NLL Football 2010

That will be an excellent venue for the BG and TCC game. Where is all the chatter? Who do you guys think will be the impact players for your respective teams? My take on Southview. Denard Pinckney QB, Ja. Bowers RB/CB, Allen Gant WR/FS, Connor Chuba TE, Jay Fisher G/LB, Anthony Quinn DE, Ray Okde G, JQ. Bowers CB, Mike Gross SS, Ken Reau LB. This is just off the top of my head.

Maumee...rb - Eric Long, qb - most likely Jake schnieder Im unsure on recievers but I know a couple got some varsity experience this year and will likely start next year.

Defense Karchner - lb, Long olb or lb, possible Kolbow/ Schnieder at Corner (3 Sophmores may start D line all over 200 pounds)

I just definitely train my team. To be able to become ready in this incoming 2010. I know all coaches train also his team.

TCC just opened their new stadium a couple of years ago. Why would TCC give up a home game, and rent Doyt Perry Stadium, and drive down to BG two years in a row?

what about Batt? cunningham and jennings from BG. Impact players or not?
  • rmolin73
I think someone was talking about Batt not being in BG for his senior year.

Might have been me. His family is moving to Kentucky, but I am not sure Batt is going. He may stay in BG for his senior year. I don't know for sure either way.
  • champ01
I read that and heard that as well. is he an impact player? how good do you think he is? Will he be a key loss if that happens? and does he have any college offers? or does anyone on that team?
  • rmolin73
If Batt is not playing it will be a key loss for BG his leadership would IMO be the most important factor missing. He is an impact player but I believe if he has any college offers they would be in baseball.

Any word on the BG coach?
  • rmolin73
I'm hearing that Southview's OC has left and is now at Springfield. Can some of the other Southview faithful help me out is this true? Who will take his place if true?

Heard they started interviews last week. There is one internal candidate, widely thought to be Aungst. Heard the Fremont S. Joe coach applied at Rossford. Would think if he applied at Rossford, he would certainly have applied at BG. Don't think the guy I wanted to apply ever did, even though the AD contacted him personally.

should combine a nll/tcl thread since there is only like 10 people on this site
  • SVCougar1978
Good idea...lets just have a NW Ohio thread for that matter. And yes, SV's OC from the state champ team is going to Springfield. He is a great guy and a very good O coordinator. But Mayzes is a great guy and a great coach, too. So I am staying out of this thing. SV has moved the QB coach to O coordinator (I believe). The NLL is tough to predict next year. Hard to pick against SV being the favorite again. Who can compete with them? The TCL will have the same favorites again, also. Whitmer, SFS and CCHS should be the favorites. How is SJJ looking? Also, I was vindicated about Maple Heights 2009 not being in SV 2008 league. MH got smoked by Winton Woods (totally dominated). WW got beat badly by Anderson....and we all know what happened when SV played Anderson. Speaking of Anderson...hats off to them for a terrific year last year. Getting to the D1 R4 regional champ game...undefeated...and giving Elder a very good game. Before Anderson lost that close game to Elder...that last team to beat them? SV, of course. The Anderson 2008 team was pretty much the same team as the Anderson 2009 team (actually the 2008 team had Andrew Norwell all year long...arguably the best player in Ohio).

To revive the thread SVCougar1978 who do you think will be the standout players for Southview. From what I am hearing and what I have also seen the defense this year will be young but filled with alot of speed as well as some hitters. I attended two of Southview's JV games Springfield and Perrysburg I saw some of the hardest hits at this level at these games. They really had you feeling sorry for the other teams and I hear that a lot of those guys got some varsity time and will fill the shoes of their predecessors.

When will BG coach be officially selected?
  • BGbobcat4life
The head coach has already been selected it is defensive backs coach Steve Aungst. It will become offical after monday when they meet with the school board.

Rmolin73....put a camera at the entrance of the Southview weight room. The young men who show up on the camera the most will have the best chance at a stand out season. When it comes to actually delivering on the field there is no substitute for hard work. As the graduating class of 2009 (seniors of the state champ team) becomes more of a distant memory, my knowledge of the SV kids also fades. This is where my connection was with the team. One thing that I do know that will remain at SV is a high expectation of success. But again, as I stated earlier, the work put in at the weight room determines how strong, fast and most importantly, how durable any player will be over what everyone hopes is a fifteen game season. Remember this....the SV seniors of the 2008 season starting working in the weight room (correctly, I might add) in the eigth grade...pretty much ALL of them.

How do you think Aungst will do as the new Bowling Green head coach? How do you think they will do as a team? and what does everyone think their record will be come week 10?
  • BG Warthog
The Toledo Blade reports today that Aungst is the new BG coach. Good luck Coach!

    Aungst to lead Bobcats

Pending approval Feb. 13 from the Bowling Green board of education, Steve Aungst will be the school's next football coach.

Aungst, 38, is a 1990 Bowling Green graduate who has been an assistant under former head coach Jeff Cullen the last six years. Aungst played three seasons under coach Denny Marquette as a linebacker and fullback. He was part of the Bobcats' 9-2 playoff season in 1998, and the team went 8-2 his senior year.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to coach at Bowling Green High School,” Aungst said. “I cannot wait until Aug. 2, the first day of two-a-days, to get rolling. My overall goal is to get this program back and running and into the playoffs, and in the hunt for an NLL championship.

“I have a lot of excitement and enthusiasm that I can bring to this program. I'm a Bobcat alumnae, and that's how I sold myself. No other coach in northwest Ohio has more passion for Bobcat football than I do.”

Aungst played football for one season at Clarion (Pa.) University before transferring to the University of Toledo, where he received a bachelor's degree in 1997 and later added a master's degree.

Prior to his assistant post at BG, Aungst spent one season as a volunteer assistant at Tiffin Calvert in 1996 while he completed his studies at Toledo.

He is married with two children, a daughter, 12, and a son, 9.

Cullen's seven-year stint as Bobcats coach produced a 27-43 record, including a 24-25 mark in Northern Lakes League play. BG's last NLL title and Division II playoff appearance both came in 2000.

Rumor has it the Batt family is going to stay around for Derek's senior year. Is it true? I read in the paper a couple weeks back about the family issues. After reading this i thought for sure the Batt family would be moving. i have personally only met Mr. Batt, Derek, and his oldest brother one time and had the privilege to talk with them through a common family friend. i have so much respect for Derek from talking to him he seems in my opinion to carry himself in a high class manner. even though he has a great athletic ability he seems to be very humble. I heard that his father is in Kentucky living in an apartment, while his mother stays at home and raises Derek and his younger Brother, I have a lot of respect for that family, and the are definitely in my thoughts and prayers.

Im not completely sure if its true that Derek will be around for his senior year? BG Warthog id love to hear what you know on the situation?
