
champ01Who will coach BG next season? any ideas on who all applied? and who will be under center next year for them? so they have a QB
-
NLLBESTJV
Southview undefeated (7-0) won something like 40 straight?
A-W (6-1) or (5-2) Loss to Southview for sure
Maumee (5-2) Losses to A-W and Southview
Im not sure about springfield northview and Perrysburg but I know Pburg had very little talent on the jv getting beat by 28 against Maumee I believe. Northview and Springfield both kept the game close against Maumee.
Rossford (1-6)
BG (0-7)
P.S. the voting is a joke. BG 3 votes? Seriously? -
BGbobcat4lifei know bgs jv beat p burg so they had at least 1 win
-
BG WarthogBG jv were 2-7 last season with wins over Perrysburg and Fostoria. They did almost upset Southview, losing just 13-6
-
BG Warthog
I know of one coach who will be on the short list if he applies, but not sure he will. That's all I know.champ01 wrote: Who will coach BG next season? any ideas on who all applied? and who will be under center next year for them? so they have a QB
Senior-to-be Cole Jennings is the likely starter at QB next season. He was a starter at CB this year, and played a little WR on offense. The two JV QBs were Senior-to-be Justin Spencer and Junior-to-be Derek Schroeder. Spencer did play QB in the varsity game against AW last season when Miller got hurt. Jennings had a thumb injury then and couldn't play QB. Of course there is Derek Batt also, who was moved to QB after Miller's injury and played a few games there. Not sure if his future is at QB though, don't know for sure he will be in BG at all next year. And a lot will depend on who the coach is and what he is looking for. -
BG Warthog
I voted Southview, fwiwNLLBEST wrote:P.S. the voting is a joke. BG 3 votes? Seriously? -
champ01whats the rumor on the batt kid? Did he just back up QB or did he play anywhere else? If he happens to "not be around" would that hurt them at all? What do you think about Jennings at QB? could he bring help carry the load with that Big running back.
-
BG WarthogI believe the Batt family is moving to Louisville, but I heard Derek may stay in BG for his senior year. He did play RB and WR on offense at different times as well. I don't think his future is at QB. I've only seen Jennings play QB in the two scrimmages last season. He seemed to do ok, but he not a real big kid. But he plays hockey also, so I am sure he is tough enough to take a few hits.
-
champ01BG warthog and Bobcat4life. you both seem to know a lot about BG give me a low down on it all. how will the O line Be? will the big running back be effective again? Who's their best player returning? (on both sides of the ball) how will the defense be? (Winkle down there usually has the play well.) and who is there captains gonna be who will lead that team? (i think if the have some good leaders they can turn that team around with a good coach) Who will the coach be? (if you have any idea)
And i know the slocum brothers at PBURG both play QB which one will start? i heard the younger one started at the end of the year -
BGbobcat4lifeThe big problem for bg will be the o line right now there is only one player coming back who has stared a game at o line but he only started in 4 or 5 games. I am not sure who the head coach will be but i think it will be someone already on staff most likely the defensive backs coach.
-
NLLBESTchamp01 Matt slocum(the older one) started every game his little brother only played qb when Matt was injured or sick against springfield.
-
SVCougar1978Between 2005 and last year I think I knew the NLL pretty darn well. I watched my son and his friends at SV in that time period and I knew most of the teams very well. That came from watching all the freshman, JV and varsity games. I still know SV pretty well but am pretty much clueless on the other teams now. Mayzes will always have SV in the hunt for the NLL title. However, I do think 2010 could have a dark horse winner. Just a hunch.

champ01warthog. i would still like to hear what you have to say on my earlier post
